When Greg is leading up to telling his brothers that he’s moving out of their bedroom, Mike is watching the back and forth between them and trying not to smile, because he knows damned well that the younger boys will be happy to have more space. Robert Reed was such a fine actor.
He really was ... If you re-watch, surprisingly, he's absolutely the heart of Season 1 and a big part of why the show works when the kids hadn't really found their footing yet as actors ...

This episode aired during the few months that babushka ‘do rags were the fashion accessory no teenage girl could do without. Brady girls had it goin’ on.
During the filming of the roller coaster sequence, Robert Reed insisted the coaster with the mounted camera go through once without the cast. (Production was just going to load 'em up and roll.) When the coaster came back, the camera was gone, having been knocked off at some point during the ride. It's very likely Bobby and/or Cindy, who were in front, would have been struck by the large, heavy apparatus ...
I laugh at the end of this episode Cindy claims she wouldnt get to move into the attic until near the year 2000! LOL! My way of seeing it is who cares Cindy? By the time she was eligible to move to the attic, all her siblings would have moved out. She'd have her bedroom to herself anyways
Hang on! Wasn't there a Brady Bunch episode where Greg turns his father's den into his own bedroom with far-out beaded curtains and lighting? Guess they liked the part where Greg wanted his own room so much that they used it again in this episode.
with a family that size they should have made the Den a bedroom for one of the older kids... plus used the attack. They could have divided the attack into two rooms it's big enough and had high enough walls. He's an architect... why couldn't he have had the walls upstairs finished and floors put in ages ago? He'd know plenty of builders... they could have built onto the house and expanded... plus Alice had her own room. Why couldn't she have lived elsewhere? or they could have built a "granny flat" for her. I mean literally none of it made sense.
I can just picture Mike and Carol waking up in the middle of the night hearing humping and moaning coming from the attic! Lol 😂 And Carol saying "Well Mike,Nice Going Better Start Thinking Of Some Names For Our Grandchild!" Lol 😂

How many "I want to move into the attic" episodes were there? If it's anything like my attic, the heat and lack ventilation would kill an elephant. It doesn't say much about Mike Brady, the master architect, where the kids think the best place to live in his house is the attic. Greg even prefers the attic to the den (which was another episode). Obviously, whoever got to live in the attic will still have to come down to use the bathroom (one bathroom for six kids, for that matter). What attic has a bathroom? Alice had the best deal of all. A live in horsekeeper, and from the best I can tell, had her own bathroom.
Some of my high school buddies had their rooms in attics. Yeah, it was hot in the summer and cold in the winter, but those are minor inconveniences for a teenager. The privacy up there more than made up for it, especially for us stoner types. 🤣Good times.
Mike the architect could well have turned the attic into 2 rooms so both Marcia and Greg could have a room of their own. I was wondering also about closets. Seems Mike would have to do some building up there to give them closets, and maybe add in a window or two, one for each side. And you're right about the bathrooms. Maybe he could even add at least a sink and toilet on each side. They could still shower in the combined boys and girls bathroom.
@@alondralabute2310 The architect could have drawn the plans up as easily as passing gas. Actually doing the construction isn't a given, though. Not saying one negates the other, but they don't always go hand-in-hand.
@@sponk2112 If he didn't want to (or couldn't since drawing up plans or blueprints and doing the actual work are two different things) he would've known who could, he would've known building contractors who he trusted to come in and do the work.
Why is it that Alice's bedroom was seldom shown? I think the only time that we saw it was in the broken ankle episode. I wonder if she had a private bathroom connected to it. Does anyone know where exactly in the house it was located? Was it near Mike and Carol's room?

In the eposide that Greg took over Mike's den, they said the ceiling was too low in the attic to use as a room. I guess the attic ceiling magically got higher afterwards!
It was not so much that Greg deserved the room because he was a year older. But, geez, the boys were literally sleeping on top of each other in that bleak and small bedroom with the cheap plywood. The three girls had a bedroom that was at least twice the size!
