not neccessarily. it's supposed to be an average american town, which you can see if you compare a 3d map viewer of 2 to a real american town in the woods in the middle of nowhere. still technically an original city, and rockstar made the overall layout themselves. needs a return in GTA6!

Even in GTA Online during The Fleeca Job cutscene, Lester says "Respect is everything", I appreciate how Rockstar makes their references & universes all come full circle in the end.
GTA 2 on PSX was a nice portion of my childhood, the other day I tried it again on epsxe and I genuinely had more fun doing the old gta stuff like kill police do chaos crasy missions etc on it then in GTA V on the x360. don't get me wrong though GTA V has the best racing, car driving mechanic I've ever played.
This is everything about this game that made me get nostalgia: • “And remember, respect is everything” • Wasted! • Busted! • Machine Gun! • “Gimme your wallet!” • Theme song (obviously) And of course… The infamous hot dog mission
Nostalgia is hitting me so hard right now... I have so many memories not only about this game but how my life was back then. Just no worries.. Saturday morning in PJ's playing some gta 2 as a little kid. I remember playing it but my pc was a weak machine so every explosion, especially the big car bomb one, made my framerate crawl to a halt. After a couple seconds of powerpoint slideshowing the effect faded away and it was smooth again. Also my graphic driver didn't support transparant textures and sprites or something? Cause every game with like a score or a flying effect always had a black square behind it.. :P Luckily I could switch the scores that came flying to you off. The things I already knew or understanded when I was a little kid still suprises me. Oh boy until I deleted my COMMAND folder in c:\Windows... thought it was the game Commandos, which is also a childhoods game buried deep in my heart and memories. Now I am now 24 and growing up.. Preparing to leave home in the near future to live with my girlfriend... I am so gonna take some time and replay these classics... Oh well. :)
+FlickFlag Productions me too! I had a low performing pc back then. None the less I enjoyed games ,like this and still do ... It was a new world to be explored ....... epic :-D
skill3r69 Yeah, I am living together with my girlfriend.. It's crazy how, after all, time has passed so quickly.. Now when you think of the future it's all still so long, so much we have to discover. But yet again after 10 years we will again ask our self how fast time has passed by, maybe while holding your first born, maybe somewhere making big business, maybe going on a trip around the world... It's fascinating what live has to offer. It's not fair, there is no justice, but we make the best of it. Bless you and you girlfriend!

I recently got to play GTA 2 for the first time, as someone who started playing the GTA series on GTA V...It's truly amazing to see where it really all begun.
Listening to this music I remember my life back then. Playing this in my PS1. No worries in life. My only task was to do the school homework and to have good grades. Such a good time where I complained about a lot of things I had no idea about. Today I'm 30, turning 31 in three months, I look back and I see all I came through until here. Such a journey. Very far from a perfect/happy life in this last 10 years but, it didn't kill me, so I grow stronger. Still... sometimes we all have that wish of going back, to be a child and/or a teenager with no real worries at all, and to be close to people we loved the most, but are not here anymore. I finish this saying games are not stupid or a waste of time as some say. Games are an experience and a haven for good memories of our life.
Sí pero que pongan la típica vista aérea del GTA Chinatown Wars, y una manera de quitarse a los polis de encima tipo gta chinatown wars, y muchas cosas más del GTA Chinatown Wars
@@UKSKIDS my favorite gta san andreas character is really underrated character.. it's Mike Toreno, idk if you heard of him, but I really like him! Some people hate Toreno, but I like him because he helped Cj brother to go out of a prison!
first time I heard this and played gta 2, I was quite stoned. I remember looking at my friend then and saying something along the lines of "man, this is gonna be good" we proceeded to have a fun 4 hour sesh of just stealing cars and running from the cops.
I remember in like 1999 I got both the original GTA and GTA 2 shortly after. Then a couple years later I noticed GTA 3 in a store and it changed my life. After that I was hooked and got into the hype of the Vice City release. A year of hype seemed a very long time back then. Now we’ve had over 10 years from V to VI.
When i was a boy, i would load up gta 2, put on sunglasses, and just groove away to this song for 5 minutes before i got to actually play the game. I felt like such a badass.
Winamp playing in the background. Compaq Presario computer. 1999. Summer. School break. I am in grade 8. Playing GTA 2 whenever I can. It was given to me from a friend on a CD disc that had multiple game files zipped in RAR archives, e.g. GTA2.rar. Took me a whole to figure out how to open these RAR files. I didn't have WinRaR but I had WinZIP. The latter didnt work on rar files and my friend finally gave me another CD that contained software like WINRAR, new Winamp, Download Manager, Office 1998, ACDsee, Opera browser, Windows Media Player, DirectX, Prompt, Abbyy Lingvo etc.
+Strax I still have a copy of gta2 for the ps2 although it's been years since I've played it! I still remember the cheats for it like 'itsallup' 'losefeds' 'muchcash' etc
Simon John Hinton PC and Dreamcast are the superior versions, especially PC with full EAX2 support and the only version playable in widescreen with some mods
I remember being maybe 3 years old, pretending to sleep on the couch so I could watch dad play this, I thought Claude was a dog and his leg was his tail. Clearly had no idea what this game was but I could tell it was awesome
@@QFilmz playing games from the worst universe doesn't mean anything when it comes to nostalgia. Nostalgia is when you play a game and are able to enjoy it many years later.
I don't know but there is something interesting and cool about gta series beginning. The first gta games were so simple, had good soundtracks and memorable lines. After gta 1 and 2, we had revolutionary 3d gta III, which started the 3d era with many other great titles. I am not saying gta 5 is bad, i mean that first gta games feel so...special.
This theme reminds me a lot to the song Where It's At by Beck. The organs, the drums, the general sound. It's like if they took the intro to that track and turned it into a whole song. Pretty good
Funny that in 1998 DMA studios (Rockstar North) developed a full 3D game for N64 called Body Harvest, and it was already showing signs of their rebel ways to do games. You even use WW1 German ship to destroy an alien barrier.
This game alwayes has a worm place in my heart, the opening, the music, the radios, the funny elvis npcs. The wacky factions and missions(That won't come back with rockstar today and PC culture). I really wish that GTA 2 gets a proper remster or even better a full Remake of the game.
So much nostalgia right now. I remember the first time I got this game.. I must have been about 9 or 10 and I would just play it for hours on end.. with no worry in the world. 25 now and got responsibilitys now and it's shit haha I wish I could go back to the simpler times.
I have 3 very fond memories of this game from my childhood: “UH HUH HUH. STEP ON” “GIMME UR WALLET!” And the Ice Cream Van jingle used to put me in hysterics.
I remember i saw that cover art for the first time, my child brain literally went 'THEY TOOK A PHOTO OF THE GAME, THEY MADE THE GAME THE COVER OF THE GAME, WHAT'
Oh damn... It was back in the day... Back on the ps1 when things were simple... No dlcs no online bitch player and no fucking pay 2 play shark cards BS... Man just the music make alot of memories come back to life... GTA 2 i will never forget you
"Respect is everything" Love this game, but I still find that ironic. Respect is everything in a game where you're punching out a taxi driver for his car, on top of stealing his lunch money.
One thing all the people born from mid 80s to 90s miss and all seem to be allright with it is I dont know life before used to have some kind of special flavor I dont know how to explain it and our nostalgia hit so hard and I dont know why even hearing old techno music from the 00s or 90s make me feel nostalgic they where really good times miss the 90s
