Green Stuff Sculpting Studs And Rivets On Your Tabletop Minis 

If you have very small drill bits (~0.3mm) you can drill holes in advance to make the studs stick a bit better. Bonus points if you manage to keep a tiny gap between armor and stud for later easy of blacklining.

Just drill holes and use metal ball bearings

I guess, we could make a small pit/crater for the stud or rivet to sink a bit into. That would maybe helpt if it is difficult to get such a tiny size but it could also hide half the stud ball to make it look better... never done green stuff yet so just a spontaneous idea. The harm shouldn't be that big because we could always use greenstuff to hide a deepening in the surface.
