I like that Gucci is finally keeping with the times. How it is no longer about a trend but a character or an attitude that each wearer personifies. (Think Heidi, Nicholas, JW Anderson) Young and modern, offering tons of options to dressing yet giving the house classics a hip update from the horse bit clogs to the floral splattered GG bags and the furry loafers. Molly Bair's dark turquoise shirt with loose trousers ensemble put a smile on my face. That was a nod to Tom Ford's debut 1995 collection but done softer and more romantic. Love.
music is good. but there seems to be little true visual or aesthetic beauty here. not the fault of the models but it's all gotten a little grotesque. weirdness is not necessarily sexy and i think the fashion industry needs to learn that.
Clothes are great, though not the usual sexy Gucci that everyone's familiar with. Alessandro just continued the story of Frida prefall 2015, and ushered it towards new direction. Stripping off Ford's legacy of high octane sex appeal while retaining a bit of Frida's. I love Gucci, and I'm hoping this will work.
Finally a comment by someone that really understand the history about this maison and this collection. Looks like the new designer want do to a new statement in Gucci. Iiked very much but...my one and only complain is the lack of black, latin and western models. Seeing only white models is uncomfortable.
Why are people so politically corect? Everybody notices lack of black models, so they say it's racist. But so many times I can see i.e. no asian models on catwalk and nobody makes a fuss. Now it's so irritating that every designer and show director cares so much to have at least one black model. Imagine a situation, that good white model doesn't get job because they hire worse black model just because they're black and show director is obligued to have at least one black model on catwalk. It's sick. And I don't know why there are so many people hating new artistic director... For me this collection is genial. Something new and fresh paradoxally takes from past. And stylization... soooo romantic! I think the only reason people hate it is that so many people think they are art connoiseurs while they aren't. If everything looked like Lagerfeld's elegance from Chanel, fashion would be boring. Art is searching and creating!
+Niemamiejscaable It's because you have this generation of americans with "white guilt" and want to pretend they are modern by stating all this boring, useless information, putting a woman of another race won't change anything, this isn't a UN conference on peace, this is a fashion show. America tends to feel like they are the entire world, so because they have an uncomfortable past with regards to the way they treated people of different races, they believe that the whole world has to make up for their past with stuff like this.
I would LOVE to know what was in the heads of the designer and stylist for this collection because I think it would make spectacular psychoanalysis! How this collection will translate into sales would be another fascinating thing to know when considering it is up against hundreds of other labels which have MUCH MORE competitive Fall/Wiinter 2015 collections than this!
I liked the fact that it was a continuation of last season's collection by means of the soft colours and material. He took a risk on the men tailored pants which could go both ways , looking at the past collections from Tom & Frida, Alessandro has some big shoes to fill . After all Gucci is a 12 Billion Dollar Brand & all he needs to do is adapt.
Am I the only one saddened by their rib cages and hollowed cheeks? On another note, I saw maybe two or three items I would wear. Purchase? No. Maybe it's a European thing.
This is a huge departure from Gucci, i know and love. Gucci is supposed to be sophisticated and sexy. I really don't like this Bohemian chic collection with a hint of androgyny. Pretty please bring Frida Gianni back!!!!!
That's just not what I ever expected Gucci to be like! The collection has so many French accents, that pretty much ruined my version of Gucci. Where's the sexy, exotic flair!? Look at the Gucci guilty advertisement; does that look like the same brand!? But Alessandro did not totally fail as Gucci's new Creative Director. He used fabrics, special garments and techniques that do resemble the brand's traditional style. I don't know what to think about it..
This is as horrible as i expected and from my point of view denigrates women. I feel like he used such strategy to distract the audience from the horrors being presented to them.
LOve the music, hate all the clothing. I assume when madness makes an appearance these are the clothing it dawns LOL. OR prehaps a decrepit old person with more time and money than taste vomited this collection into existence, either way someone needs to clean this mess before it offends anyone else's eyes.
The death of Gucci! If sales were truly stagnant with Frida Giannini at the helm, can't wait to see how horribly they do now with this absolute garbage.
+ionoification Sales at Saint Laurent are good because of their accessories, nothing else. All you have to do is look at Kering's annual report. can't wait for the day Hedi gets the boot as well. Kathy's description of his work is exactly what it is, a rip off..
This is literally Gucci's ugliest presentation. Ugly and boring models with no personality but just a monotone face that is not even fierce. Then you got the hideous clothes with the peasant boots. Like wtf were they thinking. It's like the caught the Prada effect. Ugly and quirky clothe combinations that totally don't make sense. Designers such as Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab are the good ones that stand out today.
