I love Soundqubed subs. I had 3 HDS3 10s on a Crescendo BC5500 for a couple years and they loved that amp. Pulled well over 5k watts (clamped at comps) out of the amp wired to .67 ohms tuned to 32 Hz. I sold them and bought 2 HDC3 15s. I just blew one but they held up for over 2 years on 2 Soundqubed 2250s at .5 ohms. I will be rebuilding\converting them to HDX3s soon.
Another great video. Keep em coming love it I love how up close you get so we can really see those coil's. Keep up the good work. Can see you doing big things in the future.
Sweet, Soundqubed is owned by the Son of DD, based out of the same warehouse in Oklahoma, they did stress testing and had the same results on the strength, of stitching and gluing of the surround, so they ended the stitching, and so did DD....
Great review bro. Thank you soo much for reviewing this sub. I have had my eye on it for a while now. You help me make my decision between American bass hd or this one. Now bring on that Sundown U series. Lol!!!
Awesome video! It would be cool to see the xfls get a redo on the new amp! I recently picked up 2 xfl 15s and running them off a DD m4b and it's awesome!
Soundqubed FTW. I had an hdc12 was loud but didnt play very low. Now they playing the lows and they can handle the juice. I ran my hdc at 2200-2500 watts daily for 2 years before selling. I now run 1 HDS3 15 v2 and it slaps so hard my neighbors dread 6-6:30pm M-F.... Not sure of your box size but you may be able to get a slightly larger box for that beast and really slap them lows.
I have two 12in hdx3 ran by two Wolfram 2400.1 strapped for about a year now with no issues. I get questioned all the time on what I'm running. Loud, durable, affordable. I love them.
Love it and yes it dose 36mm xmax on way 72 xmech I got the 18 hdx3 and make lots of videos on this sub and in one video I do a free air 15hz view of the coil video and it moves! Love it Soundqubed for the budget win!!!!
@@ddtstrc9678 you win I don't know if Soundqubed is off on the Xmax but there site says 36mm one way but I do know one thing I used to own a American Bass XFL and my Soundqubed HDX3 moves way more and is way louder than a XFL. I know if Parker puts more power and retunes his box it surly will hit a 146db. Parker try the db test one more time tune it to 29hz and show how much power your giving the woofer next time. Try 4500 rms and see if that gets it to 146db.
Ya it’s the little things that make subs differ from one another even down to cone weight and material. Never know what your gonna bust out with next keep the videos funky-fresh!
Since you reversed the positive and negative at the box did you make sure to switch the phase 180 on the amp or the head unit? When using only one sub you wire it normal whether it's inverted or not. If you switch positive and negative you should change the sub setting on the headunit from norm to rev so the signal isn't fighting itself.
I had a lead on a HDX3 burn through right where it met the cone. Took me a while to figure out what my problem was. I was running 4 at a half ohm then one coil stopped working. Wasn't till I checked my impedance that I figured it out. I do have to mention that I was clipping the hell out of them when it burned through. I've been running SoundQubed subs for years and I love em. Never had an issue that wasn't my fault. They can definitely take more than rated power. Just don't clip em too much and if you overpower em just watch the heat.
The only time you need to reverse the polarity on a subwoofer is when you got subwoofers mounted normally and inverted in the same chamber and then you'd have to choose which sub you want to reverse polarity on so they're both push air into the box at the same time
I need u to come up with a grading scale and categories to grade for these subs. Excel sheets showing how u rank them. DB scores in one place. Would also show price. Kinda what Doug Demuro did with his rankin for cars but for subs.
I've found that the bigger basket usually means its a true 12 inch cone. I have a good feeling most of the subs you arr reviewing are not true 12's referring to cone size. It would be interested if we could get measurements in the reviews as well. Thanks Parker love the videos
Hey Parker, you do not need to reverse your polarity unless you are running 2 subs opposed of each other.... Otherwise it doesn’t need to be reversed. Swap them back and see how it sounds!
Those little holes around the big one is actually for the coil the pole venting is the bigger hole. You don't switch the polarity around on 1 sub you only do that when one is inverted and the other one is not.
Maybe drop in 1 or 2 pieces of scrap wood to make up for the extra air space. Maybe in the future for subs requiring less airspace it would be interesting to see how the #'s change by doing so, along with peak frequency😁👌
Can you use a car sub in the house ? Everything I build is 8ohms and 6,8,10, and 12 inch woofers. I never tried a subs at all. Subs are mostly 2 and 4 ohms
you should see if an enclosure company would want to sponsor your channel, and donate a few different enclosures, in trade for the advertisement.... really, thats all that lacks from your channel. different enclosure designs is half the battle in any audio project. anyways, you do a good job, man!!!! 👍👍
Yo can you check out the harmony audio ha-c12 I've seen it on Amazon and it looks good but I cant find a video on them anywhere it might be a budget gem.
You want the phase/time to align as close as u can with the rest of the system. Either way could work better... too many variables to say one is right every time
so having all your speakers in the car running in the same polarity will help to ensure no cancellations on the crossover of your woofers to your subs if you run with overlap. I also found that by changing the phase partially through an amp or dsp that supports it you can change the highest spl point around the cabin without changing box position. This is just from testing I've done in my car.
Song request you should try this song called no service by blake its a great sub song for the lows and mid bass should test out your system on all aspects keep up the nice content i woke up smoked a cig and your the first vid i watched on yt
I have two of these and they have a very low fs of 26hz they bang those super lows with 2 in a kerfed box it does t-shirt tricks with 1 window open partially
7:50 you only need to reverse the polarity if you are running one sun mounted normally and one inverted. You do not have to reverse the polarity just because you invert the sub
On all the amp manuals I have ever read it has said to reverse polarity if you have mounted inversely with another (what you said) or if it makes audio clearer and louder due to the distance it has to travel, it can be out of sync by the time it gets to the front of the cab where you're sitting. By the time it gets to the front it can be a reverse signal to the rest of your audio equipment meaning you're not hearing the full low frequency, and the part you're hearing is extremely cut off. Search up how basic active noise cancellation works if you want more proof and better explanation on it
Ever think of also setting the gain to the maximum RMS of each sub you test and stay within its mechanical limits too? Beyond its mechanical limits does demonstrate capability but staying within the limits I think helps in sound quality.
Most 1000 watt rms subs can receive 2000 watts rms (or waaaaay more) and still not reach it's mechanical limits... Sound quality doesn't get effected if you go over a rms rating...
@@RickEnsink Exactly. Heck my old Audiopulse Axis quad 1 ohm 12 inch sub is rated for 2500 watts if I remember correctly and the engineer that designed them told me that it will handle 5 or 6 thousand watts for a few minutes no problem..
@@DibeezyTheGifted it was just a day that it was 100plus outside. I thought it was my box burning up but it was the spider catching fire haha smelled the exact same as burning wood lol. But it was the first gen omega they ever made with the two square motors so it was almost 10 years old but still hurt real bad haha
Great videos as always, why not focus on the back hatch open, like you use too, I love seeing these soon to be bought subwoofers hittin!! That gives me ideas on what not to get, or to get ! Thanks as always, Blessings bub. Keeping 100, put 2min of straight sub, w hatch open?? Thanks again
With the amount of power I push to these subs having the back hatch open messes with the pressure pushing back on the subs and can damage it. It’s called unloading a sub.
@@ParkerTheBasshead nice thanks, learned something, when I do that I hit harder, but I messing up my sub really, tanks P! Teaching the master, grasshopper, I see now... thanks again for the tip too !
Yes, they do have 36mm of Xmax. The HDC line that they replaced also had 36mm of Xmax, but with a much higher Fs. You should give Fi Car Audio a try some day. In my opinion they are the best bang for your buck, with Soundqubed being my number two pick.
@@fd1596 Why? The Sundown SA-12 has 19mm one-way XMax. The SoundQubed HDX12 is around the same price point. The HDX12 having same Xmax as the SA-12 is much more likely than it having double!
I had thought about trying the hdx4 12 before got my American bass xmaxx out but went with b2 audio rampage 12 instead I had 7 other diff subs and it about best one I'm gettin a 2nd one when I can
I loved my HDC3 12 on an Orion 2500.1dz. I blew the sub due to user error and will be ordering a HDX basket and recone kit to convert it. Nothing wrong with the wire nuts especially when your go-to is electrical tape! I used the ones Soundqubed sent me with the sub and never had a problem. I also wouldn't use them anywhere else in car audio except connecting wires in a sub box.
Be good to start comparing to the more $300+ subs to see if SQ really gets better or not ....FI Audio, DD Audio, DC Audio, INCRIMINATOR, SSA, Crescendo .....Feeling the American Bass XFL is still up there for a $200 sub!
Awesome idea! I've been wanting to see the same.. But let me be the one to tell you, the FI Q (sq line) series subs are down right amazing! Punchy, clean, and gets low! I have a pair of 12's in a custom sealed enclosure, running off a sundown 2500! The cones are still stiff after 2+yrs! Subs rms 1500!! I'm considering upgrading to a amp with a little more rms to give these bad boys
Should try an addictive audio v4 or a crossfire, maybe some FI audio lol be nice if the stuff wasn't so expensive so you could have one of every decent brand and show people what to expect when they buy that specific woofer...
I second this those fi subs are something crazy as in xmax and power handling they are my favorite subs atm plan on running 2 18s in a 4th order wall here soon in my ram 2500
