The people Francis wanted you to kill had evidence against him, so he had to have them killled. Derrick however lies Niko that Bucky and Aiden betrayed him but he's the real traitor. Derrick just became paranoid of them being alive.

After the events of IV, Packie had no one. With Gerald incarcerated, Derrick dead, Kate murdered, Frances not giving a shit about his family, and as Packie stated he doesn't know how long his Ma will last with Kate dead, I think she died of sorrow shortly after IV. We see Packie leave LC.

I’d rather have that whole family dead , Gerry threatened niko in the cutscene in three leaf clover , obviously because that’s the mission derricks in & all that, like we get to choose here , I’d choose to kill both , Francis&Derrick if there was a choice , though I killed Francis & if there was a choice in the ending of the game I would’ve choose Packie , or both Patrick & Kate , I mean I know Kate is not happy when she finds out niko does the deal & Packie not happy when he finds out Kate got killed , so what would’ve Kate’ve done if she saw Packie die at the funeral , & I would’ve killed packie aswell in the funeral just to end his suffering , he’s not happy when Kate dies , obviously, & he knows about Francis got killed & I didn’t just spare Derrick , for him if there was an option I would’ve killed both , & plus he’s the last brother , & at least Gerry/Gerald would definitely still be in prison , because he is for 1 of there deaths so he should definitely be for both , though I wouldn’t’ve killed him I would’ve just left him there

When Francis get into trouble, Niko just tell him that he's screwed and Niko won't help Francis unless if he pay Niko 5 grand. Fun fact : in undertaker, if you kill Derrick and went to his funeral, Niko sits alone. While in Francis's funeral, Niko sits along besides Derrick.

And plus 12 missions after you kill Mikhail Faustin he tells Niko he knows about him and that he killed Mikhail Faustin in call and collect which is mission 35 and when you kill Mikhail Faustin that’s mission 23 and the mission in the middle of 23 and 35 is mission 29 and he’s involved in the cutscene in mission 29 funnily enough which is in many’s mission street sweeper and funny story you actually have to work for manny after you kill Mikhail Faustin even though you’ve got romans sorrow first but yeah then you work for manny no wonder why Francis McReary knew about nick killing Mikhail Faustin

I don't really buy into this theory that Derrick ratted out Gerry. In most cases Its unrealistic for criminals to get away with the amount of crimes committed especially some one like Gerry. I think its highly likely Gerry got careless and the Cops managed to catch on to him. I think that's what Rockstar tried to show with GTA IV. The criminal life is not like some hollywood action movie like its portrayed in other GTA games

He has to speed off regardless of what vehicles are available. If he stayed in the area too long, police will come after him and he has to lose them.

Player 2-LightWater Cops don’t come after this mission. You can just walk away.

Even though it's wrong. Killing Derrick would better fit Niko's code. Derrick is a murdering snitch, just like Darko. Niko's code practically demands that Derrick die, no matter how much Niko may hate Francis.

Niko was disgusted by Francis because he upholds the law but blackmails him to kill his brother. If Derrick was the first one to suggest killing the other, I wonder what his reaction would be. Plus Niko didn’t know Derrick betrayed his friends. If he did, he’d surely dislike him. But since he doesn’t, or doesn’t care, it doesn’t affect their relationship. It may also be because of his friendship with Packie and Kate. But in my opinion Derrick is worse than Darko. I think Niko was also manipulated by Derrick into thinking he was the victim because of his drug addiction and alcoholism. Niko basically pitted Derrick.

@@123Mathzak9 month old reply but to answer your question, it’s heavily implied Derrick sold all of his friends back in Ireland down the river to avoid jail time (and might have been responsible for Gerald going down) just like Darko betrayed the entire unit (although it was simply for a thousand dollars which admittedly makes it more egregious) I think it makes for a bit of dramatic irony where Niko’s dialogue afterward implies it irks him way more to kill Derrick whereas if he had all the facts he would probably kill Derrick at zero cost and maybe even without being told to, by virtue of his code and how much dirt Derrick has on him at this point.
