Grease the tensioner arm pivots at your own peril because that attracts dirt and debris and can cause them to stick (thus having the belt thrown or destroyed). I use carb cleaner at my tensioner pivots in order to keep things clean, dry, and moving. Before each use, with engine off, I used gloved hands to shake each tensioner pivot to assure freedom of movement.

Dry lube or dry graphite grease works great with dirt etc not sticking to it and works great! Dry graphite powder or grease is also recommended to use in all lock and ignition cylinders as well. Great videos you got on your channel! Keep up the good work! Sorry if my last comment sounded like I was trying to tell you what to do or if it seemed my suggested method was better haha it wasn't my intention at all, just merely a suggestion if you didn't know about the dry lube or dry graphite is all. I have 8 hours now on my E120. You can easily jump out the really annoying seat and reverse safety switches without cutting wires. The hydrostatic is awesome with those switches jumped out. I was afraid the deck grease fittings were difficult to get to. At this rate I will probably end the summer with about 25 hours. I will do the 30 second oil change and maybe take it back the the dealer and have them check it out for next year. I don't enjoy wrenching on things anymore.

The bearings in the spindles are sealed bearings so when you attempt to grease to grease the spindle no grease is gearing to the bearings so you are wasting your time greasing them. This was confirmed to me be a JohnDeere dealer. To remedy this situation you need to remove the dark from the unit remove the spindles and remove the top and bottom bearings in each spindle, you will see that both bearings are sealed bearings, so when you pump grease into the spindle no grease is reaching the bearings To remedy this remove the seal on one side of the bearings and reinstall in the spindle with the bearings facing the interior of the spindle and re install on Tahoe mower deck

they are just dust covers not "seals " lol you can pick them out with your fingernail and people think they gone stop grease from entering , lol. a grease gun puts out like 10 000 psi every pump , grease until you see grease come out ends of spindles , grease will go threw bearing as it was designed , it takes approx 40 pumps each when new , every time you remove the berrings for no reason you are enlarging the soft aluminum spindle housing , the bearings need to be a press fit if not you will get a spun bearing and you spindles will be junk , .you need to knurl the spindle and / or use loctight berring retainer when putting them back if they are a loose fit .

Good video, but just want to say. My craftsman lt1000 was 20 yrs old and all I ever did to the deck was new blades and belts. I personally would not spray grease on pivot points because of the environment they are in. Sand and grass will hold in the grease. You obviously go to greater lengths cleaning your deck so it works for you.

Taking care of your high dollar investment called a good quality lawn tractor is good preventive mantenance. Yours will last a lot longer then the ones left in the yard where they stopped mowing! Hey and about that nuisance backup button that John Deere puts on all the Riders, It doesn't make sense so you look forward at your button switch, you push the button and you will probably back up before you turn around and look what's behind you and you will probably run over and hit whatever you was trying to avoid where as jumping that switch out allows you to immediately look behind you before backing up this switch is a no-brainer engineering design to sell more switches like that. For demonstration information only. Hehe Great video, to the point and get er done!

I am wanted to replace the fittings on the spindles because I could not get a grease gun on them - they sit too low relative to the deck. I thought a fitting with a 45 degree arm would do the trick. The JD dealer only had the replacement part and was not very helpful. Looking at the parts list, I saw that the fitting came on the spindles, with no specs provided. FINALLY, I was able to locate what I needed in the specialty nuts and bolts section of my hardware store (basically a series of metal cabinets with small pullout drawers.) I found a metric grease fitting, M6 - 1.0, 45 degrees, regular pitch. The old one came out using an 8mm open end wrench (be careful so you don't break the fitting off) and the new one was tightened with a 9 mm wrench. So funny to see the comment above that the bearings are sealed and greasing this fittings is a waste of time. I hope not.

Thanks for the comment on defeating that stupid reverse switch! I had a hard time getting to the grease fittings on the spindle and swapped them out for some with a 45 degree angle... This is not the best way to override the reverse switch. I did this and it started to work intermittently, snowblower was still shutting off when backing up sometimes. Read somewhere that it can cause a solenoid or something to overheat because it is like you are holding down the reverse switch the whole time you are using the tractor. The better method is to just disconnect the reverse sensing switch underneath the tractor so that the tractor doesn't even know you are in reverse. And by disconnect, I don't mean the wiring harness connected to the switch, but the whole switch itself...in my case I just unbolted it, spun it around 180 degrees so the arm that activates it when in reverse no longer makes contact with it. Very easy to do, and tractor has worked perfectly ever since.

you grease until it comes out end of spindles and goes threw bearings takes 40ish pumps to fill spindle when new , grease goes into bearing , 5-6 pups will do once it is full and that will purge the old grease around berrings and fill them with new grease , 5-6 pumps when new will do nothing @@DIYJIM

they are just dust covers not "seals " lol you can pick them out with your fingernail and people think they gone stop grease from entering , lol. a grease gun puts out like 10 000 psi every pump , grease until you see grease come out ends of spindles , grease will go threw bearing as it was designed , it takes approx 40 pumps each when new , after that do like 10 per each to purge old contaminated grease and it will fill with berrings with new grease ,, every time you remove the berrings for no reason you are enlarging the soft aluminum spindle housing , the bearings need to be a press fit if not you will get a spun bearing and you spindles will be junk , .you need to knurl the spindle and / or use loctight berring retainer when putting them back if they are a loose fit .

You know the spindles have sealed bearings in them, the only way you going to get grease into the bearings in the spindles is to take the spindles apart and remove one side of each bearing seal, to where you can Grease the bearings in the spindles.

Sir, Greasing the arbors is a waste of time. The bearings are sealed. No grease will ever get into the bearings. You can remove the bearings and grease them. It is not a hard job.Lawn mower repair shops are ripping the customers off by replacing the entire arbor.Steves Small Engine Saloon explains this.

@@GTObearclaw1 Sure, you get the grease into the towers but the bearings are sealed . To remedy this remove the towers from the deck and remove the bearings. Remove the seals that face the inside of the towers. Replace tower bearings, fill towers with grease and reinstall towers into deck. Now the bearings are getting grease. Hope this clarifies this. @@RaysLaughsAndLyrics WRONG. that’s a huge waste of time And removing the inner seals does no good. Actually in my opinion the inner bearing on the upper seal actually holds grease inside the bearing on top side rather than let it leak down when gravity and heat start working on it. Taking it apart and Removing seals is absolutely pointless and counter productive. Just a bunch of nonsense from folks that have no idea what they are doings and making a video just to have another topic without knowing the required information and feeding people the wrong info. that’s why I made a video that actually shows what happens when you grease bearings with a inner seal still in place. Funny so many folks think that a little rubber dust seal will stop pressurized grease from passing. Don’t be a follower, use your brain and think about this for a minute or just watch the video I made and you will see what happens when the theory is tested. Here is the link again, maybe you didn’t see it in my prior message. I can’t help everyone. Some folks will argue even when they can’t prove the theory they just follow like blind sheep. It’s here for those that care. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PwObkilFXN0.html heck make a video proving me wrong. I’d love to see it.
