The GSC 7.3L Powerstroke is a 520,000 mile farm truck that ran on 5 cylinders when we bought it. After some investigation into the P1316 code it was found that the drivers valve cover was unplugged.
A huge thanks to NightShift Diesel for the advice and help trouble shooting this issue!

my 2003 7.3 has the P1316 code and is running rough at start up and idle. it smooths out and i can drive it but very low power. it can't maintain 55 going uphill. i can go over 60 going downhill or flat.

Chances are the valve cover harness isn’t making good contact to an injector or multiple. That’s what this particular truck did.

Are they original injectors

No. They had less than 80k on them
