Great video! We bought this same fifth wheel only a year 2023. The good news is I think Grand Design listened to you. The blinds are now roller shades, the table has one pedestal and raises and lowers. The refrigerator is a 12 volt dc (solar package is installed), furion on demand water heater. It also has the auto leveling feature standard. We added an awning over the slide. We received it late in the session last year so haven’t done a lot of camping with it. We are looking forward to camping in the next week or so.

Nice to hear you talking about the half-ton truck and stopping the rig. Too many people think the only important thing is to pull the camper!

It needs to be said. Like you already mentioned, a lot of folks only look at what they can pull and haul but don’t think about the fact that you need to be able to safely stop it.

I've been studying Grand Designs, we're ordering a new one. You've reinforced what I've learned nicely, thanks. I'll share a tip I picked up from other videos. You will extend the effective life of the pneumatic shocks on the awning if you make a couple of short pauses when extending/retracting, to give them a chance to equalize and catch up, before continuing the operation.

We have a 2022 260RD also, ours differs in the kitchen, our cabinets go all the way to the ceiling, I also added two fans inside the fridge, also insulated around the fridge, cut the board down some on the outside fans and sealed in back with ac tape and put a board on a slant on top to help direct the hot air out, I installed two outlets at each side of the sofa for phone chargers, ours came with blackout shades, I swapped out the fan in the bathroom to a larger fan, removed the wine rack and put in a shelf, installed 3 foot strip lights on the back halfway up for better visibility, wired into the plug on the rear receiver, and several other changes, thanks for your video.

The main design flaw i see in this unit is that when pple come into the trailer, they then block any couch potatoes view of the TV!! they get in the way!! that would annoy me NO END!! thats why i like a mid entry door not a rear entry door, so the living room and TV are located in the rear of the trailer, that way no one blocks the TV screen when im watching it, plus the nice big rear view window can be backed up to a lake for a fabulous view!!

You briefly mentioned lack of access to the bed/bath when the slide is in…how inconvenient do you actually find this? Have you ever had to manually open the slide because the breaker for the slide has tripped and the breaker box is covered when the slide is in? Love this floor plan but lack of access to a few things when the slide is in makes us hesitate to get this trailer.
@campinwiththeconfers
@campinwiththeconfers Год назад
The lack of access to the bathroom is not a make or break for us. We don’t mind using the public restrooms when we stop. There was one time we were in a traffic jam for hours that it would have been nice to get to it, but how often is that going to happen?? Regarding the slide, we have never had to manually open and the breaker has never tripped. Never thought of that one before but it hasn’t been an issue. Thanks for watching. - Mike & Shelley

Another good video. I have the same model except mine is a 2021. The auto leveling systems new to me. Sometimes I have a hard time with it whenever I am at home trying to set it up after a trip. The driveway is higher at the front of the camper than the rear. Sometimes it's hard to get it to unhook. I like the old stuff that you got. I got a couple of questions about some of the items that you had to make life a little easier in there. 1st one is the waste can in the kitchen. Would? Love to get one for myself.
