Romain Grosjean crashes into the wall at the final corner right at the end of the Fast 12 qualifying session ahead of this weekends 2022 Detroit Grand Prix at Belle Isle
Man Grosjean’s having a rocky season so far at Andretti. I know everyone expected him to be challenging for the title but maybe placing him as a championship contender this year was setting the expectations far too high on him after just one season in a midfield team. I hope he can turn it around but I think he at least needs this year is a learning year
I think it's all about the pressure that stems from expectation. Remember when he seemed genuinely happy, refreshed and excited at the family-business atmosphere of Dayle Coyne? There were no expectations that year. Not in his mi nd. Now suddenly a top team means top results...and it's getting to him. Now he looks as happy as he did in F1.
Hard to challenge championship when you aren’t confident on ovals. Which makes up a decent portion of the calendar. I mean he is a top 6 driver on road and street courses for the most part. Needs to get that first win to get some confidence. I notice he is pretty cautious with using the button early in races. I think he needs to get on it more earlier to pass. Look at Herta. Blew 100seconds of p2p on 10 laps but got up to 3rd place from 11th at one point
