I admit it, I am outclassed with several decades of skill and superior tools. I just won't be able to catch up in this lifetime... but I enjoyed watching Dale work :)

Square mortising tool. Get them from Lee Valley or Fastcap.

I admire and appreciate the execution of craftsmanship... But by God, what an ugly looking table.

I don't think I'd go as far as to saying that. The table is in line with most of the Greene & Greene design language - specifically the Gamble House dining table - so "ugly" is entirely subjective. Good to see somebody adding to the conversation positively and constructively of course.
