I recently visited Malaysia after the implementation of SST, as correctly pointed out by the videoclip GST is more transparent as everything is tax a 6%, and yes we can assume that the 6% will cascade down from manufacturer to wholesales to retailers and finally consumers to bare the taxes. But its not getting any better with SST, without the transparency same outlets or restaurants that I visited did not change their original pricing, instead they slap on a 6% SST instead of the 6% GST claiming that they are required to pay to the government. When the government says 38% of all goods they have no control which companys belongs in this 38% neither is there sufficient education given to the public on how to identify those profiteering company. To sum it up I see that malaysians (consumers) are suffering more after the implementation of SST while there are more opportunity for company to game the system. PS:Lets be honest how many consumers are going to report to the authorities that the food outlet is charging more then before, and how efficient is the goverment in responding to this complains and rectifying these issues. Reintroducing SST in Malaysia was never abt helping rakyat save money. It was lobbied by corporations because under GST they couldnt hide their profits from tax.
That's because those 100 countries will receive more tax income and cash flow. That's why the 100 countries would rather implemented GST. You don't need to be economic expert, it is just simple mathematics. With GST, more income to the government, less income to the citizen. Without GST, less income to the government, more income to the citizen.
Nor Arelee We are talking about replacing GST with SST and not reintroduction of the SST. Both tax system will definitely burden the citizen. It is a matter of burden more or less.

Why stick to a dinosaur system? Simply because of ego? Sometimes, it's not the system's problem, but with the previous leadership I guess your logic is to stop eating Chinese food since MSG is unhealthy, and then tell people to start eating salads for breakfast, lunch and dinner
GST is suitable for welfare state. Pay high taxes. If you lose your job or your children abandon u, the government takes care of u.If it's used not in a welfare state, then the poor will be hard hit.GST hanya sesuai utk negara kebajikan.
