Agree with folks that "Growing X As a Cut Flower" is a great format if you're thinking about doing more. Like we can all go to Johnny's or whatever but seeing "I did this and this is how it worked out" is really great.

I’m just here to say I got mad respect for ya, girl! I have a hobby flower garden right now. (I will one day have my flower farm…one day!) I love all of your videos. I get so excited when you come out with a new one. I’ve learned so much from you! I also wanted to say that I love how goofy you are in your videos. I’m a full-time teacher and I do a lot of RU-vid videos for my classes. I used to HATE doing videos because I felt like I had to be perfect. But after seeing you being so opening goofy, I’ve learned to relax and just roll with the punches. I enjoy making my videos for my students SO much more than I used to. Thanks for being my inspo, girl!!

I had hummingbird moths in my 4 o'clock garden (over 5) and I loved them. We're excited to see what happens this year since it was just before the cold hit. Didn't bother me since those flowers grow like crazy.

I am missing spring so much! ;) When I was a kid I use to find horn caterpillars all the time. I learned so much stuff about my family farm after following you. I found my 82 year old grandmas roses are 67 years old. And the indoor plant is 62! That is so wild!

Now I have to add annual phlox to my seed order! Never tried it. It looks like a good one to winter sow. The hummingbird moths that fly during the day aren't hornworm adults...Their caterpillars actually eat a certain type of honeysuckle, snowberry or viburnum depending on which type it is (snowberry clearwing or hummingbird clearwing). I love it when I see them in my garden!

Thanks! I am constantly bombarded with negative hornworm comments every time I mention a hummingbird moth. I mentioned it basically as a response to all of the naysayers before they comment about them. Love my moths!

Thank you so much for this video! I really love these perfect little snippets all about one plant; they help so much! I realized recently I've been confusing annual phlox with Dianthus/Sweet William. 🤦‍♀️. Now that I have a better source of info on phlox, I'll have to go hunting on one for Sweet William. Thanks again! I always look forward to your videos. They brighten my day! ❤️ 💐

Thanks for the encouragement! With this info, I think I can be successful this year! I also got the dulce du leche from Floret and have leftover seeds of the Cherry Brandy from last year. PINCHING! I think that's the ticket! They grew so fast indoors last year and when I set them out they turned into a groundcover! They spread out and were all over the surface of the soil...not so good for cutting but oh the color!!! I definitely found them to be cool season since I threw them outside about a month before my last frost (I'm over in the Albany area) and they were fine. Really, I saw this thumbnail and my eyes opened wide! Thanks so much for sharing your keys to Phlox success! One day I will make it to your porch!

Tomato Hornworm is in the same family as the Hummingbird Moth but Tomato Hornworms only fly at night and are a fairly dark-looking Hawk Moth. The Hummingbird Moths you see flying around in the day time use native Honeysuckles, (Lonicera sp. and Diervilla sp.)

@@FlowerHillFarm You can actually buy Tomato Hornworm caterpillars from pet shops sometimes. (And I think on Amazon too). They're meant to be lizard food and are not toxic because they are never fed their host plants: Tomato, Potato, Tobacco, and Eggplant which all contain Nicotine in their leaves. They are also an amazing Electric blue color because the dry feed they are fed in captivity doesn't contain any green pigment which they would naturally get from these plants. What's really neat though is if you put them on one of their host plants they will turn green after only an hour or two of eating, this also makes them toxic for lizards to eat. Despite being a major pain for Tomato growers, it's "fine" for places to sell them because they're meant to be food and require soil medium to burrow through in order to pupate and complete their life cycle.

I fell in love with Phlox a couple years ago when I bought a "marked down" beautiful little Pinky Purpley Perennial Phlox that looked to me like the cutest little orphan begging me to take her home. She now has a prominent place on my front island, where she has multiple babies of her own. I am adding Tall Phlox Mix in a back corner behind her And a White Creeping Phlox (Ground Cover) surrounding and connecting them all this Spring! I saw this video and said "Oh ya, talk Phlox to me Girl!" LOL 😄

Hi this is Jan and I wanted to tell you that I happened to notice while while I was watching you take your lilies and the stamens and how you can create a whole different way get a Chenille stem or some people call and pipe cleaners and just twirl it on the Petals of the flower that has the pollen on them before it gets rubbed in because once you rub that pollen in its permanent and it gets on your clothes and it's permanent but if you take a pipe cleaner and get it while it's still powdery on the on the it will come off and you have saved your lilies and that's a Hallelujah I love your RU-vid channel keep up the good work I've been a retired florist my whole career has been working in the flower shop I had my own businesses and now I get to do it for fun
