After its first race in 1977 featured just 150 runners, Grandma's Marathon has now grown into the 12th largest marathon in the United States.
Starting in Two Harbors and running to Duluth, the relatively fast and flat racecourse is bordered nearly the entire 26.2 miles by the scenic shoreline of Lake Superior.
The stunning natural beauty of Minnesota's North Shore combined with the overwhelming support of thousands of spectators have helped make Grandma's Marathon one of the most highly regarded road races in the entire nation.
Come experience it for yourself. With more than 20,000 runners and tens of thousands more volunteers and fans, Grandma's Marathon weekend is the unofficial kickoff to summer in northeastern Minnesota.
