I see a lot of people think that fashion only consists of hoodies, jeans and sneakers. These clothes are the artistic side of fashion-- its like wearing an artwork. Art is supposed to evoke feelings and these clothes makes a lot of people feel different emotions.
I don’t understand why people hate this, I think it looked so fucking amazing. It gave me so freaking much inspiration that I almost fished all of my homework sketches for this week.
I came here to see Olga 7:11 If you don’t know her it’s a young girl from Russia. She wasn’t really a model. She had tumor and she’s gone through an operation on her BRAIN. I’ve heard she tried hard not to cry there when she saw the design of the hall. But she is really a strong person.
The clothing you see being shown off in this fashion show is not too be worn to a party or around town. In fact it's not meant to be worn anywhere! All these outfits are like paintings, all these models are basically walking paintings. This is a fashion show, a show to watch and admire the fantastic work of Alessandro Michelle.
I actually don’t hate this, it fascinates me that Gucci brought this eerie vibe to one of their shows. I mean the clothing was on point, and the models expressions fit the theme superbly. I must say it spooked me a little when those two models were holding their own heads, but that still added in to the feeling of the fashion show. I like how it’s not only about the clothing but adds it’s own story, and theme I guess. The music choice was great, giving a Halloween/ American Horror Story vibe. Gucci really took a step forward by adding art and music to their fashion. 10 out of 10

An year ago, I watched the hospital beds and the out of this world costumes. There was something intuitive about them. Even though everybody claimed this did not make sense and Gucci was not the great brand it once was. And yet, fast forward to today. The atmosphere of this fashion show is so fitting with what's happening - I feel like that. And hence we see that great minds think ahead of their times.
Am I the only one that find this interesting..? IT'S SO PRETTY FULL OF ART! Idk I'm weird. But I love how this collection has alot of emotions in it! The colors the pattern, It's just put so well together! Gucci, you're life!

I Always appreciate/respect a designer who pours their heart& love into their pieces and has an artistic element that isn’t simply felt as a drop of ability but that which ripples outward from their heart , into every aspect of who they are and how They show their designs to the world (should be )comes through as not only a nod to a vision but takes all who see it on a journey , where the inspiration that breathed life into the work they create .. I totally respect that when I see it . The artist in me is always poised and ready to see what in a designers work is speaking forth , as to what they’re feeling ,, what they’re trying to connect to us and convey .. It feels like this line spoke of some hardship and fight and struggle going on and it’s unfortunately , painful to look at lol. So far.. I paused and began texting bc the first several designs just really idk , came through for me as ( don’t get me wrong , well done and complete and cohesive but uhh.. it’s just not making my heart feel very inspired by it at all !.. It’s dismal ! Looks like someone went to 1980’s Russia and sat in a cold dark Orthodox Church , perhaps to a fashion funeral , walked around the subway station for a while , was cold and Freezing, had nothing to eat and translated this into these pieces. The models walked as if they were def. translating the message behind the garments but yet this collection just doesn’t communicate anything buy the hard edge , rigidity of it ! I never look at some well known , big designers work and judge it any differently than I would , over or above anyone else or overly criticize or oppositely , bc of someone’s worldly significance lol , their standing in the industry bc of their name , their fame just bc they’re so well known and so many people do sit and coddle and praise and ty go flatter and all that ... or they’ll criticize just to belittle and honestly , the average person doesn’t know what they’re even looking for in fashion. The people that HAVE TO rely on whatever trend or magazine or have to get their idea of fashion from all the typical celebrities and the media , they often do and are really like carbon copies of all the other drones that they follow to be on trend .. I don’t look to any of that to define my worth or my appearance. I express my own self and I have no problem with anyone doing their thing lol , but I just feel like bc of this need to worry about labels and products defining people so much , where they have no clue why they’re wearing all the labels they HAVE to have , other than its on trend and they’ll be the first to go oh wow , I’m blown away by this designer and the thing is ? To each their own lol. I just think some designers even , in this case perhaps .. are surrounded by yes folks. They tell them oh wow that’s so wonderful or so edgy and fashion Forward and don’t get me wrong. While the driving force to the collection can be a very artistic experience and Speak from the depths of someone’s soul and at least risks are taken and things expressed .. but sometimes it’s like who are you really designing for.? Yourself or bc it’s so important for your ego that ppl look upon you and go wow ... that’s so edgy or deep or you really just took it somewhere ? When it comes off more like people all the time ripping looks from crap that’s already been done and throwing it together and there’s cohesiveness , simply that the things are tied in together in the collection but are they translating as being high fashion ? Are they anything undeniably innovative ? No ! And people wear the Gucci label just bc ohhh some damn idiot celebrity may have .. or some people in their little clique just hassss to be on trend so they compete by accumulating labels and price tags and it’s Just obnoxious ... I love that fashion can be an extension of the soul and the emotional response outwardly expressed but I bet that if some designers ever came up with half the things we see in “ high fashion “ runway shows , magazines etc. they’re compared against ppl who happen to be well known. And you people could come out and put the most plain ,dull , androgynous repeats out there and just be so praised for it as if it’s never been done lol. It’s just typical to see that in fashion all the time. If someone who’s come up with things on their own , from their soul and translated it into their pieces , they “ must be “ copying or drawing inspiration from some big name and label out there. It’s so annoying how so many human brings out there are blind to that and will just really lean so much on other people to tell them what’s good or what makes them worthy. By nature , many of the most creative , artistic people in this world are ppl who have been hurt and know pain and struggle and hardship and have been through isolation and been on the outside of things. They’ve known a great deal of pain lol. They’ve either been through the struggle and have needed to find their voice and their place around a need for acceptance and belonging and it translates into very beautiful phenomenal work and talent and ability and yet even though the masses may appreciate and recognize their gifts and have profound respect for their abilities etc. , yet the people out there in the spotlight usually aren’t ever Usually able to step back and get the fact that they’ are accepted and all that but idk.. a lot of amazing people are so talented and gifted but they poor their effort into all the work they do , with this idea that they have to prove their worth constantly and are never feeling good enough. Then there’s the ppl who are arrogant and never satisfied and Idk just having to still be defined by the opinion of others. Half the ppl out there are also surrounded by like. I said , yes men ... and aren’t Told no when they really should be and are coddled and Ill advised by ppl around them. It’s irritating to see that. Like take a step back oh my gosh. Is it really that great ? .. not so much
I love all the detailed representation of culture. Like a girl had attached eyebrows beautiful. And simple things that are added up like bag and hairstyle.
for a 8 minutes i thought im watching a different planet. and i think i want live somewhere in ppl dressing like this. it is cool, freaky, and a little bit sad. the theme is very successful i think. congrats.

Andrew C. High fashion is like modern art, someone may like it, other people can find it awful, but like art in general it suppose to cause an emotion, whatever it is so in these case this runaway did its job.
They made me vulnerable with their decor then they bombarded me with a collection of some futuristic civilization..I wanted to come out of it but the ominousmusic kept me in this loop ..I m immersed n impressed n terrified
Where to start.....Alessandro Michele’s latest masterpiece for Gucci is truly a masterful game of showmanship, starting with the invitation which resembled a bomb clock counting down to the very last minute. For me it didn’t make sense until after seeing the collection of why he used it,” it symbolizes a pivotal moment of chaos, the blowing up together all these references like sneaker culture, grunge, sultans, Sikhs, Frida Khalo, psychiatric wards symbolized by the models holding those matching doll heads, and mysterious creatures like baby dragons, the renaissance, Coco Chanel’s famous tweed suits, chinoiserie, those ski mask taken straight from Dumb Donald of Fat Albert, Himalayan snowman, Catholicism, 1940’s silhouettes, are you starting to see the picture....the references go on and on and on like a time bomb. Then there’s the other overt over-looming factor, the show space is a doctors office...Presumably a dental office set fast in a mental institution with a prescription for high-end fashion.
exactly! its how Michele portraits this generation of how they do self regeneration, like he said "We are the Dr. Frankenstein of our lives". i just hope the negativity he got won't stop him from presenting his future vision. this was an amazing show.
the inspiration behind the collection is how people construct their own identities, hence the seemingly random brand collaboration (Yankees, Paramount) and the models carrying replicas of their own heads along with reptiles. most of the negative comments that i'm seeing are criticizing the lack of cohesion, but you missed the whole point. research before you criticize, and stop the alessandro michele slander. the man is a genius and without him, you non-fashion kids watching this show just because *it's gucci* wouldn't even have gucci on your radar.
Alyssa Dickerson yeah because he copied the styling from the posts of a fashion student in los angeles wearing masks and incorporating movies the student loves found on instagram. So get over it.
okay um where to start ... the mask situation that i assume you are referring to had nothing to do with alessandro michele or gucci, it was viktor & rolf who stole the concept from a parsons student named terrence zhou. either way that has nothing to do with this collection, so no, i will not get over it.
I'd look up the meaning of slander.... Also look up Tom Ford, because without him you'd not be looking at Gucci either. ALSO arguing on RU-vid is utterly futile. But the collection is weak and staid and predictable and largely unwearable. The make is poor - indian embroideries are not good but they are cheap - which is something you'd not have been able to say about Mr Michele's predecessors.
Also, only an undereducated idiot would believe in anything you see today in fashion being original, it just means you've not looked far back enough to find what they've copied.
Alyssa Dickerson i think you were referring to the Viktor and rolf mascot copies, but i am referring to the styling of ski masks, horns and dragons in high fashion. Nevertheless i actually love a lot of pieces in this collection. But then again, thanks to master christian Lacroix, otherwise Alessandro’s aesthetics would not exist today.
Let's be real....these were either things you could literally find in a second hand store or they were completely unwearable. The aesthetic was the innovation, and now that's not innovative anymore. It seems to become more and more disjointed as well. Thinking back to Michele's first few collections, they were nutty, but they had focus and purpose....this just looks like he latched onto the raggle-taggle aesthetic that created such buzz for the new Gucci that he felt he had to amp it up. Some of the pieces hiding in there were exquisite, and really could have grounded his vision. When an aesthetic is off-putting, I resolve myself to dissect the looks and find the beauty in the individual pieces, but I really had to dig to find something unique and worth the investment. That's really the thing with some of his collections, the ingenuity really lies only in how he puts very basic articles of clothing together, not the design process. He's doing so well sending piles of clothing down the runway, though, why would he change?
Take the entire setting - an operating theatre. merging together what doesn't go together, and it works. Yes not wearable for the usual audience, but genius because I see the statement beyond the fashion aspect. The entire collection is humanity. Unity is the way forward
I'm not here for the set, the models, the styling, the statement....I'm here for the clothes. I didn't see a single garment that made my heart beat any faster. Wearability is subjective....physically, anyone could wear these clothes, but they're not made for someone to go to Gucci, pick it up, and wear it in their daily life. That's how I measure wearability. Is it practical? For me, when clothes are both innovative and wearable, they're the most successful as statements of fashion. When you break this collection down, there's nothing really that innovative or wearable. The statement might be apropos, but the garments don't support it. I need style and substance.
Actually this collection is also a collaboration with the MLB, most of the clothing was made specific for this reason, such as the hats, loafers and other clothing etc. So there is actually a way it can be incorporated as wearable and still subtle at the same time.
