man really love your videos! just bought a t300 but just can’t afford a shifter or a handbrake for now. Still, I really want to drift like you guys. And here you are, inspiring me that you can drift well with only a steering wheel and good throttle control. Thank you so much for your tutorial and demonstration. You really are a good drifter and a good teacher!🤜🏻🤛🏻

Thanks a lot man and you're welcome! I'm always glad that my videos can help. You just need to keep practicing and you'll get there. I would say good throttle and brake control together. Will be explaining brake control in depth in the coming videos. Congrats on the T300 enjoy it! And thanks a lot for the support 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Amazing bro! As always :) I have a question! As a beginner, do you think I should turn on some of the assists like the countersteer assist, abs or else?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
Thanks a lot bro! Assists ruin your controls so always have them off except for ABS. With any of the other assists on, you won't feel what the car is doing nor be able to predict its behavior at all. I suggest you start with some cars that are relatively low on power. The Toyota GR86 and the BMW E46 M3 are some good examples.
@64Papiculo
@64Papiculo Год назад
@@SimActionClips Thank you so much for the advices bro! I was already drifting with only abs... Guess I'm just too bad 😅😅 I was mostly trying with powerful cars and with setups found on the internet but I'll try with stock cars. Didn't play for 3 months and it's like I all forgot... Gonna take a lot of practice! Can't wait for your drifting tutorials too 👍👍

@@SimActionClips abs on default or weak?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
You're always welcome bro! And it always takes too long to practice, so don't worry just keep trying and you'll get there. As for the ABS it depends, each has it advantages and disadvantages. But for now i suggest you keep using it on default for better control. Try it on weak later when you get used to having a light foot on the brakes with smooth input changes, and see if it gives you better control over the car or not.

@@SimActionClips Thanks bro! 👍👍 I finished golding the licenses, missions, world circuit events and cafe missions. As for the solo mode, there's only circuit experience left (and completing my car collection!). After that I'll have plenty of time to practice drifting! :) I hope the VR can help a little with it as it's really difficult for me to determine the front wheel angle and when to countersteer or hold the wheel.

Idk why but its like if I go over 45 degree angle of my drift in my viper, I automaticly spin out regardless
@SimActionClips

Which viper model is that? And yeah that could be normal, depending on the balance of the car and its steering angle.

Do you use counter steer assist? Your hand work is so smooth I can’t tell
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
Thanks buddy! No i never use any assists and never tried. Buy i know they would ruin my control for sure. I don't think anybody could be this much in control of the car using assists. They're simply unrealistic and not consistent either. Nor would the car behavior look this realistic. Noticed how the front wheels are always pointing where they're going. Now compare that to the majority of the other gran turismo drifting videos you see. You'll notice that elsewhere the front wheels movement is just random and not actually changing the rotation of the car right. To have the most realistic and imo most fun experience with gran turismo you gotta turn all the assists off, and if you're using a wheel you gotta keep the controller sensitivity at 5 for 1:1 responses.
@Diamondlace
@Diamondlace Год назад
@@SimActionClips Ight man I appreciate the info. Your shits mad consistent and I felt I had to ask. I have all my assists off except for abs and counter steer. I feel the physics of the game on point and I can’t get enough but no matter what I do I still spin out more than I should be with good tuning and settings. I’m guessing the g923 just wasn’t counter steering on its own quick enough to keep the drift
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
You're always welcome man. Yeah I only use ABS since it is there in the real car and not really an "assist". And true the G923 is not quick enough to counter-steer on its own, so you need to help it. Even my TGTII is not quick enough in some scenarios, i guess only direct drives can do the job perfectly lol. Anyway you just gotta keep practicing the way i told you to. You sound like i did, when i first started using a wheel a long time ago. It was a Logitech Drifting Force GT with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, too slow lol, and i didn't even know that. I had switched to it from Drifting with a controller. At first i thought i don't know how to drive 🤣. But i kept practicing hard. Took me around a week or so to start getting used to it. And a long while to get "good". But in the end, it's only a habit like any other sport. You train your body and mind for it, until you become able to always predict the behavior of the car given a certain environment.

You explained in the earlier video that Force Feedback Sensitivity should be "1". Here, you used "2". Any reasons for the change? Should we use "1" or "2"?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
Yes i did some more experimentation, and found that changing controller sensitivity from 0 to 1 removes some little delay that was there, and then changing the ffb sensitivity from 1 to 2 makes it more detailed and more realistic. I tried putting it on 3 also but found 2 to be much better 👌🏻

@@SimActionClips can u make a demonstration showing us how adjusting the controller sensitivity affects the wheel sensitivity ?
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
It's hard to show in a video tbh, and one needs to be very good at drifting to notice it. The idea is that it doesn't affect the visual virtual steering wheel and front wheels, they always still respond the same. But what happens when you increase the value above 1, is that your inputs get amplified. You start noticing the front end behaving as if the actual direction of the front wheels in the physics is very different from how you see them pointing. Very similarl to using a controller. Check out the videos of people drifting with a controller and then check out my videos. What you'll notice is that, most of the time they have very little counter-steering angle compared to their drifts and sometimes even straight front wheels. In my videos you'll notice the front wheels are always pointing where they're going, except when i normally understeer of course. When i increase the controller sensitivity, the car starts behaving similarly to how it behaves with them using a controller, and the front end becomes over-responsive. It then also shows some very unrealistic behavior in the replays. It's very obvious if the viewer is used to see real cars drifting.
@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
Similarly if I lower the value below 1, I start experiencing some delay in the responsiveness of the front end. I also start experiencing some ffb dead zone at the center. That dead zone is minimal with most realistic front wheels behavior when i set the controller sensitivity to 1.

Man we have a great gaming PC but my brother uses it most of the time. I've spent so much time on Assetto it is great!! What makes it fun is the endless mods that you can run. But the physics are weird. It is easier to drift though, but weird and no where near the realism of the physics in GT7. If I'm gonna enjoy Assetto i need a 2nd PC and since again GT7 feels much more realistic, I prefer to spend my precious and limited free time on it, even if I had a Super Computer 😅

@SimActionClips
@SimActionClips Год назад
As i just replied to another comment, I was working on a tutorial, but got very busy lately with some very limited free time. I will resume soon, but i'm trying to make it as informative and helpful as possible. It will be a series of many episodes. For now try my ffb settings: Controller sensitivity: 1 Max torque: 8 Force feedback sensitivity: 2 This max torque setting is for my G29, you might need to change it depending on your wheel. Some tips: Always try to be as smooth as possible with your input changes, except when initiating a drift (if you want to do a flick for example). The same concepts and behaviors that apply in real life drifting also apply in GT7, so maybe try to watch some tutorials on how to drift in general. Start practicing with some stock, and not highly powered road cars. The BMW E46 M3 and the Toyota GR 86 are both some great examples.
