I need to stop playing on ironman with this game. Feels like no matter what I do some great power joins against me on a diplo play and wipes out all my gains. Idk why the game can't just tell you who is going to join like every other pdx game
@@SereglothIV true I'm just used to it since I always played eu4 and hoi4 ironman. You could still get screwed but you could recover it and it's less often
@@soquality9405 It's a lot better now, though there's a bit of RNG since countries can be swayed even with negative values (normally anything less than -40 means they're in sway range)
Waiting for the continuation. Every youtuber ends the when byzantium is formed. No, no, no! We DEMAND that you conquer all the eastern Roman provinces and make the Byzantine people the richest! (please)
Dude this is BY FAR the most entertaining Vic 3 channel out there. Your channel has helped me find a love for the game and i could binge these videos for days. Get this man to 10, no 100K!
I'd love to see you try out Rimworld! It's an open world make your own story type of game, with a very very very large modding community. Most RU-vidrs that make videos on the game make "challenge" videos, like "survive 100 days in a desert", etc.
there's a really high chance I try it out at some point. I plan to start mixing in videos of other games into my channel and that's likely one I'll play at some point.
The glory of Rome will always be remembered. It doesn’t matter if you’re Greek or Roman, Christian or Pagan. We all bleed the same. And we are all the successors of the old empire🦅
All I gotta say, I just recently did a Byzantium game. You had a MUCH better game than I did. My military was good and strong, my economy was really nice and got up to 20m GDP, and I even started colonizing Southern Africa. However, the Ottoman Empire made friends with literally everyone barring France then eventually becoming a subject to Britain. I was pulling my hair out trying to build the Byzantine Empire properly
Love what your doing man. All the big PDX games have their RU-vidrs, but you have a ton of potential to hit a great market. I'm a big EU4 man looking to get back into vicky3 and I love your content.
i challenge you to form byzantium as cyprus in vic 3. i did it once like a year ago, cyprus as a state reached 100 mill gdp and the nation as a whole was at 500 mill and i was number 2 in the world.
I really like your style, it's great energy, long format which I can chuck on and enjoy for a long time with no overediting or being some mind-boggling meta strategy. Certainly I think mixing in some other games (be they PDX or not) would fit your style just as well I think.
I love how attica was just consistently the only state doing ok (or anything) in this run at the beginning, you're basically cosplaying modern greece and athens.
Great vid other than that Russia during my first war with the ottomans asked me to join their power bloc and i obviously refused and it broke our defensive pact
Hey, i have idea for new vid, I played as a France and discovered that it is possible to form HRE playing it. At the start you can't but after conquering the rhine and belgium with french ambitions (im not sure how its named in english) you get event where on of the options is gainig 3 new dominant cultures. One of those cultures is walonian wich gives you an option to form HRE
isn't going for macedoania early a mistake? Since you can get a claim for it later. Go for either cyprys or albania. Albania can be a bread basket for the rest of the run.
How were you able to move your troops across your subjects to that landlocked state at 7:42? I really have trouble finding fronts on landlocked states.
Isnt switching taxes this often a bad move because it creates more radicals? If you just keep high taxes you only decrease the SoL once but this way you make it go back up and as soon as you have higher taxes you lower it again creating more radicals.
To be fair, I haven't really watched much V3 content on YT up to this point, but is the complete neglect of construction industries in the early-game a common strategy? I think you only went above the base 10 construction after the second Ottoman war, and those may have been from captured construction sectors. I had been playing under the assumption that construction and industrialization was the absolute top priority early on. Do you just import all of your government and military goods? Not sure how you manage to sustain that on such a low debt cap with both mercantilism and low taxes.
Honestly I'm not the person to ask about meta strategies. That would be more generalist's sphere. I honestly don't know what the meta is for that, in my head I didn't bother because the first 10 construction is free, and I could use that money instead to keep my pops happy/birthrate higher. I think it differs between playing large and small nations, because in my experience your population is a bigger stopping block then buildings are for small nations. idk if that's the meta way to do it, but it seems to work for me. If you try playing a single state nation and not expanding militarily the whole game you'll kinda see what I mean by this. But uh yeah, tbh no idea. when I play these I know I'm not playing to end game because it's just for a video, so as long as I get the video purpose done, I don't super care if it's the most efficient way possible.
I play Greece kinda often and being honest, at the start, you are lacking so much and are so small that is easier to go all in in military stuff like using the first months to build a navy and go around bulliying ppl weaker than you and taking their stuff, instead of building it lol, so using the free 10 construction sectors is enough imo, after the second war with the ottomans you have more states and population that is worth to start building up, another tip is to go for south africa asap, if they have some gold already discovered you will make a big bank out of nowhere, also using the Peru trick is nice as vassals in this patch pay a good bank to you and it cost like 6 infamy for all peru, land that you can use yourself later on, other than that, use Russia to attack china 1 or 2 times to take their money,, or use your own navy that you should be making big to attack Formosa and get easy money, this only work in the first 10 years probably
@@Pokeeko Do you have to worry about getting into a debt hole on mil goods early? I'm assuming you have to import everything, and importing usually sucks with the tariffs from mercantilism. Thinking about it, I guess I could suck up to AUS or RUS enough to get a trade agreement (or maybe even just join their bloc) and bypass tariffs that way. I might try that next time.
@@Jedibob5 if you join their bloc is annoying to get out and also you dont share market because they dont have market unification so you wont get anything, getting trade agreements is super easy and can be done in the first days, the main point is that any industrialization that you do in the start is insignificant and non relevant compared to direct conquest, just build boats at the start, go bully ppl and once you win vs the ottomans twice you can start industrializing you homelands, as tips that i can tell you, get an alliance with russia, is kinda simple and more with the lobbies you get at the start, use Russia in the first 10 years to get money and beijing if you want from china, go for south africa, and small nations like brunei, and if possible focus on getting nationalism early without going too ahead of time, so focus on society techs
@@Jedibob5 oh sorry i also didnt answer your question, you dont have to worry about money if you go for south africa gold, also gold from china, once china gold runs out you should be in a good position, you could even get war reps twice from china depending how long it takes to get your alliance with russia
every nation is a sleeping giant because you sleep most of the time while you wait for things to finish after having pressed one or two buttons once in a while and every nation is too easy which is also why you can fins videos like this too basically every nation in the game XD
Truthfully, I find the Byzantium formable in Vic3 kinda tacky. I'd much more prefer a 'Hellas' or Megali formable not tied to Roman Larp. Still a freak video though.
