Tylan felt alienated at school thinking everything they did was wrong. Having a diagnosis of autism helped them. Tylan developed anxiety, felt overwhelmed, had sensory overload and preferred to be alone rather than with people who didn’t understand them. Tylan then developed clinical depression which didn’t allow them to see how things could get better or how they could succeed in life.
Tylan’s job at Hollyoaks where many adjustments were made to suit their needs, allowed them to flourish.
Tylan feels that all children are different, and some have special needs. If they are struggling to follow instructions or complete tasks, that doesn’t mean that they are naughty. These children need to be listened to and adjustments need to be made for them.

WOW. What a beautiful articulate human. Best of luck to her. Let's hope the school system begins to change and teachers think more about the impact of the language they use when talking to students.

My life growing up with autism is very difficult and I'm only 16 and my words get a little bit stuck on the way out and it made me feel a little bit different and I spoke to lots of people and I sing all the time
