Honestly.., I’ve made Huli Huli chicken many many many times.., I am from Hawaiiand live in Hawaii born and raised and part-Hawaiian blood.., and as we make the sauce or use the original bottled product that is not the same recipe for the original Huli Huli sauce.., however if this an adaptation.., great for you.., I’ll try it but I love my original.., or shall I say Hawaii’s original.., but method is on point.., I’ll let you know how your recipe comes out compared to the original
Thanks for the recipe. Going to try it this weekend with bone-in, skin-on thighs. Indirect at first to get some good smoke flavor. I understand the wood they use is a type of mesquite but a bit sweeter than the usual Texas stuff, so going with a mix of mesquite with a bit of apple wood. Fingers crossed!!
Amazing! I’ll try to do “two whole chickens and a coke” (name that movie folks) but I have to find a container big enough to brine. Maybe this weekend if it doesn’t rain. Look delicious!
Just made this for me and my mom, that sauce is amazing!! Thank you for this recipe, soooo good. Did the whole chicken. The brine gave it such a good flavor!!
That chicken looks Amazing! I will do two Whole Chickens spatchcocked just like you did! That will feed 6 plus leftovers. Yumm! Thank you for all your recipes!
I just made my first BBQ chicken of the season yesterday on the Weber grill as it reached 60 degrees here in the North! Wish I saw this yesterday but my next cook will be the Huli Huli! Looks delicious thanks for this!
I made this today on my Zgrills with oak pellets using thighs and it took me back to HA - the islands - great sauce maybe a lil too long in the brine but it all comes together perfectly
