The generation the PS3 belongs to I think is the first one where 3D actually paid off. PS1/2 simply doesn’t look that great. It’s like the NES. The games are perfectly playable 2D games, miles ahead of something like the Atari 2600. The SNES generation were the pinnacle of 2D graphics in many ways. The N64/PS1/etc were closer to the 2600 as far as stepping stones goes. Just in 3D. The PS5 is still way better, but the PS3 is fully playable. Shame we can’t play PS3 titles on the PS5:(

What?! Wasn't that the great think of the past seeing the graphics evolve from year to year and now its hard to see the difference between ps4 and 5,i think that really sucks.

@@flekkzo Okami on the ps2 still looks great! The majority of the ps2 games don't held up graphically tough.

And it literally released early in the generation and wasn't topped until later in the generation. MGS4 holds up well today. Kojima just knows how to make graphically impressive games as Death Stranding is pretty striking today.

As I remember, Konami put the graphics in the perspective the following way: "There are as many polygons in Snake's mustache as there are in the enemy soldiers in MGS3". Always amused me :D

Can't believe that I forgot Puppeteer, which is basically what Balan Wonderworld is in its most beautiful dreams in that both are platformers with a beautiful dreamy theater aesthetic and gorgeous soundtrack, with gameplay heavily focused on collecting and swapping between up to 3 cosmetics at a time which also serve as your HP, with extremely random bonus stages that can be found mid-level (with each Act having 3 levels), and extremely flashy QTE finishers (for the bosses). It's also what Majora's Mask would be as a level based 2D platforming meta-comedy, in that it is about a young boy who is attacked and transformed by a lonely and petulant child who went mad with power he gained from stealing a divine artifact which he is using to transform his friends and have them corrupt local biomes and threaten all life in the world using the moon, and the gameplay involves swapping faces for Metroidvania and contextual reasons, and your fairy companion is basically the charmingly hilarious halfway point between Tatl and Midna.

XIII is my favorite. I love the Soundtrack, visuals and combat system. Idc for the story much.

@@sofaking3486 Where are the exclusives now? The only one I see that looks decent is the Demon's Souls remake, but I'm not a fan of the new art style and I've already played the original to death. I can't understand why they wouldn't collaborate with From again and make a Bloodborne sequel. That game sold a shitload of PS4's including my own. But right now, there's nothing I see that would even make me consider getting a PS5.

Add the Ratchet games to the list You will NOT regret playing Tools of Destruction or Crack in Time If you want more modern R&c stuff, pick up Into the Nexus digitally if you can. Great little game.

Absolutely. Even by the end of the PS3/360 gen it held up as one of the best looking games of the gen. Resident Evil 5 too

Tools of Destruction is a very good looker too. ESPECIALLY compared to it's predecesors. A part of me wishes they went back to it's artstyle. CiT is a really good looking game and I just love it's artstyle. ITN can straight up look like a PS4 game

@@Dzzy123 CiT Ratchet is my fav iteration of him in general. He seems generally more mature in this one while still keeping most of the ToD sass. He also sports the coolest armor desing in this one. I wish Insomniac could somehow go back to the CiT artstyle in general, but I'll take what we get. Really, I just want a spiritual sucessor to CiT, down to the artstyle. No game before or after CiT (though Tools gets somewhat close) feels like CiT.

I haven't played the PS5 title yet so I won't comment on it, but going from A Crack in Time to the 2016 remake felt very disappointing as far as content and gameplay went. A Crack in Time offered so much more. It's my second favorite after GC. Tools of Destruction was great too and I'd pick it over the remake as well.

@@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams Yeah, nearly all fans agree that the 2016 remake wasn't as good as previous entries. It ran at 30 frames on PS4, and it ruined the character arc between Ratchet and Clank found in the original game.

My exact problem with the game. Loved the battle system, but having to wait like 40 hours for the game to open up was just too much for me 😅

The battle system was one of my favourites, I just couldn't deal with walking foward down various corridors for 20 hours...

IT's my favorite JRPG of all time. The pacing isn't perfect, but that's a problem with every game story imo.

I used to think heavenly sword was gorgeous - which it was at the time. I just played it last week and I said “this is rough” lol Frame rate drops constantly but I still love it

@@DeeZeeJohnson yes it has scan lines and rgb & hdmi. Its one of the best tvs to play older consoles on. The only downside is the aspect ratio. I have a 24” one from Crosley. I used to play dreamcast games on and the difference is night & day. You can find them on Ebay & other sites.

exactly, game gets too much hate for no reason but i think its mainly a bandwagon to hate that game. ff10 and 7 remake were pretty linear and noone complains about that.

The switch is more powerful, measuring in flops alone isn't accurate for determining the power of the console but the PS3 is still very powerful for its time

To be fair, mid-generation refreshes exist, and PS5 is still young--not to mention, games are only recently being made without the PS4 in mind. Mid-to-late generation I'm sure we'll look back on PS4 and notice quite a difference. I mean, the difference between late PS4 and PS3 is quite significant.
