Enough to get the hooks in! Fish as much as you can comfortably handle and drive them home hard. Setting hooks is critical

Sami El Otmani I’d recommend you start with some easy to work mid range poppers that hang in pretty easy from an elevated position - Heru Cubera, Skipjack and Tuna all fit the bill and won’t break the bank

Thank man! I run a pretty long leader, all the way to the reel. If you want to cast further run a shorter leader though, the knot through the guide takes off a bit.

Cheers mate, so for casting land-based where would you have the leader start, I have heard of people having them the knot just past the stripper guide or having the knot just in front of the reel? Does it make a significant difference?

Cheers for the question man - there is no doubt a long leader takes a few yards off the cast BUT for landbased GT's you need it because you will end up rubbing off with a short leader, there are so many chances to get shredded you just have to maximise that protection. I run my leader right to the reel.

Do you ever run a wire leader land-based when targeting Spanish and other pelagics? Thanks, I assume FG knot ? I like PR but only when i can do ahead of time. Upcoming Tuna trip out of a boat, the captain told me to use 30 foot leader which seems like alot to me,...not sure why it needs to be that long.
