@@gazzabazzazza Indeed 😁 I enjoy OAs summary videos about titles that I've not played yet. So I look out for these sorts of videos from OA. But they need to cover original content. There are a good half a dozen or so new games I have not seen before on Steam atm so I was hoping OA would cover some of these newer titles.
I keep waiting for it to complete - I hate relearning game mechanics, controls, inputs, etc. I find that a problem with new games already, but refuse to engage with it in the same game repeatedly - so I wait for completion.
Does anyone ever say, "Oh goody, I love a game with Quick-Time-Events!". Surely there must be people that like that style of gameplay, or they wouldn't keep making games with QTEs, right..
Evochron Legacy is a game I bought for by phone for $2 USD. I used the controller phone attachment and it worked fine. I did not try the PC version but it is similar to Elite where the player need to find out what they want to do.
Evochron Legacy is an amazing feat. It's a space sim on the scale of X4 or Star Citizen that clocks in at 800Megabytes. It looks damn good given the developer got it down to that size. Also another solo dev effort - showing up the likes CIG and Bethesda. A dev who really deserves your support - active on his game and forums helping people; much like the Void Destroyer dev as well. It's a shame that companies like Cloud Imperium Games scam so many people out of 700m with nothing to show for it - whereas hardworking devs like for Evochron, they don't get a fraction of the success and recognition they deserve. Support devs like this instead of spending more money on Star Citizen jpgs. See how its really done.
Speaking of large scale space sims by indie devs, I also highly recommend "pioneer space sim". It is quite an old title, but about as realistic of a space sim as you can get physics wise (and the combat exists. Not the best, but definitely quite challenging at the start till you find out how to easily dodge projectiles)
Oh stop...no need to bash on SC. They're literally doing something no studio would dare do because of the time, expense, and effort involved; also, they didn't start with all the money at once, everyone parrots the "half a billion dollars" thing as if it's a scam, but they got the money as they went, they didn't start with a war chest like normal game studios who already have not only all their funding but all their employees and a fully set up building. CIG started off with 5 guys in a literal storage garage, only half were actual employees as the rest were still working at other companies; took them 5 years to actually get going as a real studio, so the whole "10 years development" thing doesn't seem that bad because it's not like they had all those employees with multiple studios during that initial period.
I've recently been playing Avorion, which I bought in the steam sale. Wow, Looks quirky (as in the blocky minecraft style) but once you get passed that, the game is a great space sim along the lines of X4 (but you don't get out of the ship and walk around; you're in a ship and thats it). Got about 20hrs into it, Definately reccomend it 😀
Planet Crafter looks like a relaxing game for those of us that don't like getting attacked from behind every five minutes. Maybe not all that ambitious, but maybe just my speed.
So torn on The Planet Crafter. Very Subnautica-like, but with even less story. I found it incredibly grind-y and wound up having to throw mods at it or quit outright. No spoilers, but the 'ending' did actually cause me to delete it.
The gameplay loop is addicting but the map is *literally unfinished* (you can walk of the edge if world!) and the crappy UI makes building extremely tedious. What mods did you use?
@@MichaelPohoreski The biggest helper was a mod that allowed for stacked inventory, so I didn't have to constantly run between base and wherever I was on the map. Similarly, a craft from nearby container mod. I detest games that become 'inventory management sims' and those two helped with that quite a bit. I believe I also installed one that accelerated the value of rockets quite a bit. Even with these, it took like 75 hours to get to the end game despite there being IMO about 25 hours of fun gameplay. I cannot imagine how long it would have taken if I didn't install these.
@@DamianSheesh What, you don't like the free built-in Tetris(TM) Inventory Management mini-game in games? /s 🙂 Thanks for the mod info! Stacked inventory would be a god send. Yeah, the grind gets pretty tedious late game.
I played STO since open Beta. Let me tell you about end game. You need a good ship. The game will provide a generic vessel of the equivalent level as you reach the level cap (10 level increments per ship) but you will not care for that ship. It will not take advantage of your class like a proper - store bought - ship will. I paid into this game when the cap was level 50 and spent on all ships for my classes on both Federation and Klingon sides. This came to a couple hundred dollars - I was okay since it was the end game - I thought. Once the revenue slowed - they increased the cap making ALL those purchases antiquated in one patch. I will not go back.
recently stumbled across something called Archean. Looks interesting.Somewhat Space Engineer-y but with real orbital mechacics and space movement and stuff. and simulating whole planets. Have it in my wishlist now. We'll see. Reviews are promising but needs an RTX because it uses only Raytracing for lighting and stuff. Also some nice actioned up and streamlined NMS clone from Ubisoft for 5$. Weirdly named Starlink but nothing to do with The Musk.
Planet Crafter is a great little game especially if you like to see your positive impact on the environment unfold around you. I have spent 114 hours on the game so far and actually refuse to complete the game even though I have completed the main objective.
Star Trek Resurgence was cool but I was a bit dissappointed to learn that ultimately your choices didnt have much difference in the end of the way things play out. It gives you options but they all follow the overall plot.
Seconded. However... Thankfully a kind soul put a chapter list in the comments. Sadly, none of this content is original so no point watching the video. 🤔
@@underleft It has a full scale galaxy, the flight model, planets have an actual day-night-cycle, realsitic orbital movements, the feeling when you fly your spaceship etc.
Still waiting for Elite Kerbal Space Engine X5 to drop. I am approaching my 50s and still hoping to see "that game" And no, that certain company can go and shove it where the sun don't shine.
Graphics are not everything are they, some of my favourite games are from the early to mid 2000's, Freelancer, Homeworld 1&2, still in love with games like Fallout 3. You can still have fun with space invaders and bat and ball if you let go.
@@Timmy51m The problem is not the graphics... I have never cared about them, if the designs are well made... the problem is the archaic gameplay, the poor mechanics, the designs created without love, they really are garbage games created by fans most of them. they. How is it possible that there are better games than these, created 15 years ago! ...I don't see any progress in this playground.
You don't know much about the technology or terminology, huh? The wallets are made from recycled PVB glass windshields. It's polyvinyl butyral, not polyurethane. PVB is not biodegradable, but is easily recycled and low toxicity, meaning it's definitely "environmentally friendly." Good thing you were here to tell everyone you don't know what you're talking about. It was really helpful.
ah so you're one of those disgusting creators that foregoes chapter markers so you can monitize your listicles as much as possible... NOTED! I'll just look for the timestamp guy and dip out
