Whilst it may be limited, driving a 911 Turbo round Suzuka in VR was a game changer for me. The best VR experience I've had so far

I just picked up gran turismo 7 for the psvr2 that will be the first racing game ive ever played in vr hope its good

I want a complete as possible VR game. After first being excited about GT Sport VR, im tending more to Driveclub VR. In my experience, bad graphics dont matter much in VR. It just looks so much better than usual!

Woah look at the mirrors as you move your head... the image in the mirror changes as it would in real life.... That's insane attention to detail. Driveclub VR doesn't even have that.

i don't understand where i use my PSVR 3D view on Grand Tourismo? Where is the menu?

The moment I sit in that BMW ///M2, I’d instinctively reach for the shifter just to be let down because it is not there and the hand did not follow.

unbelievable level of graphics. Like gt6 in 720p.

I notice its sort of blurry on the gauge cluster and other things. Has anybody noticed this? Or is it just me?

Is it only the arcade mode that you can use vr on ?

I only play GranTuristmo in VR, but Its a bummer that there are no career or progression modes. There is only time trial mode that will not set lap records for tracks (so in other words you are just alone in the track doing laps) And there is a very very easy 1v1 oponent mode (that you can't make it harder). I wish I could play Single player career mode or at least play a real time trial. Or maybe set difficulty in 1v1 mode.

I've found that when you play in big screen theatre mode with a steering wheel, it feels like you're in the car. Not as good as drive club's full game 360 degrees of turning but it works

Well, they may have listened to you! VR time trial is how I play the game the most. Putting my garage cars up against each other on the track to get the best time. I can play out my stig fantasies that way ;p

I was thinking to purchase either vr or 2 more monitors (screens) so I can get set of 3 but after I had watched it I decide to buy 2 more screens

I don't get it. At an event a few months ago in Amsterdam from Sony, i have played GT sport in VR and the AI car grid was between 10 - 16 cars. So what happened? Because it was amazing

I know this old but great review. Although you would have expected not full game play. I didn’t even think about the hardware aspect of that. I was disappointed to find out you can’t compete with it. I was wondering if driving in vr will help with better times and cornering as you mentioned the depth perception. That was a GREAT point. And at the price point offered even in today’s used market, I’ll pass. Thanks!

As someone who wants to learn driving, is this a good simulator for that? I mean I obviously won't go rampage racing of course. And is there a "practice mode" that teaches you the basics?

2 years later, have they made any improvements? On the fence about getting it, and I'm only interested in playing VR

Can you race every track in VR? I thought there were some that you couldn't, can anyone confirm this? I really wanted this one to be great and am pretty disappointing that it turned out like this. If you can race every track in VR then at least that is something you could compare your Nurburgring times with real life ones and see if you can beat Randy Pobst's times around Big Willow in many of the same cars that have appeared on Ignition.

Wounder what happend to the full grid. Lookong at othe vr games. Ps4 could have had more vr. If they had it on a demo then it should be possible maybe.

Thanks for the vid and review, you definitely saved me some money. I'm already ticked at PS4 being released without audio output. (2 channel headphone jack on the controller doesn't count, nor does splitting audio out of the HDMI count) So AFTER I pay the $300, they release the pro with optical audio. Great. :/ Not going for the VR at all.

was gonna get it , glad i saw this , on ps store its up for 9.99 $ , but i have ps4 not the hd version , and since gameplay didnt change and is extremely limited i wont get it , i did get however ace combat 7 , for vr experience , very nice i shall say and resident evil 7 is playable in vr in its entirety

It's a farce. They market the game for a year as being a 'VR racing game'. Then we wait a year and get this... what a waste of time. In this day and age it really is inexcusable to not at least explain the problem, maybe there was some technical issue and a time trial mode will be available in 6 months or something, but if that's the case, then a simple blog post taking the development team 20 mins to write out would sort it out. I fear they just couldn't be bothered, knowing that perhaps only 5% or less of players would care about PSVR.

Surely they could have figured out a way to do 1v1 online matches? Both users have their own ps4 that way so I can’t see why it’s not possible…

I keep watching psvr stuff lately cause of skyrim coming out but am gonna wait till Christmas comes around so I can use gift cards to buy it. Kinda hoping by then they will be selling the new modle by itself so I can grab it and skyrim for as cheap as I can so I can buy another game or two as well with it. Really its hard to believe it's been around for over a year now it still feels so new.

I understand not having a full grid because they wanted to keep the graphical fidelity as high as possible but it seems inexcusable there is no time trial mode. If I could just hotlap around the Nurburgring I’d be all over this.

Its pretty entertaining to note that GT5 had a feature like this. It used the Playstation Eye camera, and it tracked your head movments. It worked best with 2 or 3 screens, but it did everything you could do here, and then some. It allowed up to 16 cars on the track too. How they fucked this one up is anyones guess.

Why did they even release this game so bare bones? I’ll wait until they release a year edition or something

While the VR tour mode of GTS is a fun addition, the limited nature of it is a huge disappointment. The omission of a time-trial option for example is baffling, and ultimately makes VR a very niche-section of what is otherwise an interesting game. Sure, the PS4 hardware is a limiting factor in producing the VR experiences that high-end PC games can provide, and the PSVR headset is limited in its capabilities too, but given Polyphony's delays in bringing this game to market, and the extensive testing this game went through, it's disappointing to see such basic features missing.

Driveclub which is like 2014 added vr with more cars -_- so wonder why this game only does 1vs1

The steering is the worst i have experienced.

Tried it, not impressed at all. It lacks sense of speed in general, and overall it was weird. I had actually more fun in a regular mode. Same problem I have with a 3d cinema. Nice addition, but that is all. Headaches and eyestrain for what?

I really wish they would've released the VR mode as a standalone for like $30 - It's really hard to justify the purchase when you're only going to utilize like 30% of the game that's there, since VR is tucked in the corner in its own little mode. Kinda' shitty since, on the other side of the spectrum, players who aren't interested in VR are also paying $60 for a game that has content they're not going to want to play. It's really a lose-lose situation, and I would've preferred they compromise on the graphics to make it work so that VR was playable for the entirety of the game. I find it hard to swallow that it would've been "impossible" - I think they just didn't want to put the effort in (and it already took them forever to get the damn game out too, despite cutting corners (pun?))...

So pissed off about this. Say what you like, they absolutely led us to believe this was going to be the VR racing sim we wanted it to be. It looks great in this video and a range of options could be done, even one on one online vr races if it's that much of a push. I'd be fine with that, licences could be done, it smells like bs to me and a negotiation and contract/Sony incentive issue to me. Well pissed off.

I would love to play this, but given how limited it is, and the mandatory online to experience the full single player game (or even save the gosh dang game for goodness sake), I can't justify buying this. Maybe when it hits the $10 bin. Because the VR is all I would use it for given the restrictions in other modes.

It's a great game but yes, VR aspect is crap. They could have more AI opponents surely, most of the VR work is done on the processing unit, but i've never coded for PS4 platform so they must have their reasons.

I own this game and it's even more of a letdown than this video implies. Avoid buying it

Not getting due to the poor VR offering and the fact we were lead to believe it was to be a full VR game - someone at Sony needs to have their head lopped off for this. Dont see why they cant have 2 modes - high qualify 1on1 and lower quality full grid racing - hopefully a patch will come along soon

As disappointing as it is it's still not bad. drive club was not all that all it did was give me VR sickness because the resolution was so bad I could not enjoy the game.as for gt I played 4 different tracks with a t150 and not one moment of nasuea maybe because it is locked at 60fps the textureing is better

this does not make sense why can you not play campaign or online with vr? this just seems like they just tacked on vr as an after thought and not a main feature. sorry but you just lost out on a sale for both the game and vr. I was going to buy it but if I can't play the entire game and vr then there is no point. I'll pass.

No doubt that vr content is very disappointing. Also i do not really agree that it looks better than Driveclub VR. The interieur yes, but the outside world sometimes seems to be be even worse. It is nice to look around in the car when it is stationary but while driving i rather focus on the outside world, so i would rather see a more detailed outside than inside. However i accept the limitation of the hardware. Come on people it is a first gen stuff. The game itself is kind of fun, but knowing PD from the past, i doubt they will improve much of this part of the game.

I bought it. Got VR too, but man this is poor 1v1 only and the showroom mode you can just see from outside the car... You cannot even open the doors. If only Forza would have VR it would be so much more ... here it is just a waste.

What the fuck is the point in implementing VR!? Why can't you play your career in VR!? PlayStation aren't doing anything to sell us PSVR. PSVR should of waited till next gen.

So another totally fucking useless title to add to the ever growing pile of absolutely pathetic games for VR? Sick to the back teeth of the good games (even LA Noire) coming out for silly little HTC headsets for phones, but a £600+ piece of equipment for Playstation gets nothing but the same puzzle games, mediocre racing games and REPETITIVE ‘horror’ games. That is it. We have had no variety what so ever and it’s been over a year since release, developers are dragging their heels big time. Waste of fucking money.
