How were the trail conditions in the 80s? I just put out a vid of my hike up the ranch road to pine springs via the El Capitan trail. Great, gorgeous, and over grown. Just how I like it. The road itself was closed because of the flooding two months ago.
@@novicehiker6897 I went up there in a 70 Blazer and had no problems. I don't think I had to put it in four wheel drive if I remember right. And you are right, it is awesome and beautiful up there..... I will go watch your video.
We just did this trail in our jeep and it is presently in much poorer condition than shown in this video. Washes are steep with sharp entry and exit angles, and liklihood of bottom-out. Much of the road is eroded with larger puncture hazard rocks as the main surface. The only part of the road that looks similar to this video is near the beginning up the 1st wash after the 2nd gate, and when one gets close the the ranch house. You presently need higher clearance than this video suggests.
