All music written by Green Day. All rights owned by Green Day. No copyright infringement intended. This is a demo of the MXR Dookie Drive. All guitar you hear is me, playing to a backing track. This was recorded on 2 tracks, and this video is an unedited, real-time version of me recording the main guitar. There is no video of the recording of the backing guitar.
Gear: Fender '50s re-issue Strat, loaded with a Seymour Duncan "JB" (SH-4) humbucker, playing through the MXR Dookie Drive. Amplification is done with a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier head and cab.

Thanks man! I could have done better on the guitar parts but after a few takes I got sloppy and a tad lazy lol. Guitar tone still needed some improvements but it's really tough because every adjustment you make doesn't sound the same in real-time versus once you record. Makes it frustrating to dial it in closer :)

Yeah took me a while to get it dialed in, but sounds like Dookie on the recordings now :)

Dude that sounds like the record well done 🤟 how was the Mesa set? Was it clean with the pedal in front? Or dirty?

Thanks a bunch! I wish I had the patience to digitally EQ it better and tighten up the sound just a little more.... but it's definitely not terribly far off for not using all the fancy equipment that was used in the studio for his sound. I ran the pedal into the FX channel on the head, so it's completely bypassing any of the settings on the head.... it's just the straight pedal sound.

Lol yeah was hard to get the focus dialed in with my lens I was using. I wasn't sitting square with the camera, so though the body of the guitar is in decent focus, the neck surely isn't. Good thing I don't do this for a living haha

I ran thru the FX loop, so all amp settings were bypassed completely.

It's a 2000 or 2001 (I forget what year I bought it) Fender Stratocaster '50s re-issue. It's made in Mexico, not the U.S., but plays really nice.

@@BitterTongues84 the first chrous u play on the a string with an a5 then b5 rhen down a string to a e5. then the second its on the e string. and last he got one wrong chord

@@asthenasia734 not sure that's how it was actually recorded. He has played it that way live an overwhelming majority of the time, but if you listen closely to the original song it does not sound like a5, b5, e5. Especially not e5 on the D string... That gives a distinctly different sound the e power chord or e5 on the A string. He changes how he plays several songs when playing live, and I'm sure this is one of them in my opinion.

@@BitterTongues84 you can play the song with the same chords on different frets. It’s in every guitar hand book. Actually don’t google that.

@@prouncecat7119 haha I mean I hope everyone knows that, but doing the same chord on a non-wound string(s) doesn't give you the same sound. For example, an e5 power chord starting on second fret of the D string sounds distinctly different than doing it on the 7th fret of the A string.
