This "definitive edition" is probably one of the biggest bruh moments in video game history

ROCKSTAR HAVE BUTCHERED THIS GAME, DO NOT BUY IT. Look at all the videos posted on RU-vid with 1000's bugs, glitches, laziness character modelling, missing fog, freezing, crashing, removed over 40 songs, rain now looks completely disgusting and cant see anything happening, the Sky box looks ridiculous, like you can see a dividing line in the middle, Swimming instead of CJ's head just bobbing in the water, now half his body sticks out while bobbing, the water effects from hovering over in a plane or helicopter over the water are gone and is now replaced with some weird ripple effect. its a pure cash grab. Rockstar should be ASHAMED what they have released here.

Finally, GTA for the gamecube, I've been waiting for a while

I pirated the definitive edition today and I'm not even feeling bad about it. I'm not angry because of how the game looks. -The performance is awful, my laptop with Ryzen 7 4800H and RTX 2060 should be more than enough to achieve 60fps in this game but it just can't. Even on lowest settings it is CPU bottlenecked, GPU utilization is not even 50% and it struggles to get 40-50fps average with poor frame-pacing making it not really enjoyable, and it's not even stable as I played for 20 minutes and already had one crash. -A little gimmick but ruining the first look at the game is that all of three games uses the same gta san andreas sounds in menus, and none of the games have any loading screen music. Also, Rockstar never renewed the licence for some of music from these games, so many tracks are missing, just like in mobile and later steam versions of these games. In original when you launched a new game in GTA Vice City the first thing you could hear in the radio was Michael Jackson - Billie Jean, but because that music is not in the definitive edition, you hear Laura Branigan - Self Control instead. -The worst thing however is controls, you can easily notice that the game was designed to be played on gamepad, as mouse control is awful, you can feel weird acceleration when you move your mouse fast and if you are in vehicle you can't easily control camera up and down, only left and right, and that's also something you can't change in settings. Also some keyboard controls are completely different than in original but that isn't that big of a deal. The weird thing is that when you ride a bike in San Andreas, CJ will always ride at full speed even if you just hold the W button, without tapping it rapidly like you had to do in original release. -Menu options are broken and although you can change options with left and right arrow, you can't move around menu screen with up and down arrow and use the mouse instead. Also as I'm polish, I started the game in polish language which also is poorly translated, and that is weird because the original release got a very good unofficial translation. This release is awful and I'm leaving [*] for everyone who spent any money on that game, Seeing that this game is also online-only if you bought it legally makes it even more hilarious and just shows how much rockstar games doesn't care about the quality of their products and about their consumers anymore. This is, in my opinion, probably the biggest disappointment of the year. I played 20-30 minutes of that crap and I will not launch that game anymore, unless some serious patches will appear. A complete overhaul to San Andreas would be dope af. Do what Mafia did.

I actually like this. They kept the unique style of the old game and just polished the graphics and shading.

My expectations were so low, I'm actually impressed for once

They rack up billions of dollars with gta online... And yet, they sell this for 60 dollars...I'm not saying this is not an ok remaster, but 60 dollars?...this greed hurts (not them apparently).

Even tho they're still patching the game, this trailer is still legendary.

Honestly i was just expecting the graphics to look exactly the same as the originals. But this actually looks pretty good.

I really like that everything is updated but they still kept the retro look for each game.

Disappointing they didn't start the trailer with "Ah shi, here we go again" in 4K

As much as these games were ground breaking back when they were released it's still been near twenty years since they were released and it shows. Yes, they've made the graphics passable and the gameplay looks to have been slightly updated but I can't justify the launch price. I will probably buy this in a sale in the future.

As a remaster, it looks pretty good. Still keeps that cartoony look the originals had too. That combined with all the information we got, including GTA 5-like controls, It's actually sounding promising. Still don't want to get my hopes too high, but so far so good. Can't wait!

I think it's cool that they went the route of maintaining the original art style and polishing it up. It's very stylized. If we don't like it, then there's always GTA V and the online stuff. I'll definitely check this one out on release.

The graphics looks great but is any else just super excited about the modern controls? Going back to old GTA games is tough with that old clanky control system.

This remaster looks like how we remember the game looking in our childhoods and not how the old games actually looked. Which is just perfect. It means we will get the same nostalgic feeling from the games, but at the same time we wont feel disappointed that it looks outdated. Personally i think this is the best way the could have done the remaster

Rockstar:Just put it into a lighting engine and sell it for 60 bucks. If modders get involved sue them

It’s not perfect but it still has way more enhancements than I expected, I can’t wait to play it.

I'm not gonna lie.... these games needed so much more graphical improvement to actually interest me (especially at this price tag)

GTA3 is my personal favourite. Looking forward to playing that with decent controls.

I am more interested in the "quality of life" changes. Will they improve the controls? Maybe add first person camera? Being able to save whenever you want it (like in GTA V)? And so on Edit: They confirmed they will add the controls from GTA V, so yeah, instant buy from me. Love these games. Vice City is the reason "open world" is my favorite genre. "improvements to targeting and lock-on aiming, updated Weapon and Radio Station Wheels, updated Mini-Maps with enhanced navigation allowing players to set waypoints to destinations, updated Achievements, Trophies, and more."

So, how many mods they used to make these old school amazing games look like that? I bet all of them 😁

When they said "we want you to get the same feeling like the old games, but with enhanced visuals" i knew it just meant that they were so lazy to make a proper remastered version and its gonna be just the old games with a graphics mod but way more expensive smh.

Ay, they actually put some effort into it. Has the Og style with Improved technical graphics. For a Remaster this is pretty solid.

Want to know what I really appreciate? How they remastered the out-dated controls to be adaptive with next generation consoles & with a complete graphical over-haul; but how they still made it feel like you were playing the original game with its original mechanics. It doesn’t feel feel like a different game. This is how the game would be if it was never released, until this year. I love that and am super excited for this!🖤 These 3 games deserve this attention.

This is kinda wild. It looks as "stunning" as it did to me when they first came out, yet re-done for modern expectations. Still a little cartoony, not hyper-realistic, and it hasn't strayed too far from the original character/world/etc designs, but it feels as "Ah yes, this is GTA" as ever. It's a weird feeling. Kind of comforting, but exciting because we get to play these games all over again in a whole new way.

Add Liberty City Stories as well as Vice City Stories to the pack as DLCs! Order them chronologically, like Halo MCC does: 1) Vice City Stories 2) Vice City 3) San Andreas 4) Liberty City Stories 5) 3 Those two masterpieces deserve to reach an audience beyond PSP/PS2/Emulation.

Now we need a manhunt and warriors remaster.

Looks like I'll be buying Rockstar 6: The Quest for More Money next month.

The remaster version is how I remember the graphics from when I was paying as a kid. This is great! The nostalgia kicks in but it seems more fun to play with better graphics.

Brings me back to my prime days of childhood and when times were better and simpler, with my old Nokia phone typing 3 buttons for one letter, learning to skateboard, blasting Hybrid Theory and Chocolate flavoured Starfish on my speaker, out on my bike for hours with friends, Viva la Bam on MTV and just these 3 games (and Tony Hawk’s) to get lost into for hours when I was actually home. The good ol’ days, when the world isn’t what it is now. I miss it

My low expectations for the remaster is make it optimised for modern machines. There's still the question of what's been done with the content and I know the more cartoony aesthetic will be somewhat divisive but with low poly models like those, I'm sure it was the best call.

30 years career as an executive to: "Let's make inferior mods than people make for free and sell them for full price."

I was hoping they'd actually re-model the characters but nope, they downloaded a lighting mod and called it a day

All the characters actually have 10 fingers now. I'm sold. All jokes aside this remaster does look pretty good. Looking forward replaying these games.
