you grossly overestimate the power of both my computer and internet speed. For the country that invented WIFI, Australia sure does have the worst broadband
@@ethanwilde4716 i believe the word is anthropoid . Or human shaped. Basically wider at the elbow and narrow at the feet. And the head part narrow. So it makes the classic shape.
I almost kinda hope for a game like this that is more subtle and just allows you to do the job normally for a few nights and just enjoy the atmosphere before really getting to the running and screaming.
What a door-changing game! Saw like 4 different doors change: the church double doors had been replaced with a simple door. The office room got 3 iterations too, one with the handle to the right, one with the handle to the left, and one with a spheric handle. It was awesome noticing such little details!
58:02 That's really cool! My dad is a mortician. Our surname is Johnson and he was born in 1968 I watched this with my dad, and he got a weird look on this scene
The text on the graves is indeed in Polish but the game is from the American youtuber Teaserplay. The whole cemetery is an Unreal Engine 5 asset pack called "Cemetery Full Pack" from user Med-art.
7:54 - the name on the grave has kinda faded but it does mention that whoever was buried there was an officer of the Polish army. Born (or deceased?) on the 23rd of Jan 1858. That's very interesting because Poland was still partitioned by Austria, Russia and Germany at the time, so didn't really have its own army until 1918 so he would have been 60 by then. The accent of the main character sounds a bit German to me. Great video as always though 👌
The funny fact is as well that there was more grave inscriptions in Polish in that game 😂 probably used by developers purposely as polish cemeteries are quite creepy

It's always good to watch to watch a horror game played by my favourite RU-vidr in a friday night while I prepare some pancakes and a coffee. Plus, I have to appreciate you uploading absolute bangers everyday. It's so good to watch some creepy and comfy content while eating or before going to bed. I just hope you aren't getting burned out by doing this. You know we love your content but your mental health always have to come first. If you need, you can always take a break. We obviously won't get mad at you. It's for you health after all. Anyways, good watch to everyone. I hope you all are good.
As much as I hate jumpscares, this game's graphics are unquestionably beautiful, more than one might come to expect from a game in this genre. Demons and ghosts aside, this looks like a place that it'd be lovely to explore in the real world.
I'm fascinated by supernatural horror set in, or in close proximity to a densely populated urban area. The way those buildings loom over the cemetery, you have to wonder, would someone be able to catch glimpses of these events unfolding from the mundane comfort of an office or apartment window? Rose Red is another example. Would someone be able to catch a drive-by glance of some figure in a window of the big out-of-place manor as they're making their way through the busy traffic of the freeway? Perhaps someone could see a ghost, demon or other supernatural being taking on a humanoid form without any clue of what they've just darted their eyes across from a distance. There could be places down the block from you with a rich tapestry of dark lore, and perhaps you've seen some of it peripherally, but you might never know. Maybe the things there have seen you.
There is a difference between a coffin and a casket. Coffins are wooden boxes that are made to measure and have the distinct near-diamond shape, which allows a tight fit of the body when the arms are folded over the chest. Meanwhile, a casket is rectangular, made from a variety of materials from wood or plastic to metal, and is upholstered inside. Caskets also have a hinged, bisected top, allowing for viewings, while coffins are generally nailed shut. Speaking as someone who loves graveyard settings (and even almost landed a job as a grave digger), I do honestly appreciate the atmosphere of this game. However, while my opinion has softened a little after seeing several Let's Players cover it, I still find Graveyard Shift to be quite disappointing. The linearity and how the game allows you a little early exploration only to force you on rails for the majority of the story really hurts my appreciation. I think if the anomalies and/or scares were randomised and we had a couple options for endings, the game would be magnitudes better - not to mention more replayable. Still, it seems everyone who plays this game has a different opinion at the end. Most I've seen have been bogged down by disappointment, as my own opinion is, but I've also now seen a more positive take to balance out the few truly negative ones. I'd love to see this game redone with the same atmosphere, but with that much-needed freedom that multiple endings give and the greater suspense that having random events and the ability to explore at any point would give.
That grave at about 7:55-8:00 I couldn't really read that well but I could make out "Wojska Polskiego" which means "(of) Polish Army". So I guess You were correct about it being Polish!
@@baldwinhestrut402 I wrote this comment right after I read that grave. I haven't seen credits yet. Also I refered it being Polish to a language on that Tombstone to congratulate Librarian that He recognize our language.
So, once again, the Librarian proves that the games I don't personally enjoy, are more then enjoyable when done right, as he seems to do while not repeating himself
he's got so many more stingers of the same caliber, but this one got me as well! There needs to be a compilation of The Librarian's greatest quotes and one-liners ^-^
I discovered your channel not too long back, while looking at lets plays on the game scanner sombre and seeing if it was worth buying. after that your channel was all over my recommended page and I was getting pretty annoyed to be honest, until I actually started watching them. It's something about your voice. If I'm just playing it as background noise while doing school work or chores, your voice sounds so reassuring. Even at the time of writing this its 4 am but your voice keeps me hooked (I know It's a little weird), along with the way you talk. I feel what you usually commentate is pretty obvious, but obvious in a deep and logical sense. But on closer inspection it's stuff I would have likely missed myself. Almost as hooking as you voice are your videos. I always thought I'd never find a youtuber like you, if I'm being honest. But your videos keep me going. That all may sound weird, but still I think its safe to say you're now my comfort youtuber. Stay creepy and comfy! (sorry if this is hard to read. I'm very tired and don't speak English as a native language.)
I actually got really annoyed that he talks about ANYTHING randomly and sounds cringe sometimes (hating his sound), then a ton of gmod vr horror later I'm still watching.
I really enjoyed watching you play this, your commentary is hilarious, you’re very eloquent in your speech, and you don’t come across as performative like some horror RU-vidrs (which there’s nothing wrong with, I still enjoy a good Markiplier horror playthrough). You’re just super genuine, I’m glad I found you and I’m looking forward to more games! ♡
Some music trivia related to the game . The song that comes on in the car is performed by Robert Johnson the blues singer . He allegedly met the devil once and sold his soul to him . A bit of humor by the game developer most likely . Anyway nice play through video . 👍
1:05:11 I’m pretty sure these aren’t glasses, but coins placed on the eyes to pay the ferryman to cross the River Styx in the Underworld. PS That song on the radio at the end sounds like 1938 Robert Johnson’s “Cross Road Blues”, about the devil, of course
u should play the final station its a rlly good short game about you being the last train conductor on earth in a zombie apocalypse and it has really interesting lore and an unexpected ending for me its a 9/10 even if its not horror per say its still a rlly nice vibe and has some scares here and there
Lots of small unanswered mysteries here. Where did the spilled dinner go? The cook pot, the burner and table it was on, the big propane jug, the mess on the floor, all just vanished. Red herring or something you didn’t get to that filled out the play time others experienced?
10:48 Yeah i would have straight barricade the door considering the guy said a priest died of an heart attack before you took the shift, at the beginning of the game!
"The only thing that can put down a vampire is by caving its brains in with a crowbar." Are you sure that's not for Chinese vampires? I mean, that wouldn't even be the strangest thing about 'em.
When the note said he was looking for the devil. Maybe it meant he was hunting the devil like a religious person fighting darkness by ending up consumed by it.
I didn’t understood the plot, was everything a dream or it actually happened? Did the protagonist died at the cemetery or at the car crash? Did we actually burned the Elia’s body? Who was the tall guy, was he a ghost a person? The story could’ve been a bit better constructed.
9:40 I'm not personally aware of anything unusual to do with Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. Nothing cursed or supernatural, anyway. It's noteworthy to me because it's not intended to be a portrait of a real person.
7:57 Okay, so I don't see exactly what it says due to the brightness being quite low, but what I can make out is: OFICER WOJSK POLSKICH 0?.23 STY - 1?98 ??? Translation: OFFICER OF POLISH FORCES 0?.23 JAN (January) - 1?98 (Rest of text unintelligeable) It is odd how the text is in Polish... Might make you think that the cementary is in Poland and this takes place in Poland, but no. The graveyard doesn't look Polish, it's way too pretty and open. Polish graveyards are like giant grids of tightly packed tombstones. Maybe the guy was just honored here as a war hero. After all there ARE famous people burried here, as we have heard. Edit: 15:51 holy crap, there's more! And actually readable! I'll translate directly SCULPTOR LIVED FOR 46 YEARS (Maybe 56, cant tell) 1ST NOVEMBER 1867 (or 1667, or even 1887. Cant tell the difference between 6 and 8) PEACE BE TO HIS SOUL (Common saying when talking about the dead)
Wait, did the game make you use a riveter as a tool to disconnect the car alarm's wire? Car wires usually have plugs you just pull off with a little tab you press down while pulling, but I get it, "we need a pretext for the player to get into the warehouse" so they make you cut the wire. But I wonder why a riveter, like, didn't they find a plyers model? Or they didn't know what it was and said "mmh, seems thingamabobby enough"? Game's good, but there's that detail that's just been bugging me
@3:14: The first guy whose mouth doesn't move pronounced the word _'tranquility'_ as _"tranquality"._ Must be a side-effect of speaking with their mouth closed.
