P.S. I am well aware that James Franco's version of the Goblin is actually referred to as "The New Goblin," but I like the ring to "Green Goblin vs Green Goblin" better than "New Goblin vs Green Goblin."

@WinningZyro His mask is literally just fabric. I doubt it offered him any protection at all. As for his healing factor yeah that could definitely explain why he shows no scars from it

@WinningZyro You severely overestimate how much protection a layer of cloth with provide. If it was made from special fibers that could withstand powerful forces you’d be right but Peter would have no way of acquiring that due to his low income status and it’s never mentioned so we can only assume it was made from a cheap and common fabric.

@WinningZyro It is a _thin_ layer of cloth. It won’t protect him from anything. You really believe something like that would offer any meaningful protection against a grenade that can vaporize people?

@WinningZyro The damage mitigated by Peter’s mask is negligible. It offers next to nothing in terms of protection so whether or not Peter had it on at the time doesn’t matter since the end effect would practically be the same. It’s not a piece of armor that shields Peter from harm, it’s just a piece of cloth meant to protect his identity. You may have a point about Peter’s healing factor playing a role in why he has no scar.

This was one of the most one sided battles i've seen. And good for me too since i think Franco's Goblin is just far cooler. He's in control of who he is, looks badass with that mask and goggles which also look practical, has a literal flying skateboard with cool green lighting on fans! How cool is that? That's my childhood dream right there! And just has so much physical prowess.

Is it just me, or did franco's harry also fix the goblin formula? He didn't go insane at all, and all the anger he had, he had before he even knew about the green goblins equipment. He even became a good guy while still having the effects of the goblin formula.

Likely. Although it seems that iy was at a cost since while Norman could Hit Spidey hard,Harry struggled a little in their face iff pre-Symbiote in SM3. (Although one could say that spidey just got a little more seasoned in crime fighting) So it’s a ‘lesser’ but ‘safer’ serum

Now that I have grown up, I have some new-found appreciation for James Franco's New Goblin. The guy's suit was awesome, he had great skill, and he could take a beating. I do wish he would've used the silver Goblin helmet shown at least once but now that I think about it, I think that's the Hobgoblin's helmet. Would've been awesome to see the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 4 or 5 if they ever happened.

Yeah, and the justification that Peter's spider sense didn't sense him doesn't really work because the spider sense works for detecting danger, but Harry wasn't attacking Peter in that scene, so why would Peter detect him crawling on the floor?

Im in love with Franco's Harry. He has the best character arc in the series, he took a goblin grenade to the face (and still looked hot) and he sacrificed himself for his friend. His death made me sob. Not to mention he's an absolute badass with a flying skateboard.

I think Franco would win because of advanced gadgets and manuverability with his board. In the first fight we see DeFoe unable to fly straight up where as Franco can do flips, spins and barrel rolls and still stay on his board.

Watch the first spider man movie and you see that Peter struggled a lot against old goblin .. to be honest in the first movie it seems like physical wise in terms of fighting goblin always was better

@@1287424 I have seen the first film and I agree Goblin gave Peter a physical toll but on the flip side look at what Harry did to Peter, he made MJ break up with him and started to date her. That hurt Peter more than anything else since all he did was basically for MJ. But I see your point Physical damage wise yes Defoe but technology and maybe intelligence wise I'd say Franco

Well, that's not actually a mirror set up fight. It's two different characters. (Norman and Harry Osbourne.) I'd like to see (or get an analyze) of a fight between them, but I don't think we will see it. I think Norman would win, their stats I think us about equal, but Norman is driven by insanity, Harry is driven by hatred and vengeance. But he loved his father, so his motivation would be directly impaired in the fight. But I don't think Norman had much love for his son even before he went insane.

Actually, in that case it would've been Amazing Spiderman 2's goblin that would've been the HobGoblin. Relying mostly on his gandets, while Green Goblin also has super strength and agility. Green Goblin is the son of Green Goblin, who appeared after Hobgoblin.

My money would be on James Franco’s Goblin for sure. That being said, wouldn’t James’ Goblin be considered The HobGoblin since in the Raimi universe there was already a Green Goblin? (I think Raimi’s Green Goblin would best Webb’s Goblin as well.) I know Franco’s is referred to “New Goblin” but aside from that I always figured he was The HobGoblin since there was already a Green Goblin and in other comics, etc; Harry became The HobGoblin anyway which is why he appeared as the “New Goblin” in Spider-Man 3. Marc Webb’s universe I get they didn’t have a Green Goblin so Dehaan’s would fit that bill in that universe.

Peter nearly killed him and he wasn't even trying and was caught by surprise. In their second fight Peter put Harry away with ease. It was almost sad how soundly Peter thrashed Harry in that second one.

Yeah but regular Peter could still stomp against Harry ,but he had the symbiote at that moment ,made it more than superior to harry hahah ,i feel ike the film having an extra hour could have helped the film ,most of the issues in SM3 are about whats NOT in it ,rather than what is in it ,which is pretty cool!

1st fight is just Peter outsmarting Harry, that's not a showcase of pure strength, just wits, just taking advantage of the terrain and Harry's inexperience, 2nd fight is the best metric as it's Spiderman enhanced with Symbiote power and is not holding back his punches going mano o mano against Harry.

Outsmarting is pretty important, and it showed that how, even though Harry took him by surprise, and even though Perter did not actually want to fight him, that Harry was still not a match for him. Id say franko goblin had closer to the 180 mph speed, yes peter gots the peter tingle but that only warns him of immediate or close to immediate danger to himself, in that scene, harry wasn't trying to harm peter physically but more so play head games with him, thats why his senses didnt go off

Aron Redfield Garfield stopped dozens of people from being electrocuted. Oh, and stopped a bus whilst webbing up plutotonium. Also, Holland nearly beat the crap out of Captain America, as well as stopping a boat (temporarily) from splitting in half, with cars and people in it! Also, the most iconic? I would say the train fight and Gwen's death are the most iconic. :-)
