I speaking from Thailand. It's wonderful supermarket. I worked in Russia 8 years and i had met so many good peoples in Russia. I love Russian as i love Thailand.🇹🇭🇷🇺
It saddens my heart that governments are trying to tear people apart. You and Valeria Kovtunova have opened my eyes to the fact that the Russian people are kind hearted, wonderful people.
Yes! I feel the same way you do. My eyes were opened by watching the Russian RU-vidrs who taught me so much about the Russian culture, language and history. We are more alike than different. Of course, Russia has a smarter and sexier president though! 😉
@@RussianPlus Yes he is! I think at some point he said something in Spanish and Arabic as well :) after 10 years I’m still dealing with my French and English 😂. Looking forward to your next video Slava. Cheers from a Peruvian fan, btw you should wear more often your Peruvian soccer team T-shirt, it fits you very well 😜.
thats awesome thanks guys i miss the stores so much. i loved walking though them an picking things up. One time i went through Globus bought a whole cart full of things 18,000 rubles and then when i got outside i saw a little lady coming in and i asked if she spoke english she said yes.. i said you see what is in my cart she said yes.. i said can you use all this? she said yes i said here it's yours all of it.....have a nice day i said. She said no she couldn't take it.. i said i am not from here and i have no place to take this too... so i bought it because i wanted just to give it to a well deserving person. I said i am Native American Indian and in my part of the world we share what we have or buy for the people who need things. i do this back home occasionally too. i said here is receipt so people will not think you stole it.. have a nice day and i walked off. shopping was so much fun thank you for sharing.
Much love from Bulgaria. I hope you guys get well soon and overcome sanctions. Btw this is a opportunity for you to rebuild the old soviet production. You have fine engineers and resources.
Zdrasti Kak e? Remi is that your real first name? my son is half French and half Bulgarian on his mother's side and I named him Rémi. Are they many people named like this in BG?
Slava is gradually becoming like an inspiration on how i am going to continue moving my own channel forward on this platform. Much love from Abuja, Nigeria.
I nearly had a heart attack when you said "Like Wawa in Philadelphia." Outstanding video. Lovely Lena always provides great content. Love from Philly, Slava.
Wow, that store is world class! Without doing any detailed analysis of your prices, my quick impression is that, compared to the US prices: your bread is dirt cheap, your pineapples are really expensive, the Lindt chocolate is about the same, and your overall total is probably about the same.
The items I've particularly noted here in Salt Lake City, which is comparable to prices in most of the US, over the past year or so: cucumbers have been crazy cheap (often around two for $1), pineapples have been very reasonable (usually $2.50 to $3 each), and avocados (approx. 2/3 from Mexico and 1/3 from California) have been crazy expensive, roughly double what they were a year ago (now often $1.50 each for medium or large). For the past year, bottled water has been in short supply due to a plastic shortage.
Bread is cheap in the US.. mainly reason bread is cheap cause of "cheap" general ap flour they are all based on 1$-2$. This is basically just cheap "carbs"; even the french bread, or bakery which is cheap flour bread, which russians use too. While better quality bread above 3$ like whole grain, like sara lee, wonder kids, has more nutrition(protein, fiber, vita's, cheap bread rarely has this)), a lot more healthier. Your probably looking at the "organic"gluten free, msg free, nature, hipster trend kind, where its like 5$ or more lol.. considering its a rip off to buy and a scam.
This is the most expensive store in the city. Normally you can find groceries at least 20-30% cheaper at any other chain store. As for pineapples, its regular price at any other store would be 2,5 times less.
I'd like to see the prices compared to the average salaries for different jobs. I wonder how different the prices are now. They have risen significantly over the past few years in America.
What a great selection! I remember the documentaries in the 1970s when on American TV we would see a very long line in a Russian market and the store shelves were almost bare. Quite a stark contrast to your markets today! Спасибо!
@@RussianPlus if you are in georgia now, can land owners build homes with no rules? can i build my home by my own hands, cutting up wood and putting together a house, or i need engineered housing stamps, architecture designed approved stamps, building code permits, inspectors? if you know this or ask someone, i appreciate it very much, for Batumi rural area.
In the EU we are increasingly using food banks and skipping meals....but it's worth it to irritate Vladimir Vladimirovich and to deplete his war chest and fight for democracy....I'm being ironic.....it's all deliberate by the Great Satan....
@@daviddoran3673 i learned to become a monk, i save a lot of energy costs, my body can walk in open of -20c, and i can eat 1 leaf per day, for my vegetable nutrients, and i drink water when it rains on my head, i shower only when rain gives me shower. all this has help me only crap once a week, thus helping the environment without excessive human waste.
I did too! I wonder how he ended up in Yekaterinburg. Anyway, that's an awesome store. I miss Russia. I haven't visited in 3 yrs now because of covid mainly.
I went into the store, the shelves were empty, there was nothing to eat, made a scandal, the security guard kicked me out, said that this was a furniture store.
Wow!!This Grocery Shop is fantastic, as there is a wide choice of products. You have a very rich gastronomy department, like in Italy. I also love Ciabatta, even though I usually buy Baguettes as they both are so crusty! Anyway prices were not so different from the Italian ones. In my valley there are some grocery shops but also many little shops that sell specific products and if we want to go to mega department stores we must move towards or nearby Turin. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us.
The disparity between how Russians and Americans are portrayed is absolutely insane. We are far more alike than we are different, imagine the things we could accomplish together if politicians didn't get in the way...
I don't think so. Do Americans also invade other countries for the sake of "let's make America bigger" and "empire needs new territories"? I don't think so. Russians are inherently aggressive and can't mind their own business especially with neighbors. Look at putler - a bunch of inferiority complexes from the childhood and now Ukraine is washed in blood - russians do get killed a lot, too.
It is unbelievable to me to see this kind of supermarket in Yetakarerinaberg because the last time I was in Moscow in 1997 there was very few it was just beginning. And I grew up with Russian cuisine because my grandmother made everything from scratch she was from Belarus we had dark bread we had Pelly and me we had Borst we had chicken Kyiv we have walnuts and raisins
Wow! I would expect most viewers would have a challenge finding a grocery store with that kind of selection in driving distance. In our urban area, we have nothing like that! Thanks for taking us on a tour. Very interesting. ..... And yes, you are right. Earlier on was not the right time to post this video. We pray for peace too.
I love it so much. maybe if it is for other countries, I will not care about it. But for Russia, yes. I had been there in 2015 for 1week, in 2016 for 1 week, in 2017 for one month (MGU), and in 2018 Mondial for 1 month. Hope to be there again and every year. I LOVE RUSSIA
your accent is so good, you could literally pass as an american. I'd love to try some of those products. I hear the cottage cheese is aa big thing there, I'd expect it to be excellent and with lots of different varieties.
I have been following Russian vlogs about Western businesses leaving Russia. What I hate to see is Ikea leaving, but for McDonalds, jeez, I will never miss them. For the past 20 years I've only been to McDonalds once , and that was because I was in the middle of middle of nowhere during my trans-America road trip, and had no other choice that evening!
Thank you and Lana for being the wonderful travel guides via youtube that you guys are! I love all your videos! I pray one day soon the tensions in Russia will cool and I will be able to travel there. I usually always cook with olive oil. I just made my first Borscht and i love it!!! Pilaf is very tasty because you can put so many different things in it. Tom Yum soup is my favorite Thai soup.
I use olive oil only. Sorry i cant quote prices for St Louis Missouri but all prices for everything has gone up. I mostly eat fish, tilapia, cod, salmon, tuna and others, also chicken. Mozerella cheese occasionally feta and gruyere or Wisconsin extra sharp cheddar. Brown eggs, a little skim milk, ginger tea, green tea, and lemon, mint and my favorite chamomile tea. My favorite vegetable vinaigretted asparagus, and lettuce salad with anything vegetable added! I like your store, good variety everything fresh. Very nice. Thanks for sharing! Spasibo! Paka, paka! 😘
I Slava I haven't seen your videos lately. This is a great one...groceries! So I live in California, USA & these are how some prices reflect from my city... Pineapple - too expensive Bread - cheap coffee - expensive crab - expensive By the way, I use olive oil. Ahmed...such a friendly guy & is great to see other Nationalities living there. Take care friend 👏
@@daviddoran3673 What? Stop listening those ppl. Russia is going to be a land of New Earth! You will see it yourself. Yes, the purging process will take place for sure but after that this is going to be the land of completely new consciousness and ppl will thrive here.
Russia is sooo fortunate to have real patriotic and smart leaders, unlyke we have in EU. You have developed so much since 90's and I wish you all the best.
Hi from San Diego. I use sunflower oil also more sustainable and cheap. The holadest beef jelly I like it on a hot summer day with the cold yogurt soup with dill. Your shopping looks like an American diet with only slight differences.
What a fantastic grocery store! Looks better than many grocery stores in America. A good loaf of bread here costs five dollars or more. There are cheaper breads, of course. I like Corona beer, but I add a pinch of salt and wedge of lime.
People need to separate their opinions of government and the people. I live in Texas in the US but my views are very different than my government. Yes I live here but that doesn’t mean I always agree with everything going on.
I love watching how people all over the world live their daily lives. We are different but have the human experience in common, though it is different from place to place. Lots of people speak English in Russia, it's fairly amazing. I hope you are doing well during this time. Blessings from Chicago ☀️☺️
Wow, what an awesome store! We have nothing quite like that here in Oshkosh, though Festival Foods at least somewhat approaches it. It was interesting to see the mix of low and surprisingly high prices there, depending on item. Bread and oil was incredibly cheap, meat and beer not so much. Thanks for the tour. :)
I'm from Minnesota USA I love your RU-vid channel would have never known what Russia was really like if I didn't watch it you guys are just like us so much
Slava’s videos are always in for excellent content both visually and in the wording used. Especially his final comment as to why he published this video filmed at the beginning of the year shows Slava and his beautiful wife are special people who have experienced the world “outside “ Russia while the vast majority of Russians will never see this. Now, is it still appropriate to give a such a compliment to a person in Russia while “Pjotr the Short” and his minions are trying to divide the people in the country into those being all for his dreadful regime or being “traitors”? Anyway, it’s good to see Slava and Lena are continuing to produce excellent content from outside Russia. Let’s hope their exodus will not last too long until they can return to their home country.
@@RussianPlus yes I no.i never been to russia.i have been to ukraine.long time ago.i see your prices back then we're cheap sure not now.i am a subscriber.👍
Nice video Slava, I’m sad for you and the tragedy taking place in Ukraine. I hoped humanity was moving forward but it seems we aren’t. I guess all we can do is hope and pray that goodness, kindness and understanding prevails
This supermarket reminds me of a very upscale Whole Foods in a big city, but the prices are way cheaper in Yekaterinburg compared to say, Seattle or Portland. Fascinating video, to me anyway. BTW I mostly cook with Canola oil or Olive oil. How have things changed since the war and sanctions took hold? Thanks for the post!
@@RussianPlus Canola is also known as "rapeseed". The name "canola" comes from "Canada". It's considered healthier than other common vegetable oils such as corn oil or cottonseed oil.
Yes, russians also think that about all people in earth ! We dont want any wars, only peace for any ! Only politicals who dont want resolver conflicts in diplomacy way in both sides is threat for normal people !
@@romanzmlv1458 I respect you because you are Russian muslim. Just imagin ,,if you behave like an" Indian muslim"what will happen to you in Russia. We respect and love Russians ❤️🌸❤️
I,am French and used to live 15years in OKLAHOMA.. I have to say you have in RUSSIA a lot more reference than WALMART, better choice of yogurt, cheese, fish, chocolates, cans, etc.... a lot of more item they have in WALMART (walmart have a bigger quantity but less references) .. .. your shop look like an AUCHAN, HYPER-U, CARREFOUR in France...
I didn't realize that you went to Greece !!! So happy to hear you visited my beautiful country! Where exactly did you go ? Did you enjoy your visit ? Iam from the island of Kefalonia on the west coast . Love your videos 🤩
My wife and I watched this one too. She was really interested. And she thinks your wife is lovely. And we are in the middle of the Konigsberg/Kalingrad video. Well done as well.
I haven't seen your channel for a long time but happy this showed up. I do see a couple of other channels from Russia. You still have your Tennessee accent. All the best to you and all of your country.
Thank you for sharing! That's a nice grocery store! Here in Canada I use either Avocado oil or Coconut oil for cooking at high temperatures (Coconut mostly for dessert). I love olive oil in salads. I really love your content! I too hope and pray for peace... Take care and stay safe!
Hey, Man ! I do enjoy so much the way you show Russian way of living to foreign people who are interested but unfortunately living too far to find out by themselves. I am a Canadian citizen hoping that peace will finally prevail all over the whole world. I do love Russia, I do trust Vladimir Putin. Coconut oil is good for health, hot or cold. Bye !!!
Man I'd love to go shopping with you two. Just to see all the great looking food you guys have. Too bad you can't grocery store graze any more the same thing here I miss it. But that food looks oh so good. Oh here's a greek salad for you. It's made of cucumbers, dill, and what's called tzatziki sauce I love it my step dad makes it from time to time.
I don't use oil, i use unsalted butter. I really like this grocery store and it tops any grocery store I've ever seen in The USA A very classy place to shop!
Are bread is over six dollars a loaf . And going up . Are food doesn't look like yours . Yours looks so good .and quality . Are halibut is twenty five dollars a pound .
We use expeller expressed coconut oil. It does not taste like coconuts ( unlike virgin oil) so it's good for frying etc. It is still very high in the fatty acid Lauric acid. lauric acid has many health benefits, including antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and anticancer properties. 👍
