I went to see Graham Fellows: Completely Out Of Character in the back room of a lovely proper old-school pub in Sheffield. Just a lovely, lovely evening and, having seen John Shuttleworth live numerous times, Graham was an utter delight as himself.
I met Graham Fellows in the early 2000s when he was starring in the play “Two” at the Lancaster Dukes theatre. My friend had brought along his copy of Jilted John's "True Love Stories". We waited like potential stalker fans in the theatre bar. On being requested to sign the LP, Graham fixed us with a quizzical look and asked "Do you still listen to this ???" We said yes even though we'd not listened to it in years. He cut short my gushing on about John Shuttleworth by darkly declaring he no longer liked the character. This led to an awkward silence. Then he asked "What did you think about the play?" I said "Yeah, it was good!" then began banging on about about Ken Worthington. Graham did his Ken voice for us. It was difficult to hear in the bar environment as it’s done in a near whisper. We all leaned forward to listen. Graham then strongly suggested he needed a drink. We got the hint and let him be.
