Just found your channel today, I really like your no nonsense presentation and such good advice. I live in zone 8B southeast Ga. near Alabama line. This information about blueberry and blackberries is helpful, because I have both. I only have Kiowa blackberries and they will eat you alive with their thorns. I mean they are wicked. :)) Will soon take your advice with thornless! I also mulch my little garden with hay. Please keep videos coming!
Love your channel! It’s nice to find a RU-vidr doing straw bale gardening that has actually been doing it for a while and being successful at it. Most of the RU-vidrs doing it are newbies and then decide to go back to regular gardening because they didn’t know what they were doing when they introduced the subject on RU-vid. I also love your berry garden. You didn’t mention anything about netting (unless I overlooked that part). How do you keep birds away from your berries?
Nice plants, I'm growing blueberries and blackberries too, 14 blueberry 10 varieties and about 10 blackberry plants, the blackberries I took some cutting from some wild ones growing outside my fence, that plant has been there at least 20 years when I moved here, it never has any viruses, diseases or bug damage and it has a lot of big blackberries.
I have 30+ acres in Aussie land and Im looking at something like these. I have had my Thornless Black berry for years now and dont cut them back much and always wondered why they died off so much.. I thought it was just water.. apparently not hey :D thank you.
Hi, we are in Arizona, zone 6 and this is my 2nd year of my blackberry and the fruits are still super tart (sour). Anything I can do to change the sourness to sweet? Please advise. Thanks.
My blueberries are about 5 to 6 months old. She's about 4 ft tall right now and has only had a few flowers. Not many. I live in south florida and I have her planted in full sun. Is fish emulsion good for them? I have 10-10-10 and a huge bag of peat moss. I will give her more peat moss before dark and some fertilizer. I have a blackberry plant next to her that produces like crazy. How long do the blueberry plants live with proper care? I hope my girl produces! I'm looking forward to the berries! 😁
Could you slow down the camera movement please. I get seasick watching and the camera doesn’t have a chance to focus. Thanks. And thanks for the info too.
Janet Kaufman I think he said the roots have to always stay damp.. so he has irrigation lines under the mulch.. on a timer, so they are watered for 10 minutes in morning and 10 minutes in afternoon..
