@@Donkey_Lipsexcept, he was willing to blackmail Michael into doing his bidding being that his career was damn near ruined by his boss Haines. He was tied every which way, it just happened to work in the end
A small detail that just hit me after 10 years of this game: Michael and Trevor use nickname to avoid identity being exposed when doing jobs, but when Michael was first shot in the prologue, Trevor was so affectionate that he literally called his name out despite having possible pursuers nearby
Yeah Trevor’s whole story is really sad given that the entire time micheal lied and tried to get away. And it has to hurt considering Trevor loves micheal so much. He’s an incredibly loyal person.
So i realized that Davey is also one of the most complex character. He's the kind of guy who see the world that is not black and white. he is willing to do a dirty job in order to keep things clean. and he doesnt use michael as a tool. in fact, he respects him enough and keep his promise by at the end of the game.
Notice how Mike's movements when Brad got shot. His reaction is delayed until he see Brad go down. And then improvises from that point. Look how he was staring at Trevor before the shot. Meaning he was waiting for Davey to shoot him.
Michael doesn’t actually get shot. There’s no visible blood or a bullet wound, and he covers it with his hand to hide that from Trevor. I’m guessing he just improvised getting shot as a way to separate himself from Trevor as things didn’t go as planned. Dave just kept shooting to not make it seem suspicious I’m guessing, but with no intention to actually hit Mike as they had a deal at that point.
@@11bullo55I wish if you did that version of the Merryweather heist that you got to keep more of the paleto score's cut due to not having to buy a cargobob
@@user-vm7cj1qc6m How? Franklin is arguably the protagonist of the story and a man trying to move on from pyramid scheme gangs. Seems interesting to me.
Fr. The 3 main characters would’ve been wanted criminals and on the run sort of like Johnny from TLAD if it wasn’t for Dave. Ofc Dave didn’t do that unconditionally and made them do suicidal jobs (mainly bc Steve demanded it) but as far as corrupt officials go Dave is one of the few with honor and covered up after not just Mike but the other 2 as well for their efforts
Dave was such a neutral practical character every move he made was for the greater good of things. I think even Trevor somewhat respected him cause Michael told Trevor that Dave was their real ways out on the last mission and to spare him but best believe if Norton acted like Steve Trevor would’ve put him down too. He’s an interesting addition to a gta story because while most gta protagonist spend time avoiding government it’s interesting to see Michael have someone he can make deals with on the inside
I love how the first and last times we hear Dave on the phone with Michael, the conversations are mirrors of each other. In the beginning of the game, Michael pretends like his life and family are good and Dave pretends his job is going well, but at the end of the game, they actually mean the things they say regarding those things.
He definitely did. Mike’s excuse was legitimate, they needed Dave to keep things clear after all was said and done. In reality Dave is his best buddy for whatever reason lol. Despite what Haines put them all through alongside Dave, I don’t recall Mike ever saying anything bad or negative toward him, I think once he called him a cocksucker not without the accompanying “he’s a standup good guy” hahah. I liked his character myself I just never fully got why Mike liked him so much
@@nathanmcandrew4778 I believe Michael and Dave go way back before the prologue heist. The rigged heist required an immense amount of trust between the two and it paid off (minus Brad dying and Trevor escaping and all that). Personality-wise, both Michael and Dave were "realists" who were willing to lie and cheat in order for their lives to go smoothly and peacefully. Meanwhile, Trevor was too chaotic and principled for Michael to really get along with.
@@nathanmcandrew4778 we don't know how mike and dave met, but during burying the hatchet we can hear michael telling amanda he's an ok guy and he's giving him an out, so we can assume that at one point, mike and his crew were very well known and dave approached him one day and told him that they were going to get caught sooner or later and he could make it so mike got away in exchange of having the rest in jail. mike, knowing how dangerous trevor was and how he wouldn't believe that mike died after a very sketchy job, opted to have him killed instead, so the original deal was that trevor died and michael got shot while brad escaped or got arrested mike and trevor also say that they really didn't like brad, so all things considered, dave was alright and to be fair, he tried to cut mike loose all the time. it wasn't until the vangelico job that haines got involved and didn't let them go
@@nathanmcandrew4778 "He's an ok guy, realist." I think this line from Michael sums up why he likes him. In his eyes, he's just like him, a man who sees the world for what it truly is.

@@CantThinkOfAnythingToUseHere *sitting* ''My pleasure I love helping our government wage war especially with itself'' continue role-playing after me
I only caught this on the playthrough I started recently but Brad got shot when Dave was aiming at Trevor. Walked right into that one and "wrong guy got shot".
Yep. And people still think that Trevor is the one who deserves to die the most at the end. Michael set up trevor to be killed, Brad to go to prison for the rest of his life, and himself go free. He was a rat and a snake of the highest degree, he screwed everyone he ever met over. He was the actual worst person in the entire game
@@mynameisjeff6988 I mean, between the two. Yes, Trevor does deserve to die more. Trevor has killed more people and has raped and cannibalized people. He doesn't even have a reason or method to doing this. He will just randomly fly off the handle. Even if you call Michael out as a traitor, liar and cheater, I think we can easily agree those traits are better than cannibalism, rape and torture. Hell, have you seen how Trevor treats Ron, Wade and Floyd. Such loyalty, right? That loyalty certainly helped out Floyd. Both are bad, but at least Michael is manageable. Trevor is a nutcase.
@@mynameisjeff6988 I mean, it's not like he did it for shit and giggles, dude had to make a choice, I doubt Trevor would've let Michael just retire quietly to take care of his family and didn't even like Brad. It was shitty yeah but I don't think he's the worst for making some bad decisions
Dave: To what do I owe this pleasure? Micheal: Just want to talk. Dave: You behaving yourself? *Micheal Stares at the damage he caused at Simeon’s dealership* Micheal: Of course.
Yep it took me a few years to figure that out as well. Michael led them there so Dave would be waiting and he could shoot Trevor (Brad walks in front and takes the bullet instead) and then he shoots Michael possibly with a rubber bullet or Michael had body armor already. It makes way more sense then a random farmer just waiting for them with a high caliber weapon
@@JGSM_sar Since when were rubber bullets exclusive to yakuza lmao. Regardless it’s more likely Michael had a bullet proof vest which is why there’s no blood on his wound unlike Brad who starts bleeding everywhere
15:57 i LOVE that comparison where there’s Davey talking killing someone, a man being tortured, and he’s casually just asking if Michael wants a coffee. i love this game
Small detail just hit me. Tracey and Jimmy aren't at Michael's funeral... and it makes perfect sense, they are way too young to comprehend what is actually going on and they would either get traumatized by thinking their father died or they could've just as easily blabbed everything out, if they were let in on the secret, so it was smart not to bring them.
So the entire plot line of the FIB in this game was A: Work with a family man to get him out of the bank robbing scene and kill his psychotic murderous partner so he can't hurt anyone else, and B: Stop a corrupt government agency from releasing a deadly neurotoxin on it's own people in order to get more funding for their projects. They are the good guys but are portrayed as the bad guys.
Actually the fib are not working with Micheal, Dave and Michael are working with each other, Dave gets glory Micheal gets out of crime. The fib doesn't know anything about that deal. It's also questionable that the IAA is actually developing the nerve gas, it's far more likely that the FIB are the ones developing it if we factor in the online heists. To the IAA's credit they have never actually betrayed any of the protagonists in GTA 5 or 4 and ULP in particular comes through for Niko.
I'll say it once and I'll say it again. "It once and I'll say it again." But I will ALSO say that Davey is my favorite character in GTAV because he is cute, charming, nice, handsome, respectful, good, wholesome, and also cute.
The Wrap Cutscene where davey points the gun at sanchez is so badass like everyone os 2 handed but davey is like ah fuck it i am shooting like a badass that scene made me like davey sooo much like my fav deutoroganist (i think ) in gta v man loved every second of thst scene most iconic with that badass backdrop of maze bank i feel like if a movie is ever made its gonna be the bestest scene in the movie
I just now realized Michael was wearing a red-plaid jacket, to hide the fact that he wasn't actually bleeding. Also, subtle detail I love: 6:49 Dave cracks a small smile at Michael's joke.
Brad walks in front of Trevor before he's shot, so Dave planned on killing Trevor first then Michael. I always loved that they kept tabs on Trevor by using his ignorance on Brad's death, sending letters from "Prison"
Dave is the perfect neutral-ally, he’s so calm and collective for someone aggressive towards him like Michael and the only thing thats holding him back is Trevor
Sh- davey i think he knows WHO what? THINK! Sh- Sh- but does he know? Does he know it all He’s heading up to Ludendorff to confirm his suspicions Sh- then what? Then who f- knows what! Idk I’m gonna go see if I can reason with him Well I’d come but I-I-I-I-I Yeah don’t worry about it, this is between me and him besides if it goes wrong up there I’m sure u ain’t far down his list That’s good to know…
