Crafting a bed on your first day basically requires a nearby village or brick house Roguelike Dungeon entrance (those have a bed on the second floor, as well as a chest with some random loot), otherwise the amount of logs and wool you require to craft one is difficult to manage in so short a time with no tools to start with. Don't forget about cooking and eating a wide variety of food to gain more hearts! A Healing Axe will keep you going, but a varied diet will keep you *alive*. Especially in the Nether early on, when OP armor/weapons are scarce and options for quick healing even more so. And you have to visit the Nether to complete the Healing Axe quest for the Nether Gardens, might I add. Remember that GTNH is on version 1.7, so natural health regen is really slow. Laudanum's 10 seconds of Regen III is useful for backing off and getting back some health quickly, at the cost of being useless for those 10 seconds. Not something I would recommend relying on if you're taking on a Roguelike Dungeon, or in general for that matter. But it's something to use if you're desperate. ...Three. There was a bed *right there*. And carpets to craft more of them if you wanted. I'm just saying. The best early early game foods are the berry types that go into making Berry Medley (Rasp-, Blue-, Black-, Staw-, Cran- and Maloberry), Cantaloupes, and the foods that can be directly smelted into (very slightly) better food, namely Asparagus, Sweet Potato, Tea Leaf, Corn, Eggplant, Grapes and Rice (also Coconuts if you happen to have that fruit tree nearby). Anything you can juice is also good to plant, *especially* if you're near a snowy biome for snowballs. Though do beware Dire Wolves, if you are. Basic Stone Age lootbags, and to a lesser extent Steam Age lootbags, often give you food. There's no real point to saving them, so open them up and enjoy the free food. The What's That...? quest isn't necessary until you're ready to go to the Twilight Forest, so it can be ignored until then. It's worth it to study the different types of Special Mobs in this pack, as some of them have qualities that can make them go from "easy victory" to "certain death". Tough Spiders, in particular, are as their names suggest. Don't bother trying to engage with early game melee weapons, just run away. Something to keep in mind RE: Biome humidity is that outside of how much water a Railcraft Water Tank will produce it also determines whether a biome gets visible rainfall, and whether GT machines will catch fire and explode when left exposed to the rain. Yes, those are two separate things. IIRC Humidity of
Well you can craft a bed on your first day if you know what you need, but it’s quite hard. Definitely have to skip the quests for it. Silly there is a bunch of useless quests before the bed
If you've already started a world in 2.2 with this generation, will upgrading to a later patch fix it or do I have to start a brand new world? Infinite mountains makes it real hard to find villages and such..
@@owerpovered3330 Which made me stop watching him again. This boy needs to learn to ignore the few people in the comments that are there to complain. The vast majority are just watching and not complaining. I was enjoying his series, but he keeps throwing those tandrums all the time and it is quite annoying. I really liked his style when I discovered him, because it was unique, but he seems to be like the most immature of all the big modded youtubers unfortunately.
@@Sandstroem1981 I am sadly resigned to agree. I understand and sympathise with his pain about commenters and critics being overly harsh and yet I cannot help but feel upset at his reaction. Although I understand why he chose to decide as he did, I stopped watching too because it is rather unfair to those of us who thoroughly enjoyed his GTNH content. He should realise no matter what he does there will be critics, and the wise thing to do is to address them but not by stop filming and playing a much loved series.
@@Sandstroem1981 It does affect a person pretty harshly though. We aren't the people making the content, we don't know Lash' mental health status, if he's a sensitive person, whether he was receiving more than just hate comments. The GTNH fans disliked bombed his stoneblock videos, and very well could've been messaging him behind the scenes. It just takes a little more to be considerate (not you, I mean them haha). I get where you're coming from though.
I gotta say you have a talent! I cant imagine how you make these videos entartaining without making it overwhealming for the viewer, plus, you make it so we dont get bored watching it which some other youtubers dont pay attention to that.
This man said "I really want to rush a bed", next cut 2:30 he walks in and looks straight at a bed, leaves without it. Very excited for New New Horizons
Glad you're going into GTNH again! We'll understand if episodes aren't uploaded every day, don't burn yourself out. Super happy to see this pop up in my recommended.
To anyone wanting to play this pack after seeing this: Do realise, Threefold spent 74 ingame days. That is roughly 12 hours of gameplay, what you see here is condensed into 20 times as small a timeframe. You will be spending 10 hours before even being close to what Threefold did in this episode... do have fun though! But beware of the timesink!
NO WAY! I started watching your channel in Create: Above and Beyond, and this original series is what got me into Greg Tech. Your way of playing modpacks combined with your personality made you one of my favorite lets players no matter what modpack you play. But seeing you go back to gt:nh makes me happy, although I know how hard this pack is. Good luck on playing this pack again.
Glad to see you back in GTNH! For clay dust you can make one clay dust by grinding one hardened stained clay with the mortar. This saves you lots of durability on mortars instead of making clay into small piles and all. And since your base is littered with hardened clay, this is a no brainer. I'm hyped to see the next episode!
I don't think I can express how happy I am to see you play GTNH once again. I got to know you and your channel thru this series and it feels so nostalgic to see season 2. It feels like I binge-watched just yesterday...
@@Threefold. What makes it even better is that it's the first time any content creator responded to my comment! Lmao, You are doing awsome job Threefold, wishing all the best to ya!
How do you add FTB utilities, the one that lets you claim chunks, with out causing the game to give you an error when loading, i have that FTB library thing, everything I try just ends up with error usually when I start loading but one time it was almost finished loading when it crashed, I don't know if there's anything else I have to do to the files to get it to work.
I am gonna actually watch this series now. I wanted to get into GregTech (not NH) for a long time, since it looks like a ton of fun and super complex. I hope your abnormal amount of knowledge will make me understand the mod better!
If you want to try a GregTech focused pack that is perhaps less hardcore than NH, try Nomifactory, which is based on Omnifactory but updating several mods within the pack to provide a more stable experience. It does skip the steam age entirely, letting you go straight from hand tools to low voltage. You also have the option to build a skyblock base or not, while still being able to travel to the overworld and nether.
@@ShneekeyTheLost I have tried Nomifactory for a bit, but I am currently taking a break as I do not have too much time to grind resources for basic stuff. But it is very fun still!
@@dekeloni757 Grind..? Uh, I think you got it wrong. Nomi, just like Omni, is GregTech with none of the grind, while still retaining all of the fun. Idk where you found grinding. Unless you're like me, and decided to play Nomifactory GTCEu edition with modifications to make it harder.
i’m very very very excited to see you take another shot at this pack! I love everything about the progression system! Good luck, and I can’t wait to see your journey through this series!
GTNH! Excited to see you back, Three, and excited for this pack. I just hit UV and am crafting the T6 rocket since it's gated by the Mark II fusion reactor. I'm looking forward to this run. I selfishly wish your goal was a little bit further into the pack, but I think it's a great idea to have a clear goal for a pack like this. Good luck!
I should have addressed this in the video, but I set the goal fairly modest by NH standards. It doesn't mean we stop there but we will evaluate that once we get T7 Rocket. Lots of exciting stuff before then :)
I only ever play modded these days since I enjoy the quality of life compared to vanilla. Without knowing your background or preferences then for a starting pack I would suggest something more along the lines of a recent Enigmatica or Direwolf20.
Randomly finding your first season on youtube is how I found both your channel and GTNH two months ago. I'm now MV in my second world, thaumaturging all of it (working on making passive aluminium with thaumcraft right now)
I saw your old series in your playlists and was wondering where it went! But it's a pleasant surprise seeing a season 2! Cheers to bigger and brighter futures!
I said this back during your last playthrough of GTNH, but I felt like you cut too much out last time, and it made the amount of work for you in each episode all the worse. You can definitely keep more in, show the insane grind. Don't feel like you need to pack a ton of progression into each episode to be able to release it. We all know what an insane challenge this pack is, and no one wants you to burn out. Pace yourself and show how much goes into every step, its all great content imo.
Noted. It's a balance I've struggled with since I started making videos. I feel like I understand how to integrate more tasks into the video, so hopefully this time I can get the balance right. Thanks for the suggestions :)
im assuming those fences are salvaged from a village because holy shit crafting fences pre iron in this game is like actually insane people shit, its like 4 or 5 logs per fence post. i used cobblestone walls because damn
I think the place you start your base is indeed very important After all you're going to spend countless hours there In my AOF6 playthrough (not recommendable, heavier than most forge modpacks) I found this beautiful ''island'' that was separated by a Minecraft circular river (never seen one) with a width of approximately 15 blocks (insanely large river) and to put a cherry on top there as a village northeast on the island that connected the separated landmass to the main continent, the river would end in an ocean like a real Delta I'm currently in love with this island because it is big enough to host all my planned infrastructure and at the same time has only 9y levels of variation, which means instead of completely terraforming, I'll find suitable areas and terraform only one or two blocks to make plains among the level variations, and add a walking path to the entire island connecting each of those terraformed areas with buildings (some more horizontal, some overly vertical) containing sections or fulfilling purposes Im deeply inspired
I'm so excited for this series! I just started binging the first GTNH series 2 days ago and am 14 episodes in, I can't wait to see what this series has in store!
Just got this in my recommended a year later, damn grateful I did I absolutely adore your energy dude, your editing is top tier can't wait to catch up to the more recent videos! :]
Good luck, Three. You're going to need it. I can't imagine trying GTNH _again_, but I guess the lessons learned in S1 and in Nomifactory will hopefully lead to faster progress.
Glad you started this pack one more. Your video on enjoying modpacks inspired me to give gtnh another try and im now in hv age and loving every min of it.
Been going through the old series wondering if you were going to came back to this. Happy to see this coming back around for a second try. Hopfully no game breaking bugs this time!
GREAT CONTENT!! Also I disabled pollution mid mv. Life changer! I personally don't consider it like cheating or a boost, but of the already supreme grind of this pack, one less thing to worry about.
YEAH Were back BABY Edit: Hey Three i normally dont make this kind of requests but can u spend some nice words to Lash some bad People are harassing him again for not releaseing Episodes (ore the ones they dont like) fast enough. I think hes a nice Person and we should spend some more nice Dialogues to Darkness himself. Ahh and before i forget his Mesmerizing eyes. Sorry for the bad English btw.
Just wanted to say that I've just began your previous GT:NH serie a week ago while waiting for your next upload, and I'm only 20 episodes in... I can't handle that much gregtech content at the same time, help
Nooo, noooo... ugh. I wasn't a fan of the last series and was really looking forward to the next... but just my luck, you pick one of the packs I genuinely dislike the most. Not mad at you or anything like that, just super disappointed. Thankfully Lash just started one so, I can still get my modded fix for now. Still love your work n will be looking forward to the NEXT series.
"its been nearly a year since the first GTNH series" Excuse me what? Where did time go? Why do I feel really old now? Also one mod that I always add is a veinminer mod. I disable it on Ore's due to the ore veins that GTNH has but I turn it on for the likes of Wood, Clay, Gravel, Sand all the misc stuff to just save some time. Tree's are nice because of the fast leaf decay as well so it makes clearing areas early game easier and this gets invalidated when Tinkers is setup with the Hammer, Excavator and Lumber Axe
There is a cheaty way to detect what kind of ore chunk you are in: Game says the type of vein when if you mine ore of correct type. This is evident. However what is easy to miss is you don't need to DIG ore for that. You can PLACE it yourself first. So for example if you place coal ore on the ground and dig it and game reports 'you've found coal ore', you know you are at coal ore. If you place coal ore on the ground, mine it and game reports nothing - you didn't find coal ore, it may be iron ore or other ore. It's like diving rod mod. Only instead of rod you use a pick. (I actually hoped game doesn't generate the ores from get go and I hoped if I put iron, I can force game to generate the iron vein, alas)
