Oh! You’re backstitching the seam, but from the front! Great idea for higher stress areas, especially. Thank you for the tutorial.😃

I have taken to knitting cardigans all in one, so no longer need to sew up seams, but I shall keep this one in mind for the next time I do. Thank you.

That's a great technique! It will be wonderful for seaming the sleeves of a pullover I'm working on now, especially at the cuff, which is both prone to snagging and ripping, and get overstretched when pushed up the forearm. This stitch will help prevent either issue. Thank you!!!

Will definitely use this technique on my current knitted summer pinafore project! I also love the no knot at the beginning. I didn't know that trick. It's simple but neat. I am also using your slip stitch on the sides method to make it neater to join up.

Wow, this makes matching up patterns much easier than with mattress stitch. Brilliant technique, thank you so much!

Thank you, Maryna! You always seem to have a tutorial for just what I have coming up. I'm going to try this seam on a hat that I started the other day. AND you always have incredibly clear instructions and great quality video. You're the best!

It looks very nice and a sturdy way to help me put together all the pieces of a pullover that I want to knit but very hesitant to join all of them. Thanks so much

Well yay! An alternative to mattress stitch and one this lefty can probably do (it looks like I could just reverse it and pick up 2 strands on the left and 1 on the right?). Great way to start 2024 off, thank you❤

Thank you, Esme :-) Yes, you can also make this seam when you pick up two strands from the piece on the left and one strand from the piece on the right. Happy knitting, my friend!

Just curious, how many skeins of chunky yellow and chunky blue do you have :D

Not that many, really :-) This yarn is discontinued so I try to reuse this year whenever I can. Reusing also solves the storage issue. Otherwise, I would have had gazillion of swatches by now. Thank you for asking :-)

Brilliant! I am currently assembling a cardigan, and was unhappy with the lack of elasticity in the seams done with Mattress Stitch. I'll undo the whole thing and start over with this method.

Sorry, Evelyn, it is not clear what your question is about. Please, rephrase. Thank you.

I just wonder why you pick up two horizontal bars on the right, and only one on the left?

That's how this seam is made. When we go two strands forward and one strand back we form a set of loops that make this seam strong and elastic. Happy seaming!
