Good video and review. I agree with everything you're saying. Scag is HARD to beat! I cut the same grasses as you. I can't wait to demo the V-Ride 2 when it hits my dealership!

My guess would be that the cut quality is just different blades more than the deck . I know people who live by gator blades but with the lawns I mow they dont have enough lift to pull up tall stringy fescues . Put the scag blades on the gravely and see how it cuts . I bet scag standard blades have more lift .Just a thought . Great video

People would be quick to hate in a cub cadet and I understand. Bc I have too. But I ended up getting one for free from a customer and that lawn mower is so awesome. It cuts amazing and you couldn’t scalp with it if you wanted to.

Most modern decks cut really well in any frass bevsuse they have baffles that can be moved depending on where u are located and what grass you cut

Good review! I personally am a Scag fan, but I would like to see a demo of the Toro Grandstand or Exmark Vantage, they seem like solid machines, but I would like to see how good their cut quality is.

Nice video. The Gravely looks like a nice machine. Local dealer sells both Scag and Gravely. I run Toro grandstand myself. We use Toros because the toro dealer is the best in our area.

I couldn't agree more about scags velocity decks I have an older scag tiger cub with a 36inch deck and well into 4500 hours it's still my first choice

I agree with you, Blake. I have both a Scag cheetah and a gravely pro turn. While the gravely is built like a tank, it is not in the same league as the velocity plus cut quality. I used to have a Deere and the seven iron comes close though, but does not stripe as well.

good video blake i would like to see you do a review of a ferris stander z1 or z2 maybe with a icd deck. i have a 36 inch z1 and the cut is really good with the stock blades.

I noticed this issue with cut quality with my ZT HD. I plan on either sharpening the blades or getting new ones depending on if sharpening fixes the issue. Blake if you did either one please inform me on what you did and if it made a difference. Thanks for the video.

The zt hd has a different deck I do believe. The X factor 2 deck on the pro stance has adjustable baffles. They are made to be adjusted for different types of grasses.

Did you ever try switching blades? My stock life gravely blades where junk. Switched them up to high lift and a world of difference. Also there is an adjustable baffle on the deck for different types of mowing conditions. Just a thought. Nice vid man

@@topnotchlion1524 I put scag hi lifts on my 52". You need to re level the deck though when you do this because the scag blades are flat and the gravely blades are offset.

What blades were you using? Did you adjust or remove the baffles under dlthe deck? I have found that the extreme high lift blade cuts the best but it kills the horsepower. The high lift blades definitely cut better than the normal blades. I have also removed the baffles and it seems to help also. Good video Blake!

If you are mowing 3in or higher on the gravely you have to adjust the baffles under the deck I had the same problem till I raised the baffles up then it started cutting like a scag

Can you explain what makes the Scag deck so much different that it cuts that well? Also, I can only guess (you can confirm) that if the deck has amazing cut quality it must have a drawback. What is the drawback to the Scag deck? Thanks for any help, I am new to the lawn care industry.

logdon17 scag deck doesnt cut well in reverse but also that could be a baffle issue. Most modern decks have baffles that can be moved depending on what grass your cutting.

Two things to make it better. Adjust the baffles to 1/4 below the blade and switch to Scag stock blades .

I own the Pro Turn 52, same deck and it cuts the same way! Like the mower but the cut isn't the greatest.

U will get that cut if u use rhe gator blades. Stock gravely arent good. I run a 60 52 and 36 all gravely. Love them. When u run crews or guys they hold up like no other. Tanks r exactly right. Used gravely for 14 yrs now

in my opinion, the ferris icd deck is alot better at processing grass then the scag, it has a very wide discharge opening and clumps less then scag. you should try the ferris z3x 52 with the 37 hp vanguard engine it has all the features you need from a stander. it has a 500 hour oil change, holds steep hills, and has a pivoting front axle, which helps prevent scalping.

What about Toro mowers? I know Rookie and MowTown use them. Since Toro purchased Exmark, would you rate Toro as an upper end mower? Love to hear your (and others) opinion.

toro has always been solid. i've used the older riders with some satisfaction. i have a colleague who has a newer one as well ( he's been using toro riders a lo ng time ) and he has no complaints. i've used older toro push mowers and i'm using a newer 7.25 horse personal pace, and it leaves stragglers. maybe a regular highlift blade would make a difference, as opposed to the mulching blade it comes with, or the gator blade i put on it.

I have a 22 inch personal pace and a Titan 52 zero turn. Putting gator blade on 22" for small yard mulching leaves. Can't wait to see the results. Do u recommend gator blades for the 52"?
