She is an angel. I love the entire choir, as its all cooperation and harmony. But I especially love Josephine Stephenson. I can close my eyes and see an angel in heaven (even though I am atheist).
They are all perfect with their voices (S.A.T.B.), N.S., and Josephine (Soprano), is a special kind of perfect, i agree, beyond earthly dimensions. heightens the senses and emotions always brings tears to my eyes, with a special joy to the soul, so moving... such a beautiful unique talent.
Thank you for the magnificent execution of the Miserere. The Tenebrae Choir and Maestro Nigel Short made this timeless piece of art even more transcendent and harmonious...
@@blackstar8061 I have to agree. Jo isn't at her finest here, but you know...doing this constantly like they do is ROUGH. Consistency is key, and Jo is very consistent so I can forgive a moment or two of imperfection. Perfection is overrated anyway LOL.
@@cockle0979 unfortunately which made way for the "enlightenment" which became "separation of church and state" so that you can identify as 4 genders. 🤦
It is as if all of creation, especially the angels in Heaven were singing this poignantly dramatic hymn after the Death of the Christ+ that infamous Friday evening. And as the psalm progresses, I can see the dead Christ+being lowered from the bloody Cross and grievously mourned by His weeping Mother. Then wrapped in linen and anointed by the grieving Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. And when the final cadence hits, I could see the great stone being rolled into place to seal the sepulchre. This is the anthem of my soul, this timely Lent! 😭

it's not easy to sing before a big audience, especially in this acoustically demanding environment, where usually during most of the concerts you can hear everything - coughing, voices, noises etc. But did you notice how quiet and immersed this audience was? Incredible. P.S. I still prefer the guy who sang from above in the original Tenebrae video with this piece ))
Oh yeah! I liked his voice, though I found this fellow's voice quite interesting too! Something more mature in a way, right? The first man who "sang from above in the original" had an inherent youthfulness. What their part is saying I do not know; haven't translated it yet hehe
at 3:29 and at 3:36 we can see that the woman on the left rapidly looks to the woman (Josephine Stephenson) who peforms the Top C note, clearly showing us the pressure of the moment
incroyable version, la meilleure que j'ai pu voir! l’interprétation, la captation du son, et même la captation vidéo sont d'un très très haut niveau. Tout cela au service premier de la musique, magnifique.

@@Itapirkanmaa2 She´s also a composer of really astonishing modern music, very beautiful. Try "Lignecho". Btw, does anyone know who the alto in the small choir is?
It's good to see a live recording but there is some annoying background noise so I would recommend people also listen to this performance of Miserere on the Tenebrae Choir's own YT channel - it's stunning! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H3v9unphfi0.html
crusades were a mistake , we should have never use cross banners as they are opposed to our lord jesus example.. no matter how agressive muslims invasions were it was a sin and a blasfemy
Always the best - Tenebrae Choir have the most perfect voices for Miserere mie Deus., (S.A.T.B.), N.S., and J. (Soprano), is a special kind of perfect, gifted beyond earthly dimensions. heightens the senses and emotions, with special joy to the soul, so moving...
On this last day of year 2023, a year marked by so many dehumanising and violent activities, performances like this prove the inherent dignity and nobility of humankind. Bravo Tenebrae !
For you aspiring directors and cameramen, don't do what this guy did by focusing on the supporting singers during the High C rather than the woman singing it the first time Completely blew the power of that moment of the piece. If you are shooting live music, you better know the piece you're filming.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Hard to understand such transcendental music being kept exclusive. Mozart writting it from memory when told it was not available for distribution, then Hayden's popularisation of it from his score, are wonderful moments in the history of music!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A7SA1dP-nVM.htmlsi=-QsfX-UfIyBlvmsz This was performed in the Basilique Saint-Denis in Paris in June 2018. It was followed by a mind-blowing performance of Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles!
Thank you for redoing this most beautiful song! I have now seen three of your videos of this song and all three are the best I have heard! Magnificent, stunningly beautiful! Very skilled performers! I listen to your performance daily, thank you again
