Brad, you, David Lombardi and Greg Cosell are right on.. the criticism being leveled at Brock Purdy is ridiculous. I think he should still be MVP his efficiency is 2nd only to Prime Payton Manning in NFL history!
Agreed, but it is difficult to imagine the voters discounting what happened on Monday night. There are two games left for everyone so let's see how it plays out. Lamar may have a bad game and Purdy may ball out like he usually does. The MVP race seems to be a week by week thing.
He’s a 49ers QB that is suddenly becoming the second coming of Joe Cool. No other fan base wants to see a second helping of another real dynasty after the last one that has lasted for decades.
@@Hinata-vr-is-me I feel like they were right but boy does he fits the 49ers like a glove, and it's only going to get better once he's further broken-in.
Yes he does. Everyone has an opinion, but who watches the tape before offering theirs' ? Cosell watches the tape. Not many can say that. Another is Brian Baldinger.
Greg is right. Brock is playing incredibly well and his mistakes are basically lack of experience. As he continues to learn, he will keep getting better. Brock is a REALLY good QB.
The thing is, he is making so few mistakes that the media has to nit pick every throw. Yes he will learn to just throw the ball away or take a sack, but then, he will get criticized for just being a system QB, lol. The bottom line is people whiffed badly on this kid and in today's world, people HATE being wrong.
Whatever comes of his career, Brock Purdy has his priorities in order. No matter ( good, bad, ugly) he does, he has The Lord as number one. Way to go Brock!!!
Yeah, he did. He also got visibly angry, something that Joe Cool just didn’t do. But nobody remembers that. The last pass he threw that game ensured that those turnovers stood for nothing. Nobody remembers the turnovers. Everyone remembers Clark making The Catch.
@@stevenmeyer9674 1 of his ints hit the receiver right in his hands and he only fumbled once. Get your shit straight next time. But that's what made joe special. Even in a game he made mistakes he was clutch when he needed to be.
This was a great find Brad, and wow did Greg even go after KNBR a bit for being out in the sticks. Awesome to see an expert of the game hold people accountable.
Brock has been hitting these plays so long he was expected it without thinking. He looks right fires mid touchdown. But not this time these guys were too good. Huge wake-up call for Brock and I think it’s a good thing
He’s gonna have to be razor sharp if we see these guys again. And I promise you he’s gonna be upset. I dunno if we win but I like the edge he will have
He's spot on, and so is Kurt Warner and others. There are things that I see in Purdy that I haven't seen in others in some time - one of the biggest being that he's growing and evolving on nearly a weekly basis. Not that long ago, he wasn't so great at rolling left - he has improved. His arm has improved. We're seeing weaknesses drop off one-by-one and the exciting thing is he was ALREADY performing at a high level *with* those (perceived) weaknesses. As long as he stays healthy, it's going to be really fun to watch him over the next few years.
So many people were waiting for this to happen. It's kinda sad. Most people that watch football. Have never seen this before. It's pretty damn amazing to see it! For the last draft pick. He has more playoff games than a majority of vets
U people make my side hurt !!! It's KARMA. Same Way Yall Hate On Mr Lamar Jackson. LMAO !!@ PURDY WHO !!!!! NFL DOES TAKE NOTES ON PLAYERS AND PURDY HAS BEEN EXPOSED. FACTS OKKKKKKK. PEACE ✌
@@erineramsey2555yeah, take note on making fluke plays as the way to make Purdy throw picks. What a great way to beat the Niners 😂 Niners are most likely representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. Hopefully Lamar don’t choke again and they can run it back again.
@@erineramsey2555you see how you say ppl hate on Lamar same goes for Purdy goofy he been hated on since his first start and yet he got more playoffs wins than Lamar
@erineramsey2555 Bro the Niners gave up 5 turnovers and the Ravens still didn't even blow the Niners out. That shit says alot about this teams grit. We'll see how things shake out in the post season amigo
Greg Cosell doesn’t just watch tape, he literally is the tape. He has no agenda but sharing his unbiased perspective. He’s one guy you can really trust to be honest about the game alongside baldy. Nice to see the same people who talked him up on good games stay the course and give perspective
I wouldn’t read too much into wins and loses from cemented playoff teams from here on out.. Once it’s win or go home time that’s when the real football starts.. I’m not worried about Brock or anything else but being completely healthy for the playoffs
Like he said, he's played 20 games and did phenomenal but he is still young in the league and has a lot to learn. I think he will learn it and continue to be a great player.
Everything is gravy with Brock. He was the LAST pick of the draft. The fact that he’s starting & extremely productive is a miracle. He is an excellent QB with a great future. I’m not even a niner fan but admire this young man’s play & story. He’ll bounce back. He’s too good not to.
He makes a great point and his wisdom speaks volumes. I often get annoyed of analysts and some fans and how they go from one extreme to the other after one game. Setbacks happen and the ability to learn, grow and mature from them will set you apart.
I believe what happen to Purdy is play calling. That is Kyle responsibility, he’s not prepare for what Ravens defense going to do when he throws the ball, and the worst thing is niners Offensive line too. But this is a good thing that happen to the niners, they will learn from their mistakes, and they’ll improve as it goes up to the playoff.
Agree with Cosell 100%. They put every single snap Purdy takes under a microscope and it is infuriating. There are a number of reasons so many are working to attack and demean Purdy, and none of them are good or based on the football that he plays.
it an MVP award Or Is it an MEP ( most expensive player ) Award ? ?........ Take wage into the decision ! Purdy had a bad game, it happens. yes, the 3 INT's after the first were a bit more flukey? but they still happened. The biggest takeaway was The Ravens have a good defense, but the Niners largely beat themselves. They completely gifted them 2-3 scoring drives that the Ravens are a good team and took advantage of. credit to them but yea...i feel like they would be fine in a rematch.
I totally agree with this guy. I thought I was the only person who felt the same way. The media controls the narrative, and their narrative is love a QB when they’re good, kick em when they have a bad game. And the average football viewer who doesn’t really know the game, they go along with it. Greg is absolutely correct in my opinion. And I heard what Warner said and I love what he said too. I think it’s safe to say that if you were to look back at the great QBs over the last 25 to 30 years, you’ll see that all good QBs make bad throws. Some end up intercepted….and some completed. When they’re intercepted people say that the qb is no good. But if they’re completed then people praise them to no end. Purdy has done so well. He hasn’t had a game like this yet. It won’t be his last. Brady had seasons with 4 interception games, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning too. He had a game with 6 interceptions. It happens. There’s a reason we are all sitting on our couches or wherever as a viewer, fan, lover of the game, and the guys that are on TV are playing the game…..cause they’re good, great, phenomenal. That’s why they’re pros. Love football. Love the Niners. I believe in Purdy and this team. If you wana be a hater, and have nothing nice to say, say nothing….or join Paraons podcast I guess?
I’m glad this game happened after enough good performances to offset a tough day. If his third game looked like this we may have jumped ship. Now we get to watch him respond. I have faith he will learn what he can and keep working. We all know this game was possible but it came at a time he had shown what he’s capable of. I’m kinda relieved this finally happened and we all survived it. Let’s see how this young man responds.
The fact that you can have so many people waiting for him to fail, to say "see, I told you so!"...what is that actually saying? The guy's good! It's hard to wrap around because it's only his 2nd year!!!!😮
Brock and Niners had more passing yards, more Rushing yards and higher average yards per play. Brock and Niners will beat Ravens in SB. Niners had over 100 yards penalties and balls that could have hit Ravens first and bounced into Niners hands just like the pass i seen Flaco do 5 minuets ago.. against Jets. Annoucer Joe threw that perfect. Brock is a better passer than Lamar.

@@ti84satact12 IDK, I think Purdy might be changing the meaning of what a great quarterback is. These stats say something different. Lamar isn't even close based on this: Brock Purdy QBR - 71.7 - #1 in the league CMP% - 68.8 - #2 in the league PASS YARDS - 4,050 - # 2 in the league - only needs 228 more yards to break a franchise record over Jeff Garcia TOUCHDOWNS - 29 - #1 in the league - only needs 7 more TDs to break a franchise record over Joe Montana DEEP BALL PASSES - # 1 in the league ACCURACY - #1 in the league
JT essentially said the same thing in his QB school on Brock this week - he made some great plays and a couple bad decisions. In addition, he got unlucky with at least 2 of those interceptions. It made me realize Brock is a really good QB who is young and will learn.
There will always be Purdy haters who, no matter what he does, its not good enough. Greg is 100% spot on with this interview. Purdy came off the bench against Miami last season and killed the Dolphins. Then Bradys Bucs..and didnt lose til week 6 this season. Its funny how people blame Purdy, but forget the Ravens defense allowed the least points all season. Theyre 12-3 for a reason, but take away the turnovers, and the 49ers would have dominated that game easily.
Anyone watching every 9ers game know Purdy can ball, its not like we see a ton of rookies & 2nd season QBs crushing it & he has been, plus he makes big plays. The 9ers knew exactly what they were doing in rolling w/ Purdy...as a life long 9ers fan I think hes fantastic & easily better than Jimmy G & now most NFL QBs outside a very small handful
Again! It's not his fault. Kyle left him all alone in the backfied with 4 down OL. With Deebo, Kittle & Aiyuk ALL the way to his left side, basically on the freaking sidelines... he then motions #23 to the opposite sidelines, looks at the defenders with 4 DL PLUS 3 free standing defenseman poised ready to (KILL-HIM)... not just once! Basically, all the game, but the first quarter was disgusting play designing! And terrible play calling!🤨
The Raven's Def Back Coach Deanard Wilson was the Eagles Def back coach of the last 49ers Playoff game last season. The Ravens were aware of the 9ers pass routes, spots and windows with a Match up zone...
Greg Costello is one of the smartest football minds I’ve ever heard. He’s balanced and fair minded. Same in this instance. He provided good perspective. Some of these ESPN knuckleheads are all over the map. One week a guy is a superstar the next a bum. Or they are so biased that weeks of mediocre performance and they are still active no like a guy is all pro and HOF.
Most of that loss is in Kyle. The plays were all over the place. Shouldnhave slowed down and established the Run game with CMC, Deebow, Masin and even Juice.
The Ravens flatly out coached and prepared for that game. And as per usual, Kyle Shanahan can not adjust when things go wrong early. Shanahan got outschemed, badly.
You know what’s crazy is! The only reason they on purdy like that is because we have a team thts suppose to win the bowl! Not realizing this guys coming off elbow surgery on his throwing arm and just completed his first real season of football! He’s been excellent!!
"Purdy has a tendency To play a little hero ball" One week - The Previous week "Purdy is just a game manager who makes easy throws all the time" You know, KNBR, we have enough jerks trying to tear down Purdy from the Dying East Coast "media." We don't need our local radio stations to pile on...The entire offense had a bad game, The Ravens played well AND got lucky a couple times....Good day for them, bad for us. Move on! Purdy's a stud, and we'd be super hard-pressed to find better.
Greek hotel is the football guy. When it comes to technical knowledge and know. Ing and understanding every position on the field. That's why he's head of N f l films
It is Kyle who over used Brock by putting him in danger by letting him throw after the first downs and not using CMC enough . The. Best of the best QBs make mistakes when no protection for them the over hyped coach was outcoached by John Harbaugh and Kyle was making scared play calling . Why doesn’t anyone question the head coach z.. It is amazing , he gets free pass every time …. Kyle will blame everybody but himself………
Bottom line, Baltimore had 5 turnovers, and the 9ers were "this close" to making it 33-26. Ravens faced the best team, and if one less turnover, 9ers win or tie easily. 4 picks in one game when 3 are tips and not bad decisions, or just 4 in general are so irregular, especially upper echelon QBs in the NFL are concerned, so it's an unfair judgement game against BP.
In Chase Daniels analysis, he pointed out, with the first IT, that had Kittle’s route been to the end zone the safety would have had to honour that and Deebo would have had an easy touchdown. Sometimes, it’s a bad play call, not the QB. That said I think he led Deebo a bit too much. If unsure you need to throw closer to the body and maybe down a bit. But, to me, the bigger flaw in that play was Kittle’s route. Not dissing Kittle, it might have been the play call.
i think the kittle route needed to be deeper but i also think he threw deebo too late. the play before the deebo INT was thrown late too, i think it was to kittle as he slid down to catch it. brock held it the ball a bit longer than anticipating the throw like he always does.
“That’s it” what, because you say so? A former QB analysis it but you know better is that how it works? Watch it again. If Kittle had headed for the end zone instead of cutting his route short the safety would have had to react.
@@mikedown3219 yes, “if” he did that but he didn’t do that. So therefore, he shouldn’t have thrown the ball. We don’t know the play that was called but I know Kittle is a top tier TE. Brock said it was a bad read and the coach said it was a bad read. So I’m going with them and not Chase Daniels. Make sense?
Cosell knows exactly what he’s talking about he watches those games and players in slow motion and sees what they can and can’t do and when he talks about Purdy or any player or game plan you can take that to the bank but if you have been watching 9ner games you can see how good this kid is hold on he is only going to get even better
not worry about purdy, the kid had more yds than lamar, if he didnt have those 4 int, they would have won, ive seen the great peyton manning throw 6 int against the chargers back in 2007 and he ended his career as one of the greatest ever and won two super bowls, one bad game doesnt mean purdy sucks, purdy is still a great young qb.
I will listen to Cosell a million times over before I listen to all these talking heads in the morning sports talk shows! I'll listen to Cosell a hundred million times over before listening to anyone talking about Purdy in the comments section or social media! Cosell knows his Sh** WAY WAY more than you or I, or rest of the world for that matter.
There’s the body of work (about 1.5 seasons worth) and specific games. Big, big games like this past one, has Purdy on the losing end of a TEAM sport (P-Eagles last year & now the B-Ravens). San Fran 49s need to play all of their remaining games (conference & playoffs) with the same game knowledge, intensity & energy that Baltimore showed up with last Monday. If so with the talent they have … they’ll make to & win the Super Bowl. If not I’m rooting for Flacco & the Browns.
Problem is the kid plays the position so well we forget he's only 24 in his second season as a starter. Gonna be some growing pains with BP but I got full trust in him as my favorite team's QB
People been wanting Brock Purdy to fail every since he was pick last in the 2022 draft, so the media will continue to talk negative about him this no surprise.
Very good take. I think the first interception was on the play caller just as much as the qb. Kyle is smart but lack some common in game sense. Never needed to throw on first down. It was a running down. Bmore was play coverage. It was 1st down.
This is a good take by Cosell. Couldn't agree more with him. The only time the offense really struggled was a portion of that third quarter. Otherwise, they were gashing the Ravens. With just a bit more luck, they probably put up a 40-burger and also keep their own defense off the field. That said, I like the Ravens and I think they'll be a worthy opponent in the Superbowl.
The only thing American sports media loves more than a heroic underdog story, is tearing them down when they make a mistake. They've done it to the best in history, from Ali to Tom Brady.
@@cindyblount8621 I wonder if Kyle has multiple playbooks that he uses for every game, Jim Harbaugh had lots of playbooks from his Stanford days and NFL days he even had one that was only for exhibition games
Long story short…Brock Purdy is not elite, yet he’s playing at an elite level, he can and still has time to develop, let the dude develop. He’s going to make mistakes..let him get it out of his system, he’s a great enough athlete to hold himself accountable and correct. 49er faithful! LFG
People seem to forget this kid is 23. It's his first season as a starter. We are expecting him to get us to the SB. We gotta understand that most QBs are given a few years before that type of pressure is put on them. He's performing exceptionally well for a new QB. He has a lot to learn, but hopefully, he can pull off the ultimate season for us and can take us all the way...
He’s right the offense has it going but the int hurt them. Maybe if just one int the niners would of came out with a W. Purdy will learn from his mistakes. Anticipation and in Stride are how the niners play. Raven got to the the ball at the same time as the receiver so that’s why there were so many jump/tipped balls.
Us niners fans know, the kid is TWENTY FOUR. In his SECOND YEAR. Basically every QB ever who was aby good has had games like this. Just NOTHING going right, getting hit, getting picked. Brady had a million, peyton had them, Elway had them, heck, mahomes had one in the super bowl!!! It happens. We have seen this is NOT the norm
Costello made a great point! What if the tipped balls had landed on the ground ? What if Deebo had been able to make that catch ? Touchdown? In “the Catch” game, there were 6 turnovers by 49 ers/Montana…. Funny how we forget the greatness that occurred in a loss yet forget the potentially disastrous mistakes in win !! Beat Detroit 👊
Shanahan playing Chess while everyone else playing Checkers, regardless of how that game looked, if you watched the 49ers all year you’d know that pre-snap motion and misdirection plays a huge role for them…Deebo had very few motion plays, CMC had 14 carries 100 yards…and he leads the league in carries…I honestly think Shanny didn’t wanna show to much of the offense to the Ravens with a future game vs Ravens in mind.
that third INT is not a hero ball. it was like 10 yards down the field. in todays NFL, a throw across your body while running is almost a standard thing. if he would’ve flung it 30/40 yards into coverage than yea, but a quick 10 yarder to Kittle matching his stride is not a hero ball play.
As a 49er fan, I AM giving the Ravens credit. They kicked our ass! But, we will make the adjustments. Everyone keeps saying the 49ers' blueprint is now on tape. Well, the Ravens blueprint from that is on tape too and if they are lucky to get to the Superbowl, we will see them then. Enough said!
bottom line is Purdy is an elite mind when the ball is snapped. He knows where every single guy on his team is gonna be. When you face him up with an elite defense you can disrupt his processing. But, 2 of the ints like Greg said are just pretty flukey. I mean you see a tiny percentage of those plays ending up in the hands of the defense. I could be wrong but most of those plays end up on the ground. Batted balls are lucky. Not skill oriented.
It's not that they're hating and wanting rock party to fail they're hating on the franchise and wanting the franchise to fail because were the number one franchise in NFL history and when comes success comes hate
