When was this filmed? I booked GSMR for here in a couple of weeks and I was unable to book a trip behind 1702, I was told that it will be in for maintenance.

I recorded it on July 23rd 2023. I last saw the 1702 on December 8th running under its own power. It went to the shop in Dillsboro and a couple of days later a commenter told me it was up on blocks behind the shop and the wheels were gone. They were changing the steel tires. (Context: steam locomotive wheels are fitted with a steel tire to prevent wear and tear on the expensive driver wheels.) They are also doing other yearly maintenance. I hope you get a chance to ride behind 1702 one day. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@DogsTrainsOfficial Thanks. I no longer live close enough to adjust the day we plan to ride. Moved away from Asheville and now live several hours away. But, we'll enjoy our trip regardless. Appreciate the info!
