This game has come so far from when i played it in early access. Which is absolutely crazy to me, because they were doing a lot back then with their updates. Mad respect to those guys, seriously. One of the most impressive teams I've seen, they've done an incredible job

One thing I always take into account that I usually don’t see on these videos is that all clubs can hit multiple enemies at once… for that reason alone I chose the mint mace or demon club for upper yard Becayse there’s always larva on the side of whatever your fighting, or ants, or termites ect. It’s really good for taking them out in groups.

Dps is a good stat to look at but the problem with high dps is you can't constantly swing. So eventhough it has highest dps on paper, it doesn't mean that it can do the most damage in the damage window. Flying bugs being a perfect example.

Funny - I was surprised how good the bone dagger was playing in the early game. This explains it! Yes, resistances make a difference higher up the game, but a quick dive early on really speeds up close combat fighting damage.

I’m a fan of the Mother Demon Club. DPS as a stat isn’t that important in this game cuz calculating it ignores blocking, stunning, positioning, the value of the 3rd hit in combos, etc.

I’ve been swapping between a Fresh Tiger Mosq Rapier and a Spicy Toenail Scimitar. This gives me flexibility and I can use the Blademaster mutation for both. Swapping freely between a spear and a sword would be annoying if you wanted to use the Javileener/Blademaster mutations. Also, I play a tank for my group so a lifesteal weapon is convenient. I often use the TN scimitar when I’m full health and switch to the Rapier if I take damage.

This seems a bit simplistic. Even without weaknesses and resistances, so many combinations of gear and mutations would alter the fastest kill for each weapon surely

I think with the new patch the mother demon club is by far the best as not only venom and nothing is resistant to it but you can stack the brood helmet and widow gear to apply poison AND venom(you could probably run a crit side with mantis chest n legs for triple DOTs) which shreds without barbarian already, but if you're confident enough you could also use liquid rage and the damage charm and mantis can easily be killed within a minute even with the flat damage resistance

Rusty spear is also very inexpensive to craft. It's the only reason why I crafted it over the other weapons but now with mint effect I use it for most creatures in the upper yard. Spicy tick bat for spiders.

Was anyone else disappointed by how much of the upper yard is untouchable. I was curious what the fiddle heads would be used for and then let down when i found out they couldnt be cut down.

That spicy coaltana destroys wolf spiders so fast its insane.

I'd be curious to see how well unarmed + lil fist 3 + power droplet compares. Lil fist 3, according to wiki, increases unarmed damage by 75% per stack, 1 stack per hit, until fight is over - no limit to number of stacks. The icon for it doesn't show on the main UI, but is listed in bottom-right of inventory and top-left of status page. Easy to look at during fights if have it enabled to pause game on menus. I've seen stack counts over 70 on boss fights. The power droplet accessory's effects are also shown on inventory/status screens when equipped. It has 2 positive buffs and 0 negative. Not only does it increase unarmed damage even more, it adds a chance to proc an addition attack. It also allows applies affects from mutations that are for other weapon types. So like assassin, for example. And now, reading the second linked reddit post, dude says that unarmed does "true damage", which bypasses armor and resists?? Holy crap! Oh and don't forget to add truffle tussle, that explosion does a large amount of damage.

I think the best weapon in the game is scythe of the blossoms. Let me explain. It has one of the highest weapon swing speed in the game, it has quite decent damage ( maybe 5 or more bars) it is chopping weapon. And most of the end game creatures like ants, ladybirds, soldier ants, mosquitos, bees, all of the infected stuff, even some of the spiders are wak to fresh. And almost all of them are weak to fresh and chopping (ladybirds and ants are different weakness). What that means is when you have fresh maxed out scythe of the blossoms you have the best weapons for almost every end game creature and with the apex predator mutation you have the fastest possible weapon in the yard. + for me its the mlst cool looking one. And it has even the yoked blows so if you crit you will inflict a much more damage. And you can harvest grass and stems.

personally i think the pinch wacker is op cause nothing is immune to its shock and it can be paired with a sheild at very early game

Daggers wear out fast from my experience and the fast hitting weapons don't stun. The throwing your weapon strategy clutters your inventory and I'm not sure if identical weapons would replace your hot key slot after chucking them similar to torches that burn out. I think I'd still rather use the Mint Mace or Mother Demon Club against Black Widows because of the stun breaks mid-fight. I invested resources into a Level 8 Tick Sword based on another recommendation. It ended up being underwhelming, but at least it's one handed. The Mint Mace 2-3 shots so many creatures or stuns them for easy finishes after that. If it truly doesn't do generic damage, than the only risk of damage resistance is from it being a pure Fresh weapon while still being eligible for the Mighty path damage/durability buffs. Mint Mace, Spicy Antlion Great Sword/Spicy Coaltana takes care of 90% of the enemy variants. Salt Morning Star + Tier 3 Shield handles Antlions and to a good extent Termites as well, but I think that Rusty Spear could be better against Termites despite losing the stuns. If I ever make a new save I'm gonna become Aquaman in the pond as soon as possible to get the Sunken Bone weapons and Koi Armor instead of prioritizing the Red Ant Club.

Using spear with mask of the mother give you pretty good amount of tries to apply venom effect too

The best play would be to have one weapon for each damage type, all fully upgraded, then get the candy trinkets to swap elemental & damage type on the fly, based on what you need to fight. Good luck actually getting the trinkets though lol.

IT IS THE CLUB OF THE MOTHER DEMON. Highest dps is going to include mutations and armor. If anyone can beat the brood mother on medium in under 18 seconds or the mantis in under 33 seconds with any other weapon than they’ll have my praise. Until then Brood is the Highest DPS /DPM and always has been hands down. Beat my record Mediocre please prove me wrong and make a video , you and my other fellow backyarders are now challenged.

Finally, I’m so happy we got a great spear in the end! Also, Javelineer is a great mutation.

Backing early access, I developed something called the triple dagger technique, and it would go something like double combo with the first dagger, throw, triple combo with the second dagger, throw again, and finish with the third dagger.

if you go the spicy route with a termite axe it takes down wolf spiders, orb weavers, bombardier beetles, and red ants/ soldiers extremely quickly

I love the Rusty Spear and Toenail sword. I like fast swinging one handed weapons. All my friends use clubs and I do notice that they do chunk health with each hit but I'm always picking them up because they can't block 😅😂 Having a shield is worth it to me. Negates all damage and poison, even without a perfect block.

i have the toenail on spicy and rusty with salt, plus my mint mace its my primary by my play style. works for me very good

Really, I think your ability to time blocks matters way more than any weapon. At different points of the game different weapons shine, but you always have to be able to block or you do really bad.

So basically club of the mother demon is the weapon with the most damage but it isn't really the best for killing things fast

I know this was long ago, but is the mint mace a good weapon? I just crafted it, but I kinda miss the pinch whacker/shield I had going on

I feel like the salt morning star is the best weapon for the upper yard because alot of the bugs in the upper yard are weak to salty

Why not carry a chest around like you would when gathering planks and stems?

you should make a quick video about generic damage. a lot of players don't know what that is. they are specially good for insects that have resistance on basically any type of weapon... except generic damage!

You can also auto attack cancel by blocking real quick thus mitigating some speed limitations.

So does difficulty not affect these? As the enemy resistances/defenses go up surely that would alter the better weapons?

There is no "best weapon" it depends on the weaknesses and resistances of the opponent you are taking out

The best weapon is situational. There's not one weapon that is THE BEST. There are a few weapons for the specific job at hand.

Doesn't mighty just increase the raw damage? Like bulky just increases defense for armor instead of adding an affect

When it come to fire ants, my go to is to use a club for stunning. Once its stunned, then I pull out my crossbow and shoot it in the eye for big damage

its actually fist with lil fist, truffle tussle, coup de grass, and a power droplet

i think you need to mention the daggers hit there combo damage on the second swing and never stop swinging after combos they will always have the highest dps

I replaced my chopping ax with the sour battle ax as one of my weapons and I just use the spicy katana as my other weapon I mow through most enemies easily. When I fight black widows I use a fire ant club

I'm more of a fan of special, enemy specific, weapons. Or at least region specific anyway. My fresh tiger mosquito sword for ant hills because ants are weak to piercing and the fire ants hate fresh. Salty ox hammer for labs, ox beetle, rolly polly and so on. My favorite is my salty dagger that turns diving spiders into toilet paper. See spider, wipe your butt with him.

I feel like, without even watching, 'best' is highly subjective, based on playstyle and opponent. If you're smacking at a bug that is resistant to slashing, a sword is going to be worse than it would against something else.

Which weapons and armor should be upgraded? I ask because i dont want to waste stones upgrading an ant club, or insect axe if i should weight for a black ant sword or mosquito spear

Do yourself a favor and use the t3 axe with t3 Chopper mutation, easily beats any of the three weapons pictured, and its only at lvl 7.

I disagree the spear is best for black widows, i have found with my own testing the mint mallet completely destroys the black widow quickly for some odd reason better than the club of the mother demon even. It also seems to stun it a lot more

I have a game going on and I’m still at tier one for the most part I just equip the status javelinier and ant damage status to kill a black soldier ant with four spear throws but the statuses are not maxed on mine

i disagree about the spear and the toe nail sword being the best. In my opinion the best weapon is the one that can kill most of the bugs with ease . But that is kinda impossible bcuz there are so many bugs in the game with different weaknesses and strengths that u can't pick only one weapon. So i suggest you use one weapon with Mint , spicy, and salty upgrade. For example I use Mint Mace, Spicy Katana and Salty Morningstar. I got all 3 most important upgrades to dominate all the bugs everywhere.

I use the mint mace on everyone! Even if they are resistant to fresh or bashing it tears them up!

Does the dps calculations take into it that you can cancel the lag of the 3rd hit of the combo with pressing shield? It elevates big weapon dmg a lotttt

Actually due to a really recent update the spikey spring is the beta due to its bleed but I see this video was made before that update

Bruh, I kill AI mostly with farming AXE and HAMMER, salty and fresh enchantments. Such an overlooked weapons eventho they are basically meant for farming rss. Spdiers with spicy staff.

ive gotten by with the parry id and the mint smasher so far. though i have yet to beat a black widow. i may need a weapon without any elements for that.

I have 3 broodmother clubs on me all the time bc they are so damn strong one salty one sour ( btw all the orc bugs are weak to sour) and one fresh and yes i know that the mint mace mighty is better than the broodmother club fresh

Hey I got a question that may seem dumb, it's the combo damage calculated into the dps, because from what little I understand is that the bone dagger doesn't do extra damage because it has no combo but something like the black ant sword does have a combo with the final hit doing the most damage If I am wrong please let me know because I am alittle confused

I made my termite axe spicy as a solid spider killer and minty on the Rusty spear for the upper yard, sour dagger for those pesky spiny water flees. What is the DPS for bomb arrows? How does it compair?

Black widows (in the game code) are actually resistant to generic weapons However, this might be wrong, so don’t think it’s 100% in the game

Hi Milton. Love your vids! On tier 2 you missed Red Ant Club and Mosquito Needle. On tier 3 you missed Scythe of the Blossoms.

It's easily black widow dagger, it's poison does a shit ton of damage and the speed of it is just insane

Most of the enemies are weak to fresh and spicy. So upgrading one to fresh and the other to spicy makes you able to do more damage to most enemies
