Hi there, I'm a bit south of you, in Central Indiana, I was hoping to get some advice on what to do now for my weed-infested grass, we moved to this place a few years ago and we haven't really done anything to the lawn other for adding flower beds and garden paths, but I would like to do some fertilizer but I am afraid the weeds are really getting out of hand... Would Feed & Weed application be enough? Thank you so much!

Soil and Margaritas -- yes 2 applications of weed and feed is typically enough to be weed free, unfortunately that needs to be applied early spring though because the weeds are already growing in the soil. I don't recommend doing much in summer because of the high stress on the lawn already from the drought. I would recommend spot spraying as preferred for summer (or just skip and wait for fall).. Then in fall after the majority of weeds are dead, I would do dethatching and core aeration to get a thicker base lawn (including grass seed and starter fertilizer and regular watering for fall for a month). Once you get this fall process done, you should be in a good spot for spring which is the time for the weed and feed.

Great vid I guess you're in IL I had the issue with the storm. Quick question is it too late to lay sod next to the driveway if you put brick pavers next to it ?

BKNY1322 -- yep I'm in the Chicago suburbs of IL. Brick pavers would reduce the heat compared to blacktop, but personally I wouldn't put down sod in June- August in this area. Even though it takes longer if I had to repair a bare spot I would seed it. This way your new seed /roots have only seen these summer conditions and should adapt better in the long-term.
