The Maiden Flight for my Great Planes Trainer 60, following the build series that took you through the construction of a 65" wingspan Great Planes Trainer 60. A link to the build series is provided below!
This is an iconic trainer, which was designed by J. Bridi and revised by Don Anderson for the Great Planes Model Manufacturing Company in 1986.
I will be making a couple of small modifications along the way! The plane will be powered by an English made Merco 61 glow engine. The plans were downloaded from OuterZone website. A link to the plans is provided below.

Great video well worth the wait. That "ping" of the fence wire on take off. Heart in the mouth moment 😂

As I mentioned before, I've flown this plane many times. It's an great aerobatic trainer and has excellent low speed characteristics. You'll notice the pitch doesn't change with different throttle settings. Joe Bridi got it right. Well done, mate!

Joe Bridi got it right on a lot of his designs. His Kaos is one of my favorites.

complimenti un bel lavoro ed un ottimo volo , (e' come aver fatto l'intero percorso di un figlio che nasce, cresce si laurea all'universita') condensato in un tempo molto ristretto , se fossi stato li anche io ti avrei stretto la mano . Bravo, bravo.

Brilliant Mark. Well worth the time and effort you have put into this model. Should be a good test bed for your other motors. It's a 10 out of 10 from me.👍

I knew you would be happy with how this flies. I built one last winter and now have over 120 flights, but I made mine electric. 6S, 4000mAh battery, 8-10 minute flights (depending on throttle management.) Tried to match GP box art for colors (blue and yellow.)

I'm from iraq and I've been making Trainer 60 at the same steps and as you upload videos to updates. I made it with laser cut CNC and thunder tiger 61 engine. I finished it and tried it and it was very nice and successful thank you very much. If i could i would like to show it to you.

Excellent, really pleased you have build a Trainer 60 yourself and the it flies well, The TT61 should be a great engine for it. Thanks for letting me know and watching the videos

Just a little post script. I see you have a Meteor 61 lined up to fly in the Trainer. I used to have one coupled to a Super Tigre Q silencer. Sometimes I wish I'd never given it away now!

For older engines if no.8 would not work F type plug always does the trick specially when engine is mounted inverted.
@MarkRobinson555
@MarkRobinson555 23 дня назад
OS F plugs are quite a bit longer than other plugs, so great care is needed as it could strike the top of the piston and damage the engine. I have seen engines where this has happened, not something I would advise. Much better to source an idle bar plug if needed, made a huge difference for this engine.

Great job and looks a treat. What’s next? With all your 60 engines how about a Kwik Fli?

I would simply lengthen the nose wheel strut. Looks like your slightly negative angle of attack as she sits now. Congrats.
@jirvin4505
@jirvin4505 Год назад
Yes agree. Looks heavy on the nose during the takeoff. I was thinking the rear UC could be moved forward a bit to improve rotation
@agp7073
@agp7073 Год назад
I was thinking the same thing when Mark mentioned in the begining of the video that the plane did not rotating easily. It did apear to look nose down on the take-off roll. That will definitly take a lot of up elevator to get the model to beak free.
@MarkRobinson555
@MarkRobinson555 Год назад
Thanks for the comments, I found that I had made the nose leg slightly short, so I put a bigger wheel on the front and issue solves, made a big difference
@stevemerrill7430
@stevemerrill7430 Год назад
@@MarkRobinson555 Yep, larger nose wheel will do the same thing!

It looks fantastic! I loved seeing this come together and take to the sky. We’ll done 😊….Do you have any scope for an onboard camera so we can all go for a flight in it! 😆
@MarkRobinson555
@MarkRobinson555 Год назад
Thanks very much for the kind comment it's really appreciated. I do occasionally think about onboard cameras, but not sure how they would be with the vibration from an I/C engine, would certainly be good to do.
