Another Bunnings find, the DETA Grid Connect Dimmer 6032HA, you can fit 3 in a wall plate, it's trailing edge, and TUYA based and works with Home Assistant using Tuya Local.
Datapoints:
1 - Light - Boolean - (ON/OFF)
2 - Light - Brightness - (0 - 1000)
3 - Number - Minimum Brightness - (10-1000)
6 - Number - Count Down Timer - (0-86400) SECONDS

I don't even need these as I live in Europe, still watched it though, great content, thanks for mentioning Matter, definitely going to look out for that. Also, thanks for looking into the camera while talking, rather than the cameras display! That just ups the quality!

I started with the Bunnings WI-FI smart switches and after too many issues moved on to Zigbee. Zigbee is a much more reliable standard which will continue to work if the WIFI is down.

Thank you so much for this I wanted to know what protocol it runs (wifi) And furthermore, does it need a hub etc Your vid has answered everything - so it's tuya based and runs tuya local AND works with home assistant!! Everything I was looking for! Thank you!

Interesting watching your setup. Why did you add this as a switch rather than a light with all the options? I am new to this. I can see it is a switch but basically it is just a light for configuration. I am just experimenting now with a Deta downlight (DET902HA) and an Arlec Light (ALD092RHA). Having trouble getting the countdown timer to work on either. All the other functions work fine. As I said I I added the light as a light with all the options built in and then added the timer as an additional entity. Keep them coming.

Great video mate!! Does this fit in Clipsal Iconic range? If not I was planning on getting getting Shelly dimmer, should I get that bell rocker switch or what do you suggest for dimmer lights? Thanks heaps

Hi there. Living in Perth and wondering if could connect this type of dimmer to an Led downlight from Beacon Lighting - LEDlux infinity Maxi sku 170618 ... they show their dimmerLucci Power 150W LED Electrical Push Button Dimmer( quite expensive around 80 bucks) but no wifi whatsoever .... did not buy for that reason. they recommended another dimmers but with no connection such clipsal 31E2RUDM or Diginert led smart MEDM. just wondering is could give some inside if could use this DETA Grid Connect dimmer with this downlights i bought. Any comment would be appreciate or othiwise great to listen your views in different products cheers odama

Hay, iv seen that you have advantages air, my air. Can you run a home assistance dashboard on the included tablet. I’d be interested in seeing a video on the integration with home assistance.

That would be a great idea, the only problem is (and I like all things advantage air, except that tablet) but the tablet is the slowest most terrible tablet I have ever used. Advantage air does as you probably know have a integration that is included in the core of HA.

@@SparkyJames I have seen similar reports that the tablet is slow and unresponsive, but i find it hard to find any information or examples of people running there dashboards off it. My current ac controller is centrally located in my home and if I was to drop the 1500+ to upgrade to my air the tablet would be installed in that location. It would be incredible helpful if you could try and install full kiosk browser on the tablet and make a video about that. Also a video going over the home assistance integration. If that’s not something that I can do then I would look into other options to integrate my aircon with HA.

@@maysminecraft I have the HA mobile app installed on my ezone (advantage air) tablet. Works just fine, but not the fastest tablet in the world as previously mentioned.

Question please.. I have seen other dimmers that make a buzzing sound. How is this one?

Hi Leokiwi, I couldn’t hear anything till I put my ear right next to it, it sounded quite high pitched, I also put my ear up against the Shelly dimmer (it was behind the switch plate)it has a lower pitched buzz. I know some people are sensitive to sounds like that, but I would describe it as very faint.

Hey mate do you know how to get security cameras on the Tuya app to display on an android smart TV. I've tried sideloading a couple of Tuya apk's because Tuya does not have an a smart tv app but the apk's although from apkmirror did not function. I heard there is a way possibly using a 3rd party assistant like google but need a nest device. Would like to confirm that before spending the cash on a nest device

Looks like same size and design as the brilliant lighting one, they use the Tuya infrastructure also but are cheaper than $70! I'd rather buy from the wholesaler if anything went wrong, as I already own some broken arlec smart plugin outlets.

Your right I was going to try the brilliant one as well, it looks very similar, but it wasn't readily available from any place local to me including the wholesalers, but it is availble online for simlar prices and ebay a bit cheaper(thats a tough one to return if anything happens)

@@SparkyJamesWe need to implement SPDs on installs to protect peoples investments, I personally distrust the longevity of these IoT devices. We also suffer 1050Hz injection from the zellweger devices on the east coast which is no fun with led drivers that don't filter it. Looking forward to your own open design using a esp32, because you know that's what we all want ;)

@@SparkyJames I've had two Brilliant Smart Dimmers (rebranded Tuya) overheat and partially melt on me (limited use, under 4 months install on both) for roughly the same price. One failed ON with no way to turn off except the mains. The other failed off. I let Brilliant know, no response. Anyone else?? My sparky now hates my recommendations! I hope the Deta's are better made!

@@augareth hmm interesting I had 2 Brilliant lighting Jupiter dimmers and neither lasted 6 months, they just stopped working, they are a bit different to this one. But I’ll let you know how they go. This one has vents in the case which the brilliant mech style does not seem to have. The other thing this dimmer actually doesn’t have is MOV across the mosfets(that I could see), so a voltage spike could kill it.

I’ve been using the brilliant smart dimmer mech for more than a year. Looks exactly the same as the Deta one and cheaper. So far working great with tuya lan via homebridge. Control via Home app is very responsive.
