Glitch is possible on ALL versions of Grand Theft Auto III.
PlayStation 2 version ("PS2 Classics" release on PlayStation 4 shown here.)

If you use the cars fly cheat and go into the ground with the ghost car, your car will spin around causing the game to crash

I'd recommend being careful with this glitch on the PS2 version. In the PS2 version, sometimes you will get into the car but the car won't drop from the magnet and will be dragged into the car crusher, resulting in the player dying and causing the game to crash. This doesn't seem to happen on every other version of the game but it has happened to me on the PS2 version.

Imagine using that glitch to make an ambulance bullet-proof..or just use a bus to make the ambulance mission,i guess,that holding down that button glitch works that way aswell

I tried to make this glitch with a police car and as soon I entered the vigilante mission started and it was so bugged, then when I canceled the mission and got another taxi it didn't pop the tipical message to do the taxi mission, now I'm unable to activate the mission anymore

If anyone wants damaged proof ambulance or police car, my best way is doing the very first mission where Misty HAASSS to follow you and do the ghost car glitch if y'all want damage proof emergency vehicles, I have yet found a way to get firetruck to be ghosted since Dump site wont take it but Export/import crane will take it. So i grab the truck next to it and line it up but came back for another truck to line it up as well so firetruck is in position for crane to take firetruck but I haven't made luck yet so far. Lemme know if y'all was able to ghost Firetruck

So, you don't quite trigger it the same way, since the way you trigger taxi mission changed. But, it works the same with any(?) story mission with NPC that follows you to the car. Break the passenger door, park it blocking the driver door, do the same get out and get in thing. For sure works with Luigis Girls, probably works with other missions too.

What if you save and exit. Does the game reset the car or does it stay damage proof?

Yes even if you save and exit, then come back to the game another time, it will always be damage proof

I actually made a video (on my channel) where I was testing this taxi in the crusher last night and also testing an ambulance and could get neither to work. Im using the definitive edition on Xbox. Does anyone know if they patched this on the recently released TDE remakes? Also, does it have to be a taxi? Also does it require you have a passenger? I noticed you did it with Misty and the other passenger. Can you just do it with any car without a passenger? Just trying to figure out specifics

Because it's only impervious to vehicle and wall collision damage.

Has anyone tried to get firetruck being ghost? So far my idea is do the very first mission where misty HAS to follow you and take fire truck to emergency export site and try this, so far it seems is possible just need to time it right :D

to top that the car is not bullet proof, I'm playing it on the ps2 and I had a invincible infernus and I was doing the taxi missions and people shot my car but it doesn't smoke, it only sets on fire.
