Just want to say this video isn't meant to be in chronological order, I put the Tales Of The Empire scenes in the middle as more of a way to show the different animation styles from the different series. Also its just meant to be a video about Grievous massacring Nightsisters.
If you think about it, it makes sense. Grievous' tactics rely on fear and intimidating your opponent before even engaging, and his dark cape helps to enhance that feeling as it gives him a larger silhouette. At first, he's sent to fight Ventress, who knows him well enough already not to be intimidated by him, making the cape useless in that fight. But after that he is only fighting Nightsisters who never saw him before, and thus are vulnerable to his fear tactics, so he throws his cape on to give him the complete psychological advantage over them.
@@dariengonzalez2456 i don't know where you see that. after the ventress fight he's missing the detatchable lower right arm in every shot. only using the 3 sabers left.
i mean the zombies could be just have been focusing on protecting the main passage ways that lead back to their village and when fighting morgans mom they werent around cuz they were protecting the village but u make a hella good point tho
Yeah I think it clearly took place after killing Old Dáka. Since it's stated that Grievous slaughtered the Nightsisters until near extinction so he obviously didn't stop after this village. But rather continued his brutality after saving Dooku from the magic they were using on him.
@@thimovijfschaft3271 Exactly: It wouldn't make sense for Grievous to take his sweet time fighting and killing Morgan's mother and just standing there ordering his army to wipe them out if this was before Old Daka was killed.
Grievous shouting run shows how psychotic and crazed he really is. It's like he's high on murder. Screaming "run" at everyone because he knows he's going to kill them all. It might seem weird him telling them to run, why would he want them to escape, until you realise he's doing it because he knows they can't. It's sadistic and I love it.
Even more sadistic when you consider in this case "run" was also the last thing Morgan's mother said. So he's not just telling her to run but also mocking her with her mother's last words
We haven’t seen Grievous do anything in a show for a long time (not counting his cameos in Season 7 or the Bad Batch episode 1) so it’s great to see him again, with a better appearance, and with an incredible scene showing us the awesomeness of the General. This was one of the best Grievous scenes ever.
This will be the closest thing we get to see how much of a threat general grievous is that's in the same level as his appearance in the 03 clone wars micro series
Just another reason why we need a full on Book of General Grievous series or so. Or tales of General Grievous, to show moments of him before the war and moments in the war where he didn't fight Jedis or Kenobi
I’d say the new night sister scene occurred after the main assault on Mother Talzin. That was grievous going around wiping out the residual night sister groups. Explains why grievous has a cape and also why there’s no zombies with that group of sisters too.
Yeah I also think it's pretty clear that Grievous just continued his slaughter for days after that. Like first of all the obvious thing are later in that same Elsbeth episode where droid ships were still looking for Nightsisters during day time. And second of all: we know that that Nightsisters were massacred to the point where they are facing extinction during Rebels, Fallen Order and Ahsoka. And Fallen Order even makes it clear that Grievous was responsible.
It's also worth noting that Grievous appears to have all four arms even if he only used three, more evidence this was after Talzin and Daka. Plus, he was kinda on the clock to kill those two, I don't think even he would just stop to toy around with some cornered group of Sisters if Dooku was still dying.
Yes he arrived on Dathomir first he wiped out the main group and stopped mother Talzin, then after Dooku was saved he went on to kill the rest of the clan, after all he had to eradicate an entire species and that takes time
And it makes perfect because aside from Grievous wearing the Cape, Nightsisters that Elsbeth was in were not from Ventress and Mother Talzin’s Nightsisters clan, but a separate Nightsisters clan in a different area of Dathomir.
I just noticed how the magic blades are getting worn down with every strike from grievous. At the start, the full blade is glowing with blue runes, but as the battle progresses the magic weakens and by the end only a couple runes are glowing. Then at the end, the magic is worn down to the point where the blades break. Amazing detail.
Shows just how ridiculously hard Grievous can hit. Those blades seem to be the same type of weapon that Talzin uses, but we've never seen her sword's enchantment degrade over the course of the fight like that. Maybe Talzin's blade is just better, but until proven otherwise, I'd like to think of this as one more testament to Grievous' strength.
I don’t think Grievous hitting harder with a plasma blade makes much sense to be far more damaging. We’ve never seen a lightsaber break a lightsaber-resistant material like that.
@@andrewli6606 Sure we have. Some Jedi have managed to pierce beskar-alloy before, and the Praetorian Guards had somewhat resistant armor that was able to take lighter hits from the lightsabers, but Rey and Kylo's heavier blows went right through. Hell, Grievous himself has already done this before, cutting an electrostaff when literally no one else has ever managed to do that. Keep in mind, lightsaber blades have two components; the plasma, and the energy field that contains it. That field gives it some properties of a physical blade, which is why they are able to clash with things. Swinging harder wouldn't increase the heat, so it must be increasing the cutting power.
Wow!!!! Tales of the Empire made Grievous more terrifying than ever before. I'm glad he finally got the respect he deserves. Who here agrees with me when I say he should have his origins explained? Perhaps in Tales of the Separatists? Featuring him and Kalani?
Hopefully, Grievous hasn't gotten much justice in the current canon, and I think he deserves a couple of stories to complement him, with 3 animated shorts showing his tragic past that led to hatred towards the Republic and the Jedis, then showing his transformation into a machine and the first Jedi he killed, and then possibly showing us the attack on Coruscant with the kidnapping of the "chancellor" as he did in Tartakovsky's Clone Wars or perhaps Grievous having a vision of the force like he had in a comic predicting his path of perdition, that would be great
To be fair, he’s at such an incredible disadvantage against someone who knows his style and is fully content with using the dark side. I would cheat too if I was him haha
Quite honestly Grievous just thrives on dathomir. Everyone else fucking hates that place for good reason, it’s like one of the most dangerous planets in the galaxy. But It’s just a playground for him, tons of crazy shit to go out and kill
Anyone else find it weird that Grievous' armor changes are now officially just chalked up to art style differences, when everyone else in the Clone Wars canonically changed outfits/appearances whenever they changed in the show? Like Grievous goes from 4 fingers to 6 in this same battle.
What about the clones? The phase 1 clones in TCW look massively different to the phase 1 clones in AOTC despite canonically being the same set of armor.
It’s not even art style differences, they just updated his design to what it would have been if the clone wars wasn’t cancelled, which is cool but it creates a continuity issue when you watch the two episodes
@@Dano_116it literally is just art style difference, a lot of characters got updated designs in the new clone wars, including the B1 battle droids. In lore General Grievous didn’t get a new armour set in the last year of the clone wars lol.
I wish he pulled that move more often. Most of the time he takes all 4 lightsabers immediately and starts spinning them, then he attacks the same spot with all of them.
It makes perfect sense for the TotE scenes to be after killing Daka. Why would Grievous, the most murderous and psychopathic killer in the galaxy (besides Sidious), stop the onslaught after killing Daka and saving Dooku? Nah, Grievous is going to finish what he was sent for because that's just his style. Remember, in Legends, Grievous years after the Huk War had ended launched a massacre on the Yam'rii, his most hated enemies aside from the Jedi, with the droid armies as a personal vendetta against them for causing his people to suffer. He even killed the very same Jedi that were sent to end the Huk War.
This, THIS was the General Grievous pretty much every fan of his, and even just regular fans of Star Wars, wanted. An unstoppable advancing killing that took great joy in the terror he inflicted upon his enemies. He craved the fearful look in their eyes as he approached, likely the same look many of his own people had before he became their savior, before the Jedi and Republic screwed him and his race over for Republic Credits... He was a monster because that was what his people needed. He was a hero, a messiah, and all he ever wanted was revenge for an total injustice. He was a villain walking a hero's path, which is exactly what you want on your side.
I find it funny that this means grievous went to get his cape before he continued to commit mass genocide. Bro is just built different (except when fighting gungans)
@@starwarshub1Pretty sure it was intentional on Palpatines part, seeing as he basically had control over both Republic and Separtists. Keep the war going in the light, set up the master plan in the dark
@@honeybell4403Dooku should have gotten out of that old rug so bad. They had absolutely everything, military power, the dedication of thousands of nations, but above all strong convictions and a strong spirit. I will never understand his continued devotion to Palpatine.
It always bothers me how Grievous fights irrationally after 2003. Any time he gets in a 4 way lock he could reposition 1 arm to throat choke his opponent and another one to impale his opponent but he's too stupid
@crunks2955 Morgan and her clan got floored after Grevious attacked Ventress's nighsisters. This explains why he only had 3 due to the bottom right hand getting chopped.
Pretty sure that the Nightsisters that Elsbeth was in from "Tales of the Empire" were not from Ventress and Mother Talzin’s Nightsisters clan, but they are likely from a separate Nightsisters clan in a different area of Dathomir.
I love how he’s fighting Selena the magic on her swords is leaving the blade, and that’s what causes it to be easily broken when grievous cuts it with lightsabers.
Imagine Morgan knew that in a way it was Sidious who was responsible for the death of her people. She later joined the Empire but if she knew that the Emperor took part in destroying her kind she would have fought against the Empire
Grievous was an amazing fighter. I would say saber wise he was one of the best duelist at the time. Just lost a lot cause he fought people who were much stronger or just plainly had plot armor. people forget but Grievous has killed more jedi than anyone in that time. Probably even up there with Vader given there were more jedi to hunt during the clone wars.
Grevious went back to Dathomir after Son of Dathomir comic featuring Maul. Maul captured Dooku and Grevious with the help of his Crimson Dawn Mandalorians and lured Palpatine to Dathomir. He and the night brothers were together on Dathomir, mother Talzin was resurrected through Dooku and then killed by Grevious, Palpatine and Dooku (force lighting). So Grevious probably went back after that or was still there when this happened.
Despite the best efforts of General Grievous, he didn't manage to slaughter ALL of the Nightsisters. So far, I know of two survivors. One of them joined the Empire. The other remained on Dathomir. Morgan was the survivor who joined the Empire and was the architect of the TIE Defender that would've helped the Empire turn the tide against the Rebellion. But between Palpatine's desire for a superweapon(the Death Star) and Lothal's Governor Price playing into the rebel's hands, things went downhill. Merrin was the survivor who remained on Dathomir for five years until she met Cal Kestis. She got duped by Taron Malicos, who'd fallen to the Dark Side after Order 66 and prolonged exposure to Dathomir's Dark Side energy. Cal showed her the error of her ways and managed to convince her to help with the quest for the Holocron.
No offense to the greatest series to be made here but ain’t Grievous supposed to be able to read, learn and adapt to ANY saber style? He did he lose to Ve tress like that? If anything, he should’ve pushed her down and is about to slayer her until she uses the force to push him back and when she broke the duel like that is when Grievous sends in his army.
"ain’t Grievous supposed to be able to read, learn and adapt to ANY saber style? " Not canon anymore sadly, that was a EU/legends idea which is why he was a massive threat in the 2003 show/comics.
Grievous’s fight with Selena (Elsbeth’s mother), and him taunting the other night sisters take place after he fights Ventress, and destroys old Daka. So while Ventress goes on the run, the war is still ongoing. He probably had time to put on his cape.
this is cleary a not same war, but this cleary from the comic of the second invasion on Dathomir where Sidious lured Mother Tazin using Maul as bait, and the two fought each other in stalemate with Grevious actually being the one to finish her
Grevious, as instructed by Dooku, rarely fights fair against Force-users since the Force gives them such a massive advantage. Ventress, if focusing on the Force, can easily read his movements and counter attack (Obi-Wan did the same.) Fear and intimidation are his key weapons, and both are bolstered by his sadistic nature. He truly revels in the suffering and despair he causes, and here we can see him unfettered by "Age-ratings" once more.
Now imagine that level of destruction and efficiency on a populated republic world full of civilians and honestly yeah I can see why they avoided letting General "Grievous Crimes" cut loose for most of the show.
I’m pretty sure Grievous killing Morgan’s mother Selena happened after he killed Old Daka because he didn’t have his cape on when he killed her and there were no zombie Nightsisters present when Selena, Morgan, and several Nightsisters made their final stand against the droid army.
I think you got the order of events wrong. It would make more sense if TOTE Grievous attacked the other nightsisters AFTER he killed Old Daca because we don't see any zombie nightsisters during that attack.
Ive never been more happier to root for the Seperatist, every last one of the nightsisters and almost every last one of them have been nothing but a nuisance. They literally are a footnote in the star wars history, as useless as the pacifist mandalorians. Honestly their planet should have been wiped clean out of the galaxy by the death star after it was built.
As good as Tales of the Empire is, there’s only one thing that has me puzzled. He didn’t wear his cloak when he massacred the Nightsisters in the Clone Wars show! How the heck is he wearing it after his duel with Ventress?! It doesn’t make any sense! 🫤🤯🤨
Connfused cause i thought the redesigns were meant to be them just changing clothes and armor between seasons, but Greivous’s tales of the empire model kinda breaks that theory?
It's a shame there's a few continuity errors. Grievous went back to go get his cape apparently, and he somehow got his lost arm that ventress cut off back. But the new scene is really badass so I'll let it slide lol.
The new scene happens a while after the main attack. Grievous just returned to his ship after saving Dooku to get fixed up and grabbed his cape while at it and then started attacking the other Nightsister groups.
@nathanielfisher337 there is a continuity error because he has all 4 arms. His right arm is as thick as his left arm, if one of his right arms was missing it would look like a stick.
Let's be honest. The only way he could have lost is if she used the force. She is a formitable force user, but Griveous is just better when it comes to fencing
0:03 I remembered the voices of clone troopers from Star Wars the clone wars movie. 0:42-3:01 my favorite spinning lightsabers. 2:36 great comparisons of general grevious with or without the cape during the extermination of the night sisters except, lady morgen. 3:32 😂
Why the fuck it is so damm hard for Disney to contain persistant continuity ?!? Grievous doesn't wear a Cape at the beginning of the battle. Three minutes later has cape only then to get rid of it again to sluaghter the oldest Nightsister mother. Why ? I know it's a small, insignificant detail but its contridicting to former solid established lore. And that sucks....
You say that like continuity with the clone was wasn't an issue before Disney. "My powers have doubled since the last time we met count... I know it was like a week ago but it go much better trust me..."
No continuity is broken though? The entirety of the main assault, Grievous wears no cape and loses one right arm, and that’s true to the end when he eliminates Old Daka. Morgan’s pov clearly takes place after the main assault; she and the rest are stragglers being picked off as they flee deeper into the woods. Grievous at this point has his cape now and his missing right arm, and seeing as this is a later point in the massacre, it’s easy to presume he returned to base to get his arm replaced and grab his cape before heading back out. Some of your confusion might be rooted in the fact that this video is not in exact chronological order.
In that day for the night sisters that day was a massacre For grievous that day was an average a non-jedi Tuesday and a taco tuesday it was a tragedy for grievous he don’t could eat his taco complete because dooku was sick of a magic fever that is why grievous was so angry and the droids who went there didn’t eat their whole taco so they were effective to leave earlier and eat their tacos Edit: man imagine being one of those nightsisters who don’t died early and you had to run and hide in a red forest on fire infested with droids and with a evil grievous laugh man and knowing that at least if you are not assaj veintress you will die slowly hiding and being concient that all your family is being killed and that your only option is to hide until a droid squad finds you and kills you or the worst thing that could happend to you is that grievous finds you that is a slow and painful death or being sliced or that grievous cracks your neck
they need to remake the clone wars with updated graphics and a few adjustments to characters such as grievous, he really lost to ventress? the guy who OBI WAN has to defeat because mace thought he is the answer (mace could rock him too)
