Grand Admiral Thrawn is Actually a Heroic Character

Thrawn is one of the best examples, if not _the_ best example of a villain being the hero of their own story. Thrawn sincerely believed that he was doing the right thing throughout his entire military career. He served the Empire not because he believed in the Sith ideology but because he genuinely believed that the galaxy was better off under Imperial rule.

First Star Wars analysis, and of its best character ever. No analysis can truly come close to accurately describe who Thrawn is, canon and legends, but you did a great job explaining who he is and how heroic he is. Thrawn is what every Officer should be, loyal, humble, courageous, selfless, etc. And not a glory seeking egotist like almost everyone of his colleagues are. He's a beloved character and I really hope you do more Star Wars videos and more Thrawn videos in the future.

I was ecstatic and hyped when he appeared in the trailer for Rebels. I can say that the show got him partially right, but in the last episodes, he acted too much like a moron, which was quite uncharacteristic of him.

It's a travesty that Disney threw away the "old" canon. I'm glad that Thrawn survived, but his existence is a constant reminder of what could have been. Episode 4 of Ahsoka actually name drops "Heir to the Empire." What's supposed to be fan service, I took as a slap in the face. Where's Mara Jade et al? It's like Disney is looting the corpse of Star Wars, and winking at me while they do it. ... Thst said, I rather enjoyed Rebels, and am (mostly) enjoying Ahsoka. ... Old Canon Forever!!!

This is offtopic, but I just started reading An Ancient Stirring (Galaxy Ascendant 6) and I must complain about something. Spolers ahead. Darkclaw is supposed to be super intelligent and logical. Surely he should have foreseen that the more authoritarian he will be, the less cooperation and the more resistance he would gain. Given such, he should have prepared a new political system that would give the conquered species at least hope of of a better future. For example: 1. Formally divide the Revittan empire into different areas. For example, Revittan-populated systems would go to Minister Turon, non-Revittan systems to the Free People's Alliance, and unpopulated systems to the Gurshen Collective. 2. Declare the formation of the Galactic Union. The Union's governing body would be a parliament with two houses. The upper house would consist of members of the Tyrannodon Alliance such as the Tyrannodons, Castorellatus, Castoratis, Felinaris, Snevans, Daeris, Talvostans, Minister Turon, the Free People's Alliance, and the Gurshen Collective, with 1 representative for each faction. This house would have the authority to appoint the president of the Union and his ministers. There would also be a lower house with 1 representative for each populated system. The president would be the commander in chief of the Union's military, and in case of a formal declaration of war by the upper house, would have the authority to seize control of the militaries of all members of the Union. Aside from that both houses of parliament would have to jointly pass any resolutions or legislation with a majority in each house. This would also be the way in which new factions can be admitted into the upper house. Also, each existing faction/species would be allowed to continue to govern its own territory and maintain its own military. 3. Disseminate propaganda regarding the threats that exist both in the Unexplored Expanse as well as the imminent return of the Reizan Tvai. If the people know why the centralization of military resources and power is necessary, they will be less antagonized by it and will offer less resistance, although there will always be dissent and resistance. Also, Darkclaw should have considered that perhaps the High Lord is wrong about the Reizan Tvai. Perhaps he's projecting his own mindset unto them. Perhaps they aren't returning as conquerors and masters, but as parents, teachers, or scientists who wish to see the results of their experiments. Also, already in the beginning of the series it seemed that the Reizan Tvai had some trouble at home that forced them to withdraw from the Galaxy. It may very well be that what they did in this galaxy was an attempt to develop means of self-defense, and wasn't much different from Darkclaw using blank clones against the Revittan Empire. In other words, they're not necessarily an enemy, and aren't necessarily evil. It's even possible that the Reizan Tvai that the high lord senses are refugees. While I know from reading the back cover of volume 7 that whoever's coming isn't good, Darkclaw hasn't read the back cover of volume 7. He should be considering all possibilities, and making preparations and manipulating public opinion and politicians instead of simply going with a simplistic heavy-handed approach. The lack of sophistication suggests to me that either the High Lord influenced his thinking more than he knows, or that the author has uncharacteristically not thought things through well enough. Also, can't you move up the release date of Light Unto Another World 10? November 1 is so far away! (I caved and bought volume 9 on digital)
