@@kimbasillacuanan5112 you should watch her "pieces" speech to Owen. It reflects on her Relationship with Burke and how he transformed her into into something that she wasn't. It's one of the best moments in the show.
I think you're right and I love that her Happy ending had nothing to do with love but her very essence. She's not a wife, not a mother but she's an extraordinary mind and excellent surgeon.
Yes. It's so inspiring. The best thing that Sandra did, was leave when she did. Otherwise Cristina would be destroyed by the current showrunner. Plus Sandra got a pretty great career for herself
Yeah. Like when they do come back to the show, we'll be given a nice surprise with the two of them back together and their story carry on from there. Obviously, just a wishful thinking. Lol
+Yanna Sison I've said it before on some of these clips that burke and yang should've gotten a spinoff from season ten and that season ten should've ended with her coming back to say goodbye and everyone walks with her to the doors of Seattle Grace and gets the surprise to see Preston burke waiting outside and the episode goes off with them walking away holding hands
To me this is the most unbelievable way for Burke say that he will forever love Christina. To trust her with the love that they both share in medicine.
I think he learned that their relationship was all consuming and would've distroyed each other in the end. But he learned to love someone new in a good and healthy way.
@@officiallyjess5291 No. He's not saying sorry, he is stating a fact: Christina is the best option to the hospital after himself. He is handling Christina's true love: her career. Christina knows that.
The way he said that he couldn't work with her because it would destroy his marriage is because he knows what they had/have is something that he wouldn't be able to ignore
i think it would be bc of the fact that they have a past. and with his wife, she could be worried and it could cause problems. i don’t think it’s bc there is something bc it’s been years and burke is married to someone who he has children with and is in love with. and he was moving away anyway. nothing happened between them. shonda just gave them closure bc it left off with him leaving her with no word. it’s not meant to be anything more.
Faith Watkins i think he did though. cristina was only in love with the doctor part of him and deep down burke knew that and ofc she loved the outside of being a doctor part but she was in love with dr.burke. but you’re right in a way when it comes to going down that road
Do you remember Cristina when she leared Burke had an award and started to sing while she was cutting dead people's bodies and meredith came in? She was singing Like a Virgin by Madonna. And that's the song played as a background. I'm in tears.
The word "consuming" was used so perfectly here. I'm rewatching the old seasons and God he thought she was the world. They are my favourite couple. Brilliant actors and wonderful, believable chemistry.
To me they should have put back together she's a lot more matured and they are both better people now this episode could have been wrote a hell of a lot better and her and Burke should have ended the season
I dont know... that would have been a really sloppy ending for her. Throughout the seasons she was the best surgeon on the whole show and as such she needed an ending that's all about her, and not be overshadowed by the ghost of a past relationship, or a sad death for that matter.
krusty krab she was one of the best but burke was number one for those three seasons and I don't think it would've been sloppy because burke was the love of her life shonda even said that and it would've been nice if she ended that run by giving burke and yang a spinoff like she did with Addison and burke and yang was a hell of a lot popular than the others
Burke walked out on her finally realising marriage would make her unhappy. It was horrible but necessary. Whereas Owen punished her for not wanting a baby...he cheated. At least Burke made her dreams come true
@@Grace-ym5yk for that reason burke is an outstanding guy, alwasy was, ngl forst ep i thought he was gonna be typical dick but he was noble guy, i wish the actor playing him was not a dick in real life
idk. Burke was pretty manipulative if you ask me. He always pushed Cristina in order to get what HE wanted: relationship, living together, marriage. All of THESE, he gave Cristina an ultimatum basically saying that if you do not want, let's just break-up. He knew that Cristina loved him and that Cristina needed him because he was her mentor.
These two were on a whole different level as far as acting and intensity. I loved them together and I cannot imagine a better ending for the relationship they had
“I wanted to be you” - Can not tell you enough how much that hit me. I had a therapist tell me once that I wasn’t in love with my ex, there was just something I seen in him that I wanted to see in myself.
wow that sounds powerful. What does it mean tho? Like you saw a certain trait in him you wanted for yourself? Like what, work ethic, positivity? I guess Im trying to wrap my head around it and make sense of it in case I relate
OHMYGOD. I just got the "Like a Virgin" connection. Right after Burke left, Cristina sang that song repeatedly as she was doing work in the Morgue. Anyone recall that?! Shonda is friggin' brilliant. Makes this scene so much more powerful.
Cristina sang "Like a virgin" in the morgue, when Burke got a Harper-Avery and did not mention her name although she helped him with his work. When she sang it Lexie came in to sing along, Lexie was not around when Burke walked out on Cristina. But the reference is awesome, I love it too! Cristina finally got what she deserved!!! :)
As much as I like her with Burke, that is so true. Whether she's aware of it or not, when she is in love with someone, she will give them pieces of herself, which is never healthy.
+liyah Fletcher you know something she was better with burke and the majority of fans of the show would say the same thing that guy was boring he almost killed her and he two timed her with that other doctor when burke committed himself to cristina he never looked at or tried to get with any other woman that's why burke was better
I think her and Owen was better because their love is the one that makes you can't breathe but I do agree it needed to end they both needed something the other couldn't have as for Burke he was to selfish
Omg I think this is one of my favorite scenes from Grey's Anatomy. When Burke says, "You hold the carrot and I'll be chasing you," I started to cry. This is my favorite Cristina and Burke scene, by far, just because he said that, and that may be weird to some of you who ship Cristina and Owen but I am Cristina and Burke all the way just because of this scene.
I love how her eyes and face becomes soft when she hears him say that loving her was consuming. Just for those moments when he was saying that he couldn't have her work for him because he would be throwing his life away. Their chemistry was so beautiful and I MISS it.
This was the scene that made me feel justified in shipping Burke and Christina for all these years. He gave her the chance to be everything she ever wanted. Nothing else in the world could have shown how deeply he loved her. He got his dream, she got hers, they got their closure, and we got ours. And as usual, Isaiah and Sandra just nailed it. Perfect.
Remember Christina lost a fetus, a fallopian tube and a ovary because of Burke. Him giving her his super heart hospital is him saying I love you and more.
@@AnnaBellaChannel how was this because of Burke? He didn't even knew she was pregnant. She hid that from him and was going to abort the baby. Yet, he still would have forgiven her. Yes, he made it known that he would want a traditional wife and let her go because he knew she wouldn't fit that role. Owne on the other hand repeatedly punished her for the same reason.
Not Owen, Not Burke could have fulfilled her happiness to the full extent. She was her own. She wasn't with someone else to be with her. She was better off by herself.
You have to give Burke some credit here, not because he was giving Cristina his hospital, but because he was willing to admit that he would fall in love with her again should they have worked together again.
"The way I loved you was consuming" I can't handle this, they are perfect together, I mean really, in their relationship there were never other people, just meant to be I know it's all like Cristina doesn't need a guy but they should have ended together
I don't think its about whether or not they work because if you compare him and owen....Burke was perfect for her because he got her when it came to her job and her passion, which is so much of who she is. he sucked at the love part, despite the fact that he loved her. Owen was really good at the love part, he just lacked the capacity to understand how much her work meant to her. Both men, because of their flaws ended up turning her into the person they wanted her to be. Men aside, what I loved about christina is that after all that shes been through, she never stopped being brilliant and true to herself. she's incredible.
Their acting is off the charts and this scene is phenomenal. I love how they tied off Cristina’s character. But I don’t see them together. He wanted a family and she didn’t. One of them would have had to give up a HUGE part of who they are to be together, and in the end, I think it would have led them to hate one another.
Burke's expression when he said "the way I loved you was consuming" I just can't. There are love and anger. Love because he got the opportunity to finally meet Cristina once again and anger maybe because after he got married he still loves her.
Burke cared so much for Yang. But he knew that she loved her career more then anything else in the world. I also felt in this scene Burke loves his life. But he’s still in love with with yang.
This was beautiful. He once took pieces of her and finally, in the end, he gave them back to her. Her dream was always to become him, and he finally stepped aside to let her do that vs the first time around.
I love how this show emphasised something that’s realistic unlike most shows. *Just because two people love each other doesn’t mean that they’re meant to be together*
Absolutely brilliant song choice! Brings it back full circle to when she was singing it in the morgue. And by the way, the show may be centered around Meredith but it simply DOES NOT work without Cristina. I reallyyy tried with season 11 but her absence is far too much. Grey's needs to learn how to gracefully bow out because it's not the same anymore.
Yup and Yup. You can’t lose some Core/original characters and remain the same. Just re-watched the first 2 episodes. Christina and Meredith are quite the brilliant duo.
Hands down the most wonderful greys anatomy scenes of all time, because everything came full circle for Christina. This was the ending she deserved. And there was simply no other or better redemption for Burke than this one. He watched her for years, waited and offered her, her dream because it was the only way he knew how to apologize and make up for walking away from her all these years ago. Wonderfully done 😍
I don’t think he did it to apologize for walking away, though. He was waiting for her to blossom into her full potential because he knew she was the only one who was fit for becoming his successor. Neither of them should apologize to each other because the two of them in a relationship together was fire and ice. They both ruined the relationship by pushing each other past their limits and helping each other fall rather than helping them get up.
This was such a great scene... It was so great to have seen Burke's character one more time and see him and Christina get closure, and for him to have been the person to open up new doors for her, was a good way to heal old wounds between them. To hear Preston say that Christina will always have power over him but still choose to protect his family and give Christina the job she deserves, wow! Loved this scene very much.
Sandra Oh is simply one of the best (if not THE best) actors I have ever seen - I can't think of any she would come second to. From the first time I saw her as Rita Wu in Arli$$, I believed she was something special. One day some lucky Hollywood director is going to give her a movie truly worthy of her talent...
This show will just never be the same to me without her. I've strongly believed that Grey's was a love story between 2 friends. Meredith and Cristina -- everyone thinks it was Mer and Derek. But no, it's about two women finding their "person". That's why this show will never be the same. Never.
Yes there tying a lot of Meredith and her mother together! They're trying to show Merediths ascension and all the women who inspired her to the top! It has to show Meredith doing it ON HER OWN to make that final step to becoming the "sun!"
Cherlyn Van Der Weele Absolutely agree - Meredith and McDreamy have good chemistry (no-where near as intense as Cristina and Preston) - but the heart of the show was the relationship between Meredith and Cristina. I don't doubt Shonda's writing ability... But I'm really going to miss Dr Yang :(
I come back to this scene once in a while. I also go back to the scene where he said his vows for her in the OR. Preston Burke's words about his love for Cristina Yang were spectacular. These are two Grey's scenes I will never tire of watching.
All of their scenes are worth watching over and over again, it gives you a different high, makes you fall in love to the characters, burke and yang inspire me a lot
Fuck dude! That silence after "NO" meant so much. It was a reflection of the strong and independent woman Christina had become. It was filled with the power she held
I always see people bashing Burke and honestly.. he let her go. He knew she loved him enough to marry him even if that’s not what she wanted. I mean it’s Cristina, she’s not the housewife type and that’s what he wanted. He let her go and she became phenomenal. Yes the wedding was sad but i think he loved her more than she loved him and it just wasn’t the right time. She was still an intern and he was basically at the peak of his career. I liked them together more than her and Owen because it made her stronger
I just finished GA and I watch my comment and I laugh soooo hard😂What was I thinking?😂Owen is the love of her life!Crowen is my OTP for life! They are goals😍
TheCjma88 of course you can love multiple people powerfully and deeply but you'll always have that ONE , Burke was definetly ONE , he was her first love and hell always hold that space in Christina's heart .
How? She never wanted to even marry Burke. She was so happy when he left and she actually married Owen and even went through the scenarios in her head about giving him a family because she really wanted to be with him. She never and would never have done that for Burke.
You can actually feel he doesn't want to give up on the place and it's heartbreaking to him but yet he's doing it - that's the biggest change in Burke I've seen. He would never do that when he was still with Christine. They both changed a lot it's amazing
This here probably is one of the best scenes written and acted in the history of tv shows. I can write 20 pages essays about this scene I cannot get enough of it
Hands down, this is the best send-off of a character on grey’s anatomy. It was full circle and it made sense for Cristina 👏🏽 if only the other characters had that..
these 2 characters were brilliant TOGETHER..THEY BOTH GOT GAMES..BUT TOGETHER THEY ARE UNTOUCHABLE. owen has nothing on burke..i am hoping when the show is ending, they bring back burke and Christina...and they are TOGETHER, LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAID, "YOU AND I WORKING TOGETHER WOULD DESTROY MY MARRIAGE". HE STILL LOVE HER A TON. OTHERWISWE, WHY WOULD HE GIVES HIS HEART TO HER..MEANING THE HOSPITAL.THE LIFE HE WANTED WAS A FAMILY WITH CHRISTINA, BUT SHE HAD DOUBTS. I AND A LOT OF PEOPLE DONT WATCH GRAYS BECAUSE OF THAT. THEY DESERVE BETTER...
Yes, I stopped watching the show after his exit. I couldn't believe Burke would be the one to give up that easily. I always felt , with him Christina wouldn't have to sacrifice her career. Burke knew how passionate she was about surgery. He did have different expectations but he was also fine when he learnt she was going to abort his child, so I really didn't understand the breakup. May be I do, he wasn't going to return for next season so it was convinient but then it would have been better to just kill his character. I felt they would have managed to keep their relationship together.
everyone acts like Christina was some innocent victim in their relationship & Burke just controlled & used her and IMO that's just BS. If I remember correcctly it was CHRISTINA who convinced Burke to lie about his hand all because she wanted to keep doing those major surgeries with him & further her own career. I'm not saying Burke didn't do some things that were'nt cool, but Christina is JUST as much to blame for what went down in their relationship, if not MORE. He was way more into her & willing to compromise than she was.
Thank you very much, finally someone says what I was thinking the entire time. I love Christina A LOT but she Isn't perfect so hearing everyone victimise her ( which is very insulting to her character seeing as strong as she is) and make both Owen and Burke to be monsters its just weird. I think she has great loves with both men and interacted differently with both and it grew her character further. I was a complete Owen & Christina fan until i rewatched Grey's and I can't help but ship Burke and Christina as well. They were really cute and he was truly the first man to get through Christina's defences. the scene where he soothes her insane crying where no less not even Mer could still gives me goosebumps. Long runt short, no one is perfect and no one is a victim, their relationship where valuable experiences and it will forever be in out hearts.
Did anyone else notice that they background song they played at the end of this scene was the one Christina was singing when she found out he won the Harper avery and didn't mention her?
I'm glad Burke came back to give us closure of the Christina Preston relationship. When he left it was so unfinished. I love that he offered her his hospital because really Christina was beyond Grey Sloan. After everything that happened there with her she deserved to move on to greener pastures. Everybody that you start off with won't finish with you.
This scene made me cry. He loved her so much, I love how he respected her and her craft so highly that he didn't think twice about handing over everything he had built. I wish they could have been together..
This was a miracle for Christina. The job was just the cherry. The true gift was showing her that you can become legendary, do great things, and then walk away if needed. He was also her mentor. He passed the torch. its an honor
I know Burke was not a perfect guy for her, but he loved her a lot and now I am totally sure it’s true after watching this episode. He knows if they work together, he would fall in love with her again and throw away his ‘perfect’ life. I’m crying and I believe they will be together someday. truly.
The "like a virgin" song on the background. Ugh the feels. She sang this when she was stressed and needed to be reminded of her true love--surgery. Just so beautiful ❤️ Shows that her greatest love is not Owen nor Burke--it's her being a cardiothoracic surgeon ❤️
Compared to Karev’s shitty ending I’m actually glad they gave this to Christina. She loved her work more than anything and was able to receive what she rightfully deserved. I was so sad she left when I first watched, but now that I’ve seen the new writer’s inability to give characters their rightful endings, I’m glad she left when she did. If only Karev’s got a similar ending. 🥺
Burke and Cristina needed so much closure I remember when Cristina left to go Switzerland and her and Owen had a great goodbye but wow her and Burke had so much closure And I’m so glad this scene happened
Is it just me? I can still feel the chemistry between these two....they were always one of my favorite couples of all time on Grey's ..... Isaiah Washington and Sandra Oh completely nailed these roles as Christina and Burke 💕
Ok I've just started watching this show and wanted to stop in the middle of season 3 because I wanted Burke and Cristina to be forever together but now watching this scene I can see they never stopped loving each other. I'll finish season 3 and watch this episode and then I'm done with this show.
This...over and over again. I checked out of this show after Burke left and just caught this episode yesterday. This is my full circle moment for Grey's.
In a way, Burke was handing out his heart (the hospital) to her. And it's no coincidence that this symbolic heart is also a Cardiothoracic specialist hospital
2:37 I just realised that “Like A Virgin” was playing in the background And Cristina was singing it while retrieving cadaver hearts after Burke left her at the alter
Best couple ever in any series ever I shipped them from the beginning and cried for days when Preston walkef out and the chemistry the acting unparalleled
I feel like that was "no" she bottled up for a long time when it came to him. Like not only was she saying "no" to the question he asked but also to the past. She changed so much about herself for him that it took years to find her way back from that. So that "no" was more than saying "I'm not done"
Are you done?! NO!!!.... now I am. That was built up and the closure i needed from end of season 3. in that pause, the way he shook his head, like he said sorry and she got to express her peace, like she got her words out from when he walked out on her. thank you Grey's Anatomy. I am complete.
What I love about Christina is that IF she really loves somebody she never stops loving that person! and this is shown in this scene and it breaks my heart
Both Cristina and Sandra deserved an exit like this. She is such an awesome awesome actor.....the expression on her face when Burke says that " you are a magnificent surgeon"......says it all. It means a lot to her that a person of Burke's calibre is saying this. You really get it that 'surgery and medicine' are the only things that make Cristina
The episode where Burke wins the Harper Avery and doesn't name her, she sings this song in the morgue (4x14). And now the same song plays as she is given something equally amazing if not more 🙌🏽 such an amazing full circle moment!!
