Great analysis. I have a Gravely Pro Stance 48 and love it. I consider your minor complaint of the Gravely being long as a plus. I find it to be very well balanced. I didn’t know how good a machine this was until after I bought it.

Another great video! I like watching comparison videos like that. I agree about the oil change on the Wright. Tried it on a demo and busted my knuckle open and bruised the side of my hand when it let lose. 😖😤

You made an excellent point about the deck covers. Ive thought the exact thing, im sure there is a reason they aren't open on the end but it would be far easier to get someone to blow it every yard if they didn't need to do anything.

Good reviews! For me, Ed Wright is why Wright mowers are where they are today. I run Scag’s because of my dealer, but if there was a Wright dealer closer, and the dealer was worth it, I’d be interested in trying them out.

Awesome video. Only thing I think you missed was cut quality. I’m sure Wright > gravely on that. I’m a scag owner and I feel scags cut quality powers over any other brand (IMO). But again killer video definitely like the comparison

Dude! While I was editing this video it hit me like a freight train! I failed to mention cut quality. I put both mowers on the same properties with same conditions and they performed dang near identical. Different regions and types of turf would most likely skew that.

This year (2022) I tried a gravelly 52 at a dealership...not sure if it was a '21 or '22, but what impressed me the most was that it seemed that the machine was designed specifically for inexperienced employees to where anyone could drive the thing and never tear up the turf. I was actually blown away by this. It seemed as if the drive wheels were somehow synced up to go in and out of turns so smoothly as to not cause damage. Did you find this to be true as well?

What about cut quality which one is better and do either of these mowers can you get a bagging system for like the Toro grandstand

I put both mowers on the same properties with same conditions and they performed dang near identical. Different regions and types of turf would most likely skew that. I have heard pros and cons to both mowers from contractors in different geographical regions. Best advice, demo before purchase. Neither mower offers a bagging system like the Toro or SCAG.

I love the Wrights. Only mower I wanna run. Can just cut the side of the pulley covers off and then just grind down the edges to make them smooth so that there's no sharp edges for anyone to get cut.

How do like the Gravely Chute Blocker? Just bought a Pro stance 52 and looking at ordering one. I noticed you have the pulley cover removed, is that a must for operation?

Being 100% transparent I think it needs a little more engineering to be perfect. On slopes it wants to shut. On the 48 the pulley cover would not go back on with the chute blocker installed...why, I've not clue? If I owned the ProStance I'd probably go with a different brand like Qwikchute.

The engine on the Gravely is frame mounted, not floating with the deck. Doesnt that mean more belt stretching when you change the height of cut?

Yes the belts move when changing the height of the deck. This is one reason why I preferred the Wright Standers over the Gravely.

I had a gravely 152, It never gave a good cut. The Wright had a better cut and the belt routing is awesome.. I am in Florida and the Wright gives a great cut to the point where neighbors comment about the lawn "looking good"

I’ve never been in favor of removing a safety switch on any piece of equipment. I certainly couldn’t do it on a demo unit. 😬

Why no comparison on how to clean underside of deck. The toughest most frequent maintenance is cleaning the packed in grass and blade sharpening.

It’s not a common comparison when putting mowers head to head. We all know that mower decks cake on grass and it’s not something that will make or break a sale. Between the two, the Stander X is easier to scrape because there are less bolt heads in the way. Blade sharpening is irrelevant when comparing mowers. @@mithgo_outdoor here is a link to a mower with tool-less deck removal, not ZTR, but same principle. Access to the blades and scraping is tougher as you age, I'm 60. I use an oil extractor. Under my Mower Maintenance playlist you’ll see it on the ZK oil change video. Link for it in my description...it works great. Still doesn’t help with getting the oil filter on and off ugh

I'm confused by your Gravely's too long comment. According to literature, the wright is 3" longer than the Gravely.

My comment had to do with the Gravely being too long with the platform down. I mentioned this discrepancy in the video actually. With the platform folded up on the Gravely you are correct, the Wright is 3" longer. But while you're mowing the Gravely is much longer overall. Thanks for tuning in W

Hannah wins you cheated Mitchell 🤣 l like the Wright because of Ed Wright l think if you had a serious problem Ed would be there for you and not Gravely l had 6 Gravely mowers in the mid 90/s and had a lot of service related problems you wouldn't have with other manufacturers also l think it's a good idea to have the drive tires close to the mower deck almost hitting it take care my friend 😁

The Z3X is not a comparable mower in this segment since it is not available with a 48" deck. Did you mean the Z1X? I don't know of anyone that runs the Z1X, only the Z3X.

I have zero fears of any client, present or future, firing me due to a brief moment in a video that was clearly staged. What I choose to do on my own personal property is of no concern to any customer. If it bothers them that bad thank God there’s 1,000 other contractors for them to choose from.

Why would someone compare a mid grade Wright machine, against the top machine that Gravely makes? The ZK Wright is better in every category than the Gravely. Maybe you are new to the mowing industry.

🤣 you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. The Stander X and the Gravely ProStance are both in the same category. Also, the Stander X isn’t a “mid-grade” mower. The X is a 100% commercial mower and was the first frame design offered by Wright Mfg years ago. Not everyone needs the larger frame mowers like a ZK. Also, Gravely doesn’t currently make a stand on mower that compares to the ZK, hence why I didn’t do a comparison video between the two. Maybe you should educate yourself on mowers before commenting next time. Have a great day
