😂whoever thinks Punk isnt political they aren't Punk. Just like when those who said Rage Against the Machine went "woke" 😂 what machine did they think the rage was against? 😂
I was 2nd row for their show last month and he looked the same as this from that close up. He kind of looks 40 and 20 at the same time if that makes any sense lol.
Punk bands do this all the time, but there is a difference between chanting against the prez at a local club and doing the same at fucking AMAs. This is what I love about Green Day.
It's a homage to MDC's "Born to Die" the original lyrics are "No War, No KKK, No Fascist U.S.A." Tho I've also seen war replaced with "cops" I guess it's a punk meme.
Green Day was and will always be that one band that always comes back to show these new artists who's on top. They have the longest playing record on the MTV Music Awards and they are always welcomed to perform on other award shows. I don't care how many people say "Rock music is shit" because they don't know what music really is. It takes a lot of skill and talent to put together all the beats, the rhythms, the chords, and vocals to a song. It takes a lot of talent to be able to write music that tells a story and that has the perfect tone and sound to that story. Billie, Mike and Tré do it the best. I hate hearing people say "Oh trap music has the best beat" yeah maybe for someone who presses keys on a computer, but take an actual drum, and actual rhythm guitar, a bass guitar and a background guitar and put it all together so well, and then it's true music.
Veleicema Johnson If you listen to their sound. It has changed throughout their lifespan. You're probably referring to the album American Idiot. What you probably don't realize is that it's a Rock Opera meaning that it follows the story of one main character the entire album. Which is why many of the songs on that album sound so similar, because they're meant to sound that way. Same goes for 21st Century Breakdown. But Revolution Radio is very different from 21st, which is very different from American Idiot, which is very different from Nimrod, which is very different from Dookie. Their sound changes over time. My dad knows the band personally, I grew up my entire life listening to their music. I have every single album and every single one is different. The only two that are extremely similar are American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown due to them being a prequel and sequel respectively.
I don't like crowds who aren't there to see green day, they're just not excited about it and i bet half of them are like "my ear drums are broken now because of that dumb band"
God bless Green Day for voicing their views. Their music is better than that rapper shit talking about drugs, making money, girls, and repetitive sounds. Even in 2016, they still put out great tracks. Real music is here!
Well that other "entire genre of music" has gone down a dark hole. The whole "racial slur, I've got more money than you, then fat rides" music deserves to be shit on..
You havent been with them long enough my friend. Theyve been around for 30 years and still make as good of music then when they started. No substance? You need to open your ears.
Just like Billie said it once, when you're playing at a ceremonie don't pay any attention to crowd because it's full of zombie that are just here for the awards but play with the camera haha
Look MTV AMA spectators! Actual _musicians_ who can play _instruments_ and write their _own_ songs _without_ help from 7 different songwriters! Not to mention that they actually mean something with their music! Who'd have known this existed?
So I have a theory that periodically Billy Joe is replaced with a subtly younger clone of himself in between tours, this way their band can pretty much play forever. Cloning methods for Tre and Mike will probably turn up shortly.
Crazy_Genius 101, exactly! I’m a 12 year old but Green Day knows what’s up! Their music is the greatest power in this world (WAAAY stronger than Trump!)! I mean, if anything, that’s what we need more of, not all that pop music that people just don’t even mean!
@@jerryao When the fuck did age have anything to do with making punk music? People like you that think there are strict rules and guidelines to being punk are what are starting to ruin it.
Its apparently a hidden property of the guy-liner he wore religiously from 2003-2014! They all look much like they did 20 years ago (Tre has put on a few llb's I think around the midriff) they all look great! You also wouldn't believe Jason White had throat cancer 2-3 years ago!! NO TRUMP NO KKK NO FASCIST USA BJ for Pres. 2020
If you dont know Greenday has shared political views since the beginning (American Idiot album). Honestly love Green day and their music and I love how they used their time in their performance to share their political views! I'm a proud fan
panterizate that doesn't change the fact that more republicans are racist than dems, also I never said I was a Hilary supporter. I voted for Gary Johnson
It is true Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK when he was a young man. He was never a grand wizard. Stated his membership was short lived and later denounced the KKK. I am not a big fan of Robert Byrd but you should at least check and get your facts straight.
NO TRUMP, NO KKK, NO FACIST USA! This is what I love the most about them. They are never afraid to voice their political views on national TV and they do not give a damn!
"NO TRUMP, NO KKK, NO FASCIST USA" is an improvisation of MDC's song Born to Die in which the original lyrics are "NO WAR, NO KKK, NO FASCIST USA". The chant isn't some profound lyrical masterpiece that Billy Joe pulled out of his ass. "NO WAR, NO KKK, NO FASCIST USA" are the first seven words of the song, that is 34 years old. Billy Joe changed one of the words. It's not all that impressive.
Dylan Martin i doubt you even know the meaning behind this song without looking it up. don't say they're uneducated when I'm sure you clearly haven't listened to their music and realized the meaning they put in their songs
I live in Australia and am not personally affected by the politics of America. But fuck I love Green Day, for being themselves, for expressing their true thoughts and feelings through their songs and performances. Keep staying real Green Day you are a refreshing breath of air in today's counterfeit society.
They've always been the sound of what America represents to me (im a 25 yo European guy), I've been raised listening to American Idiot, 21 guns and stuff..., for me this is the genuine american sound of this generation, of course Music in America is infinite but this group in particular is pure heart and soul. NO TRUMP, NO KKK, NO FASCIST USA!!!
I invite you to come to Europe, we are not tolerant at all, and yes this is still full of racist dickheads but we won't choose a racist, brainless and sexual predator as our president.
Their album is going to be FIRE!!! The next four years is going to be amazing for art, comedy, and music!!! I've replayed this song at least 100 times!!!
Whenever there's widespread outrage in a sector of the population for any reason, creative outlets become the most effective form of protest. This 4 years will indeed be great for all arts.
Lolz at the people saying, "I'm proud to say that I've never bought a Green Day album". Well, Whoop-Dee-Fucking Doo. Do you want a medal to make yourself feel better still? Green Day's the one performing at Award Shows and touring the world playing music, while you're sitting on your ass writing online comments.
imveryclueless In the 90s they were more personal about their drug addictions and feeling alienated. But since 9/11 and George W. Bush being elected, they focused on those issues with American Idiot which became their best selling album ever in 2004 and they've been pretty politically active since.
My heart just exploded cause I went to a protest in DC and we did the same "No Trump, No KKK No facist USA" chant and i'm so fucking stoked on life right now
I got to see them live. And sadly the tickets for the mosh pit were too expensive. So I was in the way back. But my eyes are still blessed from just looking at him.
i love that they're so unapologetic. They're real punk rockers. Gigi Hadid apoligizes for her Melania impersonation, and they just really stand behind their lyrics and don't back down. That how you do it
We clearly need a separate award show ONLY for this type of alternative/pop-punk/punk-rock bands. Not shows when their talent is compared to Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande or other singers like that. It's just not fair! Our bands don't deserve this. Pop artists in one place, good artists in one place. Who's with me?!
Green Panda how about no i dont want punk selling out like these water down punk band i think they should stay along side justin and Arianna and leave the rest of the punk community out of it
1:20 "oops, you didn't see me clapping my hands at Green Day for being such a fucking awesome band. You know, actually I wanna jump but the crowd is just shitty and I don't want to look like I'm having a great time so I just stop and you did not see me clapping. Peace"
Music is about speaking to people in some way, and punk is literally the MOST politically loaded genre, it has been since its creation. I love that they're embracing that aspect and being so unwaveringly punk instead of shying away... (PS good on the Hamilton cast for speaking up too)
yeah both punk and rap were actually *created* as inherently political genres - and then obviously people like Bob Dylan and people in other genres were writing (at the time) controversial lyrics. Idk why you would even listen to music if you can't handle people expressing opinions!
