Hi guys. I live in Nizhny Novgorod in Sormovo. I work in IT. I know a little English :) and know a lot about Nizhny Novgorod and Russia in general. In my time I lived, worked and studied in different countries (Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey), but in 1994 I finally settled in Russia. If you have a desire to socialize, as well as get an idea about various aspects of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, its traditions, rules and legislation then let me know. I have a car, so I can also sometimes help you with transportation. And just telling you more about Russia can be useful too. I am sure that the decision to come to Russia will end up being the best decision of your life. Best wishes!

Blessings to you and your family from the mountains of southwest Virginia. It's nice to see I'm not the only westerner considering leaving the what feels like godless west for Russia. My great great grandmother was from Russia, she fled when things started to go bad and the Tsar was in trouble before the Revolution there and was so happy to get to the USA that she named her first daughter America. She wouldn't recognize the USA today and would probably be warning me and all her heirs to get out and go while we still can to somewhere like Russia. Because the Biden Regime (who I hope the rest of the world, especially those in Russia realize wasn't elected but installed like a toilet into the White House against citizens wishes) really has it out for Conservative Christian people. In the US we open our borders to drug cartels, criminals and those that traffic in sex and smut but we have Veterans that fought for the US living on the streets. We have elderly Americans that worked hard their entire lives sitting in cold homes because they cannot afford to heat them having to decide between eating or medication, and yet we give the illegals everything for free. This country is falling apart and I've been thinking for years about getting out and Russia would be my top pick. Russia has built more churches every year than any place on earth. Their leader Putin is a Christian who cares about his country and it's people. We here in the West have leaders that hate us, do everything they can to make our lives harder and actively push for us to be dead. If I had children I would already be out of America and the West, but I never married and didn't have children because for me it felt like the wrong thing to bring them into the world I was seeing. You can't even take children in here in America in foster care without dangerous risks like them burning down your home or other terrible things because they've seen too much and are the products of drug addicted parents. I often thought about trying to sell my home while prices are high and look into moving to Russia, I have many skills I could offer and perhaps adopting children there. Because here in the West they want to take your children and corrupt them with LGBT+ and other horrible godless agendas. It should be clear to everyone that the West is the dying Roman Empire and the only hope for humanity to carry on is Russia. Also the horrible way our media and government talks about Russia when I'll say this as someone who's had an ancestor fight in every war America has been in starting with the Revolutionary war, if our corrupt government gets us into war with Russia I will not be on the side of our government. I'd rather stand with a good Christian Nation like Russia, so there are many of us and that is why our miltary recruitment numbers are so low, many of us know who the real enemy is and it's not Russia it instead is within our own borders and is our own governments and those that they sold us out to.

You're all already adapting, not bad for the first time in Russia. I love to see how all is developing since I went through the same when I moved from Italy. Here in the south Urals food prices are a little bit lower, or maybe it's just the shop but we go to SPAR as well. Friends keep asking me to open a blog or a RU-vid channel but I really wouldn't have the constancy to keep it updated like you do. I notice in the West the interest and curiosity for Russia keeps growing, and also russians are very interested about the reasons of us americans or europeans moving to their country. Good luck, and waiting for new updates 👍

Great job with the video. The store you went into for shopping (Spar) isn't really cheap compared to a lot of others in Russia. Trying looking for places like Pyaterochka, Pytorchika, Lenta, Auchan or Globus. Spar in Russia isn't realy that popular for every day shopping for things like fruits, vegtables or regular food items. Spar is popular where people call in fort a ready made meal like you pointed out. It's definately worth going to a few different supermarkets until you find the ones you like and prefer more.

I d recommend to visit such discounters like svetofor (светофор), dobrotsen (доброцен), chizik (чижик) etc.. if there are any nearby of course. Such shops are definitly a place worth visiting for grossing

Mass media is always lying, no matter in what country it located. Best option is to check independent sources like this channel. How sanctions is supposed to stop food supply to Russia if we basically grow and harvest almost everything from crops to animals. Sanctions actually helped local farmers/companies and they get bigger market share inside Russia. And you still can get "sanctioned" products, but you have to pay extra for it, thanks to "parallel import".
Compared to the wages food and clothing is still cheaper in the US. Services is what makes a difference, e.g. medicare. By western standards Russian private medicine is insanely cheap, even by our standards it's pretty affordable.
It all comes down to purchasing power parody, prices are cheaper in Russia, but wages are lower. In a nutshell, sanctions sting in the short term but benefited Russia long term because they kicked out a lot of foreign competition increasing the domestic industry which can produce products priced affordably for the Russian economy
I would love to shop in Russia. Food is so cheap!!! I can understand why people are moving there. It is a bargain. I earn $90,000, U}I would live like a king there!!! God bless.

What you should like about Russia is that the tipping culture is definitely not as aggressive as in the USA (I assume since Canada is so close to the States, this trouble has reached you too) Here they tip only in catering places and hotels and only if a person really did his job well. How beautiful is innocence! Feel like a child, start learning again. Enjoy that experience and laugh at yourself because that is beautiful. I studied in the USSR, in Moscow and I have more comical experiences from when I knew little Russian than at the end of university. A good tip is to learn from the winter culture in Russia. I live in the US and here most people do not dress correctly when it is cold, which is why they get sick very frequently.

@@marias5088 In past I was ...a Russian immigrant to Canada. I had many Russian friends, who had children. I can say, that the yangest children, who went to elementary school in Canada - most of them lost Russian ( theyr parents worked and didn't have enough time to talk to them every day... ) The children , who arrived to Canada in 11-15 years and older - all had Russian language survived, however all of them got some noticable accent.
@user-dn7vh4pz4s My grandpa from Sergach wich is 170KM from Nizh to Kazan, black soil as well, spent a lot of time helping him planting and harvesting while summer holidays.
I’d love to immigrate to Russia. I have partial Slavic ancestry on my mother’s side. My prediction for the USA is that it will become majority Hispanic. As an American of European ancestry, I would rather live amongst Europeans.
Hats off to you folks. I’m from Alberta where you once called home. Canada has regressed so badly since Justin took power it’s now hard to recognize. All the best. My grandparents homesteaded here in 1910. Mile north of our home quarter a Russian family homesteaded. Isn’t it ironic now we are going to Russia to find freedom. Weird eh.
I watch a guy here on You Tube his channel is Travelling with Russell. He is an Australian living in Russian. Tons of grocery store videos on his channel. Compares prices. Someone may have told you about his channel before. God bless your beautiful family andthank you for taking all of us on your journey. Watching you from Vancouver Island.
Happy to see you recovered already. As a russian it would be very interesting to see your journey of integration in our coulture. I'm sure it will be tough at times, but it will be fine. I thought a lot about what kind of advice to give you, what you should know about us thats helpfull but not so obvious. And so apart from simple rules of just being a nice guy dont be afraid to use a "foreigner card" even after several years of living here. Being a foreigner is a blessing. Its a nice topic starter, nice way to meet many people, you will be welcomed 99% of the times, people will forgive many things and be patient with you. And being a foreiner you will almost never have any troubles with police, they will be very polite and will help you if you ask them. For some it could be tiring that people treat you differently, but its just the way it is. People in russia dont have prejudice about foreigners so they will accept you as a part of their russian community. Anyway everything will be ok with a little bit of patience.
One trick that helped me to learn japanise was to watch my favourite shows/films in that language with subtiteles in russian. If you have a show that you have watched many times, that you know all the dialogs it can be very helpfull. It will not only help with vocabulary, you will understand how the same emotions are expressed in different culture. The only catch is that for this method to be at its best you should know at least some basic level (like i did with english), or alternitavely you can just watch a lot of them (it worked out for me with japanise). I hope it will help. Unfortunately russian although very poetic, can be quite difficult language to master.@@countrysideacreshomestead2008
@@countrysideacreshomestead2008 If I could give you a piece of advise, it could be much easier to learn the language through songs, because there are lots of difficult rules of conjugation and declension in Russian, and most of Russians don't know them all themselves but there's a certain musicality in Russian, and it's easier to catch it in songs. For example, "he is my beloved" - "on moy dorogOy", "I see my beloved" - "Vizhu moyevO dorogOvo". Besides, it's a great activity to learn songs with children :) May God help your family in everything!
@@countrysideacreshomestead2008 They only way you will learn the language is immersion. You are already immersed but you should work every day to learn as quickly as possible. Lots of stuff online. 1. Learn the "small words". These are connectives, pronouns, etc. It's all the small words that "glue" nouns, verbs, etc together. It's the ones that slip by that you don't recognize that make it hard to hear/understand the larger words in context. Once you know them well then the larger words will be easier to remember because you will be able to hear them more. 2. Listen to a lot of Russian. You must get the feel in your mind of how it works. Just listen, even if you understand nothing, just listen. Over time it will become more clear and as you are studying in other ways you will start to hear more words you know and also learn how they pronounce things. 3. Learn the alphabet. 4. Study the most common nouns and verbs. 5. Make sure you immerse yourself. Have word lists you study every day. Have things printed out pasted around you that you can see. 6. Learn the grammar. The grammar is the logic of the language. It is not necessary but it can help provide some answers things you might find "confusing" about the language. 7. Don't worry about pronunciation. Just learn how the alphabet works and by listening you will eventually pick up the nuances. 8. Read a lot. This helps glue all the things you hear in to a visual format that can help make sense of what you hear(it will build on itself). Take every opportunity to study some of the language. It is not difficult to learn a new language but it takes a lot of time. The more you can condense that time in a day the faster it happens. E.g., you will never learn a language if you just study 15 minutes a day. Your brain does not work like that. You use your native language almost constantly. You have to learn to do the same with any other language. My suggestion is to use your kids to help speed the process up. Get them excited about it, get them to help produce materials and create "games" and such. Start watching movies and start "pretending to be Russian". If you try to resist learning it will slow down the process tremendously. You are now a Russian so you need to start acting like one and one thing all Russians have in common is their language. As an adult it is much harder to learn a language than a child not because we are dumber(an adult is nearly infinitely more intelligent) but because we are more critical of ourselves, more self-conscience and lazier(or maybe busier). But you must start listening to a lot of Russian even if you do not understand a word. You should get some basic words to "listen for". It is the active listening for how they say things, how it matches up to the text, and ultimately what they are saying(which requires you to be able to hear the "spaces"(which may not actually exist) between words). Think about it like interest. If you put money in the bank and there is a low interest rate and you do not add to the principle it grows very slowly. But if you keep adding money and have a high interest then it grows exponentially(slowly at first but fast at the end). If you were to spend 5 hours a day studying Russian then in a year you will be able to easily communicate in most situations. If you spend 15m a day you will never reach the point to communicate except a few phrases you learn. If you bust your a55 now to learn as much as you can then that enables it to build on itself in the future. If you put it off then you won't have that time in the future to build. You should, at the very least, spend 1 hour every night listening to Russian. At 15m going over a word list. This is minimum. It sounds like a lot but it's not. When you can you should spend 5 hours a day studying. At least 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night is the fastest way to learn as long as you have it all structured. You can learn a few hundred words in a month easy. You'll need a few thousand words to feel comfortable. It should be your top priority, besides surviving, to learn the language. It is the language that will make or break you because it will be the language that lets you integrate in to the society and feel apart of it. It is a lot of work at the front, if done right, that pays off at the end. Once you get cooking it becomes much easier. It is about getting over the hump then it is all down hill.

Our washing machines also have a spin cycle, after that we put it all in the dryer and walk away. It saves a lot of time for a large family. We like to use a laundry line to dry our clothes in the summer though.
@@countrysideacreshomestead2008 Due to central heating, the air in the apartments is very dry, you may be surprised, but in winter clothes dry much faster than in summer.
Driers take a toll on fabric and cause clothes to wear off faster. I’m Russian and have been living in Canada for 15 years, and I still dry my clothes on a rack. I only use a drier for drying bedsheets.
welcome to Russia (I'm from Kazan)! what place do you plan to settle? I know that's kind of hard, since Russia is so big. @@countrysideacreshomestead2008 Hi there! About farming in Nighniy Novgorod. There was a TV show about russian oldbelievers, Who returened to Russia which they left during 1918. Malahov, oldbelievers (May u search). So, one of the families couldn't settle down in Primorsky kray (because of the climate affected his wife badly) and moved to Nighniy Novgorod region. There they wanted to get a free land and to teach his son farming, but couldn't. A man from the russian parlament was at this show and said that all land in this region is private but promised to help him somehow. About free land (that is a programm between government and oldbelievers, returning back home or another such a called "Far East gektar" which can be given for free to anyone at the Fareast territories). Don't know for sure wether it is useful information or not. But u should investigate more attentively, because big agrofarmes and small Farmers not "friends" as i've heard. So please communicate to the society and groups in a sphere u want to get profit or success to understand all problems current and potential, climate, community, get in touch with People. There is a saying: You are buying not land but neighboures. Hope this Will help. Maybe someone could comment on this topic more professionally. One more example: you want to make honey, bees for your honey should fly around your area on other fields, but these fields at summer can be worked up against bad insects with chemicals. Consider this, please, because almoste every summer Farmers complaign there bees are diying because of the someone messed the time of working the plants or bought the wrong unquality chemicals (usualy from China). Factories are working now, skilled People are needed.
You're lucky and smart to have relocated. Russia is rich in culture, citizens have more class in my opinion. I'm Canadian born 2nd generation with Ukrainian and Polish heritage.
