Grout Caulk. How to silicone Tile Corners. How to Tile a Bathroom 

there are so many hacks in the tile industry and I dont think many know that they are. So awesome to see someone that accounts for expansion and compression. I started tiling my floors, almost 700sq feet worth of wood plank procelin. The NTCA and the handbook from the TCNA have been amazing. Resource as well as the manufactures technical support. It took some time for me to figure out and get decent with using that stuff. Being new I dont get a perfect seal with my bead everytime so spraying it with soap water before smoothing it out with a tool like a popsicle stick i worry that it will prevent those imperfections from being filled in when i smooth it out. I use painters tape then just spray my scraping tool. If there is a smudge on a wall or something i just go rub it off with my finger when it dries. Or scrap it off then use my fingure to rub off the thin film. Works great where my tile meets my wall.

It’s amazing how many people comment just to say something negative, I did tile for years and I learn something from almost every video I watch of yours, everybody has their own way of doing things. I thoroughly enjoy your videos and find your tips very useful.

Someone asked about a gun I finally spent $20 at Home Depot for a caulk gun and it’s a lot nicer and smoother than the one you can get for 4 dollars Keep up the excellent work!

For a tile contractor getting in bath remodeling or bath builds is smart of you. What I do. Hard to make good money doing just large floors. Cause you have to goes fast to make it work. And detail work matters why you made good decision on doing tile bath builds. Cause detail matters alot when you do bath remodeling over just doing tile floors. And your work is nice keep up the good work.

One thing I’d do different is the floor to wall caulk I would’ve matched the floor grout because it would’ve made a seamless transition. With the white silicone meeting the tan floor, that joint just stands out too much

I like using piece of cardboard to put tooled caulk; as usually have cardboard on jobsite, and also doesn’t burn through sponges, rags, etc….regardless if those are cheap, cardboard free. SURE HOPE THE FUN TILE INSTALL AND FUN ‘N GAMES WEEKEND GONNA BE FILMED IR STREAMED, THAT WAY DONT MISS OUT AS MUCH👊🏻

The Sound Effects is a MUST, and makes the mundane “Ugh” job of caulking…..a bit more fun🤷🏼‍♂️. Gotta say, caulking is not a fav of mine, so…gotta make it interesting and “enjoyable” much as possible 😉 Also, don’t rush it, and work clean and take your time if don’t do often, as may get frustrated. Also, elastomeric, polymer, acrylic, siliconized acrylic, siliconized acrylic latex, & pure silicone are just a few diff types of “caulk” (and/or sealant) and definitely wanna check to see what is “used” for cleanup. For instance, using Denatured Alcohol to “tool” and cleanup silicone caulk, might turn out rough for you (again if not do everyday) as denatured alcohol is what I use to remove/clean old silicone caulk, etc…another tip: plastic razor blades help on materials that don’t wanna scratch, or if afraid of using metal razor blades😉 Cheers👍🏻 Wish lived in area as be there for bathroom mock-up in heart beat; as sounds like a fun day with peeps who enjoy tile/shower installs. SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT FUN TIME and can always learn something, ALWAYS😊

I do it the same way, except I use worlds best glass cleaner. Works like charm

Where the tile meets the ceiling and the walls, if you use silicone, then it creates a problem for the next time they paint, or if they decide to switch colors.

couple of things…you said it’s acrylic caulking? I thought you only ever want to use silicone in a shower? Also, the soapy water can seep into cracks and underneath your caulking preventing it from creating a waterproof bond when used with silicone caulking. That said, I’m assuming the first tube was acrylic too? Can you speak on the rationale for using acrylic in an area that stays wet pls?

You practice is similar to what most of russian tradesmen do, i.e. bevel tile cuts, pretreatment of freshly caulked corners with soapy water, bending edge profile to get seamless plane transition. Did you learn from Russian tradesman?

Do you grout, followed by applying caulk on top of it, or do you only apply caulk in the corners? I am asking because people grout in the corners and apply clear silicone on top of it. At the same time, I noticed seeing matching grout caulk in tile stores. Thanks

How do you stop water from going behind tile through grout lines? Causing bottom tub/tile caulk to get moldy.

I found that windex works too, I just buy the commercial size for bout 12 bucks and refill my spray bottle

Try glass cleaner but amônia free, Home Depot sells a spray bottle , works wonderfully and cleans the tile and doesn’t spot anything .

I am learning more tricks on chalking. What would you do if the seam you are chalking is roughly 1/4" and quite deep (possibly 1/2" deep)??? Thanks for your advice. 🙂

Should you do silicone grout caulk first before I sanded so the sanded doesn’t get in the areas you need to silicone grout?

Why is Latasil brand the best silicone sealant for bathrooms?? I have travertine stone tiles in the shower and need a sanded beige color. It is hard to find a matching color bc Home Depot and Lowe’s only have white/clear. Where do I purchase colored silicone caulk? Thanks!

What about a bench in the shower? Where the front of the top meets the lower wall, should that be caulk or grout?

Is it normal for the corners the hot bed (tile) to be attached to the other walls of the shower (also tile) by grout or is silicone sealant the typical? I’m trying to redo the caulking of my tile shower but when trying to remove the “old silicone” it feels really hard and gritty almost like grout..so I’m wondering if the builders used grout instead. Any thoughts?

I am doing a repair job because the silicone on top of my grout lines around my tub are moulding. Should I peal the mouldy grout off and add silicone on top or do I need to do something with the grout?

If you claim to make the absolute best tutorial about something you better know what you are talking about. Every major manufacturer says not to use liquids to tool with if you look close enough at their tech manuals. Here is what DOW ( one of the largest silicone manufacturers in the world ) says: NOTE: Do not use liquid tooling aids such as water,soap or alcohols. These materials will interfere with cure, adhesion and create aesthetic issues. As a professional caulker doing this voids our warranty And anyone that used soapy water would be fired on the spot.

I love using a gun with a better trust ratio you won’t have to squeeze the trigger so often

And your bath caulk will fail as you need to fill the tub before you caulk. The weight of the person using the tub and water will pull the caulk away.

If yiur shower is waterproofed why are you siliconing the corners. The white caulk looks like shit.

Stop licking your finger to rub the calk, you have a spray bottle and your customer isn't disgusted. Bad nonprofessional habit, leave it behind.

Just no! Never use any liquid as it will eventually fail and you are inviting mould. Your tiling is great but no clue about caulking/siliconing. Buy a set of profiling tools

Ugggh. Would NEVER use acrylic caulk in a wet area. ALWAYS use 100% silicone. This dude straight up giving bad advice.
